Chapter 39: Charm of Ryan

"Where are you going anyway?" Kaelith asked, still nestled in the princess carry.

"Let’s go enjoy that maid meeting together, I am kinf of interested in what kind of people you are acquinted with."

Kaelith blushed bright pink. "You are going to carry me there like this?"

Ryan grinned. "Obviously."

"Wait! Wait Ryan... That’s too embarrassing..."

She was stronger than him but a simple squeeze on her back debuffed her enough to make her lose all strength. Kaelith could not resist as Ryan stalked into the corridors with her in his arms, soon reaching the bustling Pillar 4 region.

She felt her soul leave in fear.

Many turned to look at the sight of the handsome prince with a maid in his arms. It was eyecatching. This was a romantic scene that almost all maids had dreamed of at some point in their live, so it took attention immediately.

Kaelith hid her face in her hands.

So embarrassing!!!

How can I look at these maids in the face again?!

She whispered: "Ray... please don’t make a scene, please."

Ryan harrumphed. He was not here to make a scene. He whispered back: "I couldn’t be bothered to do that. Do you take me for a stupid face-slapping protagonist?

"These maids don’t deserve that! I am just here to show that you are my sweetheart who shouldn’t be bullied."

He could guess that these maids might have also spoken bad things about himself. But Ryan did not mind that too much. These people could not be fired from their job by him anyway. After all, they were the personal maids of other princes and princesses.

He was not their boss. If he wanted to be respected, not be called a loser, he should just become an undeniable winner. Making issue with them for this would be too petty.

That should shut them up.

Kaelith weakly hit his chest again. "I won’t forget this!"

"Don’t forget then," he replied as he walked into the meeting room.

All maids turned to look at the flashy couple.

Ryan grinned sheepishly. "Don’t worry ladies, I am just here to watch the show."

He looked around and found a perfectly flashy spot to sit. Then, he sat back and put one leg over the other, letting Kaelith lean against him.

She was made to sit on his lap.

Kaelith froze.

She was so shy and angry at the same time, Ryan could see fire in her eyes. It was indeed too embarrassingz

Damn, she wants to beat me up.

He smiled and leaned against the chair. Even though his heart skipped a beat, he acted confident.

A maid, who sat beside him, smiled nervously at Ryan.

"Hey," he said. "Are you Kaelith’s friend?"

"Um... no?" fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

"I see. You should become friends. You seem like a shy girl."

"Um... sure?"

Ryan looked at another maid. "Hey, what about you. Are you Kaelith’s friend?"

"We are acquaintances, your highness."

"You seem like a stiff woman. Anyway, how is my Kaelith like around in these meetings?"

Kaelith wanted to bury herself in a hole. Who goes around asking if they are someone’s frined?!!

The maid who was asked the question cleared her throat. "Kaelith is a very shy person, your highness. She barely talks and barely even participates in these meetings."

Ryan chuckled. "Really? No wonder she has no friends." Kaelith wanted to bite him. "Now, what are you guys discussing?"

Another maid joined their discussion. "We were talking about how communication between maids could be made easier in the Palace, your highness."

"Ah, isn’t that easy?" Ryan said with a frown. "Just ask the mages around to use communication magic."

Many of the maids laughed inwardly. Ignorant!

Kaelith muttered: "Ryan, that’s too expensive."

Ryan frowned. "Then just do shared funding for the process. Ask all the princes behind you to put a small fund for setting up free communication between maids. We princes barely care about money, and if we can get better services, we won’t hesitate to pay you more."

All of the maids had their eyes light up.

"That’s true, if each prince pays a little amount per month, it will be enough to set up communication and even better shopping systems."

"Yeah, but the princes already pay their maids, so this will be extra."

Ryan shook his head. "You ladies have no business sense. You should start with the princes’ money, then you should use that as the capital to gain more money inside the palace.

"No matter what, if you pay some extra money to successful business owners, they should help you set up small businesses inside the palace using the extra capital.

"Since they are already capable business owners, they would know what works and what doesn’t. So the chances of the business not earning is low. After that business starts earning, just use that profit income for communications."

Many maids had their eyes light up.

They did not know how to start or run a business. That was why they hadn’t thought about running a complicated business and such. But they didn’t have to know it!

If they had the money, they could just hire people who knew how to do handle the complicated part!

And that money to hire them would be given by the princes behind these maids. It was also easy to convince the princes.

After all, this was not just an expense anymore but an investment!

Even Ryan wouldn’t mind giving a few gold.

This prince Ryan was so smart!

Many maids gained a new understanding of Ryan.

