Reincarnated in the Royal Family with a Plunder System-Chapter 52: Never Again
Chapter 52: Never Again
Even after a few hours, Ryan still felt... surreal. Nothing felt real today. Everything was a mess.
Just a few hours ago, he was hostage to the giants in a war he had nothing to do with. Now, he was back at home in comfort and luxury. With Kaelith buried in his arms, her face a sobbing mess.
What was this lunacy?
Nothing made sense anymore.
The entire setup had felt like a legit survival movie plot. He had been travelling with a mastermind strategist, Eleanor, who was also one of the human race’s strongest. Then, he ended up being kidnapped.
The scenario had been do or die. Ryan truly had been a bit terrified. Yet, it was all over without much drama.
With how stories are usually, shouldn’t I have been forced into a desperate situation?
Then, he would use his Heavenly Plunder skill to change misfortune to fortune. He would also become a more confident, stronger person after suffering that first setback.
And look at me now, I haven’t gone through hardship and still look like a little nerd.
Tsk. Tak.
Ryan was full of disappointment.
I wish I had suffered.
Like, come on.
That had been Eleanor’s plan all along, right?
And he had missed that brilliant opportunity because of him being over smart.
Fucking brilliant.
At least, I get to see my Little Kaelith crying her eyes out.
He looked at her with fondness. "Kaelith, your man is back safe and healthy. Now smile. No need to cry."
She bit his chest. "Shut up!"
"Oi, oi. You kitchen wench, I am the master here."
She bit his chest again. freewebnσvel.cøm
Ouch. Ouch ouch ouch ouch.
"I am sorry, okay?"
She just looked at him with a wronged expression, then buried her head back in his chest.
Yeah, be cute.
Spoil the eyes with that sweet sight.
She kissed his chest. "I was really afraid, okay? And look at you, downright annoying. You are too calm about this."
Ryan boasted. "Of course, a man has to be calm. You don’t know how calm I had to be to overcome that hell on Earth."
As he said that, half of Ryan’s playfulness drained away from him.
She caressed his cheek. "What happened there Ray?"
Ryan’s dark eyes became abnormally gloomy. "I... saw a little girl being crushed to paste. Her ice cream, I can still feel it slamming into me. Her little head, her scream."
Bile rose up in his throat.
Kaelith clenched his hand tight. Her own face was pale, eyes full of horror. Ryan wrapped his hand around her tightly. He thought about his own current strength.
I am so weak and fragile.
"Kaelith, I felt so tiny. I was but an ant. I could be crushed any time, any day. I am nothing."
"Ryan..."
"Kaelith, I was so weak!"
"It’s alright—"
"It’s not alright!" Ryan’s eyes suddenly welled up. But he held the tears back. Then, he said through calmly gritted teeth: "Never again, babe. Never again. I swear it on the women in my arms, never again will I let such weakness happen."
Kaelith nodded frantically, just wanting him to calm down.
Meanwhile, a sudden telepathic link was established between Ryan and Seraphina.
He immediately felt the taste of hot chicken in his mouth. Seraphina was eating and she was sharing the taste with him.
"Ryan, come to the dining. Eleanor and mom will be meeting in a few minutes. A small war is going to be held, I think."
"Uh, ask mom to go easy on Aunt."
"Fuck Eleanor, I am going to absolutely cook that crazy bitch!"
"Sera, calm down. She saved us all, remember that."
"Yeah, ride on her thighs you little shit. Hope she doesn’t piss on you. I should not have come to save you!"
"Not like I needed you saving me. Mother was there anyway."
She laughed mockingly. "Yeah sure. Anyway, come."
A long second passed.
"Sera, I want to hug you now."
"Yeah come to my room first then."
Ryan comforted Kaelith for a bit longer before leaving the room and entering Seraphiba’s boudoir. The first thing he saw was Seraphina, her figure bright under the chandelier lights, her crimson eyes looking at him with some clear relief.
She was eating from a bowl of chicken soup.
He did not bother with anything and just went behind her, wrapping his hand around her tightly.
She just continued eating.
Then, she cleared her throat. "Never again, huh?"
Ryan blushed like a tomato. "You eavesdropped."
"No, I can guess your behavior."
"Like hell."
Seraphina lifted her hand, feeding him a spoonful. "It’s your favorite, eat."
He opened his mouth.
She fed him.
She added: "The feeling is mutual. Never again. Never, ever again. That will be the last."
He nodded.
She took another spoonful to his mouth: "Eat."
He opened his mouth again.
She fed him. Again.
Again.
Until the whole bowl was empty.
Then, she nodded. "Let’s go meet Eleanor, I need to know what she is thinking." Then, she glared at him. "As for you, who did not tell me about Eleanor’s exact situation beforehand, I will deal with you later."
Ryan felt guilty.
He truly had kept unnecessarily complicated secrets hidden from her. The fact that Eleanor was the cause of his transmigration, for example. Or the conflict between Eleanor and Lysandra for another.
"I am sorry."
"Shut up before I beat you up."
Then, they left Sera’s room, hand on hand.
"You were very cool when you appeared and killed that paralyzed giant."
"I couldn’t have hurt it without mother’s help. You were smart when you chose to level up Twin Telepathy."
"It would have been useless if my dear sister hadn’t been coming to save me from the start."
Their grip tightened.
Never again.
"Training will be ten times harder from today. Any complaints?"
"None."
Sera nodded. "Good. What are your thoughts on the ongoing war?"
"I don’t like it."
"What are you going to do about it?"
"I am too weak now. Too weak."
"Me as well, Ry. Me as well."
Their bodies fell behind shadows, their grips only tightened further.
Never—
Again.
