Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 58: Heavensent Husband
Chapter 58: Chapter 58: Heavensent Husband
Li Yunjia laughed at her son’s serious consideration. She was just jesting, but she accepted his goodwill.
"If I have a unique superpower as well, then I must also work hard." She smiled and replied.
Leng Pan looked at this warm atmosphere and felt content in her heart. When she first transmigrated, she was scared that she would have to survive the apocalypse alone, but now, things were different.
She had a big family who made everything so much better, especially her husband. He was heavensent.
After dinner, the family sat down in the living room to watch the news and find out if anything had changed during the day.
Leng Pan being a tea lover went to get a tea set and came back to watch the news with the rest while making tea for everyone.
Even though Li Yunjia didn’t know how to make tea, he had watched her father-in-law many times and could tell who knew their stuff and who was pretending.
So, she was really shocked when she saw Leng Pan making tea using an ancient tea ceremony process. Even though it wasn’t as perfect as the one she had seen a professor from Capital University use, it was not far.
How could a young girl know such a complicated process?
She waited until Leng Pan was done brewing the tea before asking.
"Panpan, how come you know how to make tea using such an ancient method?"
Leng Pan was not surprised when she asked. She had anticipated as much when she chose to use this tea making ceremony.
"I love our country’s culture and have studied some of it. I learned about the tea-making ceremony from an old man before." She replied.
She had indeed learned the tea-making ceremony from an old man, just not in this world.
"Here, Mom, have some tea. When Ah Zhen and I got married, I didn’t get to perform the tea ceremony, so let me replace it now." Leng Pan said as she offered the first tea cup to her mother-in-law.
Even though the apocalypse had begun, she still wanted to complete the marriage ceremonies as required. She saw no need to pretend like it didn’t exist just because of the unexpected disasters.
When Li Yunjia heard what her daughter-in-law said, she also put on a serious look and took the cup with proper etiquette as expected when performing a tea ceremony for a new daughter-in-law.
Lu Zhen was also surprised by Leng Pan’s decision. If she didn’t do this on her own accord, he would have never forced her.
But he was overjoyed to see her make such a decision and complete their marriage ceremony. This means that their marriage was not just a piece of paper, but also had the blessings of the elders.
On the surface , it didn’t make much of a difference, but every action had its purpose. Watching his mother receive the cup of tea seriously and take a sip, he heaved a sigh of relief.
Now his marriage also had the blessings of his family.
Leng Pan followed the same routine and offered tea to her uncle and aunt. As soon as they were done drinking tea, Li Yunjia took off the jade bangle she had always worn on her wrist and gave it to her daughter-in-law.
"Take this bangle. It was a wedding gift your father-in-law gave to me on our wedding day. It might not have much commercial value now, but it has sentimental value."
Leng Pan looked at the bangle and felt her eyes become hot. This bangle represented the love between her mother-in-law and father-in-law. She had heard of their love story and how when her husband died, Lu Zhen’s mother had almost followed him.
Such intense love, if she could have a fraction of that, she would be content.
She didn’t stand on ceremony and immediately took the bangle and put it on her wrist.
Li Yunjia looked at her daughter-in-law who looked so touched that she was about to cry and smiled. She was glad that the bangle that she cherished so much was loved.
Aunt Li didn’t have a bangle and she didn’t think that money had any value now, so she removed a hairpin she was wearing and gave it to Leng Pan.
"I don’t have anything valuable. This hairpin was what I wore on my wedding day. I have had it since I was a teenager and it has my blessings. I hope you and Ah Zhen have a happy life together."
Leng Pan again didn’t reject her aunt’s kindness and took the hairpin. She took off her scrunchie and held up her hair using the newly gifted hairpin.
Unlike the women, Uncle Li wasn’t so sentimental. Since he had nothing to give, he just promised to make more delicious food in the future.
Everyone laughed and for a moment, the gross images of hundreds of zombies running around and chasing people on the streets didn’t seem so repulsive anymore.
After watching the news for a while and realizing that the situation was only getting worse and even reporters were starting to become afraid of going out to film news, Lu Zhen stood up and pulled his wife with him.
At this moment he was lamenting the snooping superpower that his brother had awakened. If not for it, he would have gone back and ’loved’ his wife until morning.
He was extremely happy that she had taken the initiative to perform a tea ceremony making their marriage more official and traditional.
He wasn’t a man who cared too much about protocols. If it was just a marriage, having a marriage license would have been fine, but marrying the love of his life was different.
This was the woman he had thought about day and night. The woman he had protected from a far for years. The woman he would lose sleep over thinking about how to make her look at him differently.
How could he not be happy when she finally reciprocated his feelings?
He was so happy he could fly.