Ryan revelled in the attention, his mood brightening.

On the other hand, Kaelith looked up at him with her pretty auburn eyes. She had always known Ryan was not so normal and stupid as others thought him.

He was just silent, not mute.

He looks handsome when he is showing off, she thought. She clenched her hand on his shirt.

Another maid asked, "Prince, what do you think about the problem of boredom in the palace? Us maids are so bored, some of us are using drugs to stave the boredom off."

Ryan chuckled. "We need games!"

"Games? Like the ones that commoners like?" Many of them frowned with their entire faces.

They only knew games like chess and those were so boring for these simple minded maids. It was either such complicated games or games that commoners play, games that are too simple and boorish for them to play.

"They play it because it is interesting. Games are fun for nobles too!" Ryan shook his head. "You guys just don’t know really interesting games."

"What sort of games?"

Ryan became smug. You want to know games? I’ll tell you games!

He had the urge to say... there is this one game called Call of Duty Warfare btw. But he resisted the urge and told them about UNO.

...

In a single hour, Ryan was surrounded by maids. Many of them playfully feeding him a grape or chuckling at his jokes.

All of them were engrossed!

Kaelith, especially, had long gotten comfortable in his arms. Just leaning against his chest and looking around with a proud glint in her eyes.

Look, this is my prince.

"Prince Ryan, how is it like having Lady Seraphina as your sister?"

"Yeah, yeah, prince, talk about her. Is the Lady that fiery in the house as well?"

Ryan grimaced. "Yeah, Sera is nearly the same outside and inside the home. But she is at least polite to outsiders, while to me—she is just a nutcase. Can’t even eat peacefully anymore."

Kaelith blinked. "But Ryan, she is good to you."

"Yes," a maid said. "Rumor has it that the lava princess only has a soft spot for her brother. She is business everywhere, but inside the family—she is apparently just a young lady."

"Soft spot..." Ryan smiled. "I guess you could say that, but that only makes my life harder."

Another maid asked: "I am more curious about your love story with Kaelith. Can you tell us about it?"

Ryan’s dark eyes lit up. He looked softly at Kaelith, who quickly hid her face in his chest, biting him as a warning.

He did not stop. "I think I fell in love with her long ago. I don’t know the exact day, but I’ve always felt she was special. I think, more than a big story, it was the little things for me."

"What kind of little things?" All of them were interested.

"The way she woke me up, the way she ironed my clothes without me asking, the way she was so shy. The way she took care of my lazy ass every day. The way she never complained. The way she never asked for anything in return. Well, she was born to make me fall head over heels."

All of the maids swooned, while Kaelith became extremely shy.

"Who confessed first?" One shy maid asked.

Ryan puffed his chest up. "Of course she did!"

Kaelith jumped in fright. "No, no you confessed first! He is lying, I was not—"

"Behold, Kaelith has a mouth. She can speak!"

She blushed right up. "RYAN!"

He shamelessly enjoyed her angry face and looked around. "Do you think this shy little thing could ever confess? Of course I took matters into my own hands."

"How how?"

"One day, early morning, I pushed her down and gently—"

Kaelith covered his mouth in a panic. "Stop! Stop!" Her face become as pink as humanly possible, bordering red.

Then, she left his arms and took Ryan into a reverse princess carry. Prince carry.

And began running.

Ryan’s face became dark in embarrassment.

She was so strong he couldn’t even escape.

400 points in strength was no joke.

All my hard earned face! Ruined!

Being princess carried in front of all these women?

Ryan wanted to cry.

Kaelith looked at him with a red, angry face. He looked back with similar intensity.

"I am the one who is supposed to carry you!" he complained.

"...Shut up you embarrassing human!"

Ryan became speechless.

That was a bit too much!

Once they were far away, he left her arms.

"Look, now even you are talking back to me."

She puffed her cheeks. "I held back long enough!"

"But look what you did! You carried me like I was a girl!"

Kaelith looked away. "Your fault!"

They walked with silent indignation, both feeling very wronged. Then, Ryan irritatedly took her hand into his.

At least, he could hold these soft hands.

She held his hand tightly.

Ryan felt all his anger vanish.

Soon enough, he ended up pushing her to a wall and they lost themselves in each other’s lips.

Kaelith asked, "You did that for me, right?"

"Did what?"

"All the maids were impressed. Now they won’t talk so badly about us so easily."

"Hm, really?"

She hit his chest. "Don’t act like you don’t know."

He leaned his face closer. "Kiss, babe."

"Okay... babe. But don’t go spilling our secrets to others."

Too adorable she was.
