Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 81: First Intense Fight
Chapter 81: Chapter 81: First Intense Fight
She had avoided catastrophe by a split second.
However, judging by how this zombie got behind her without alerting her, it was obvious that it was different from the others. It seemed to have mutated faster than those outside.
Moreover, the purple veins in the eyes almost made her believe that it had come into contact with that meteorite they were planning to take away.
This only intensified her resolve to take it home and see what it could do.
She didn’t have much time to think as the zombie lunged at her again and she had to roll on the ground again to avoid its sharp nails.
It looked like it was following the noise she made since it couldn’t smell her because of the mist. However, she couldn’t maintain it for long as the energy she had consumed covering herself with the mist to walk inside the shop hadn’t recovered yet.
She now regretted not taking spiritual spring water immediately to recover her energy after walking inside. Now she had less than half of her energy left and she had to fight this zombie and eliminate it before she was completely out of energy. Otherwise, she could just wait to be torn to pieces. She hoped that Lu Zhen wouldn’t notice the commotion in here. She had to end the battle quickly.
Thinking of this, Leng Pan didn’t continue rolling on the ground but got up quickly and dodged another slash from the zombie before withdrawing the mist protecting her. It consumed too much energy.
Without the mist covering her scent, the zombie seemed to have developed a beacon that could accurately locate her now as its movements became a bit faster.
Luckily, it was only as fast as a normal human, otherwise she would have been done if its speed exceeded hers by too much.
It was her first fight, so she still fumbled a little. She used her water ability to form a long dagger and slashed at the outstretched arm of the zombie that was trying to grab her.
With this slash, a rotten arm fell to the ground. The zombie let out a deafening scream as if it felt pain from losing the arm, but Leng Pan didn’t think it was that simple.
She didn’t have the time to think deeper about this problem as the zombie seemed to have gone crazy, slashing with the other arm aimlessly and crazily.
She could only move constantly to protect herself and to stay out of its reach. As she moved, the zombie moved as well. Leng Pan realized that if she didn’t find a way to end it quickly, it might corner her without a place to retreat.
Therefore, while maintaining the dagger in her hand and using it to slash at the arm that was only about ten centimeters from her chest, she used her other hand to form a sharp spike that she drove into the zombie’s head.
As soon as the spike went through, another scream came out of the zombie’s mouth. This time it indicated more pain than before as it also collapsed to the ground and stopped moving.
It was dead.
Leng Pan took a deep breath and realized that she was trembling from fear with her hands shaking and cold sweat covering her back.
Her heart was beating so fast that it could rival a race car. She had never experienced something so heart stopping. With how easily they had killed the zombies with bullets outside, she hadn’t expected a one-on-one fight to be so exciting. But this was good, at least now she had experience.
She was about to collapse on the floor when suddenly strong arms were wrapped around her and she was held in a wide and warm chest.
She collapsed completely when she smelled the familiar scent and felt the familiar secure feeling only one person could give her.
She knew her husband had come. freёwebnoѵel.com
Lu Zhen could feel the girl in his arms trembling. This felt like a sword being driven into his heart and twisted. He felt so regretful for leaving her alone. If anything had happened to her, he would never forgive himself.
He had heard the zombie’s scream while he was entangled with other zombies across the road. He couldn’t come immediately and could only speed up his operation while praying that nothing happens to his wife.
He had hurriedly poured some gasoline on the ground across the road and lured the zombies there and immediately set them on fire.
He didn’t even wait to see if they had burned before rushing over here and the moment he entered the door, his heart nearly stopped.
Leng Pan was using her right hand that had formed a water dagger to slash at the arm of a male zombie about a head taller than her and her left hand had formed a spike aimed at the zombie’s head.
What made him almost stop breathing was the outstretched arm of the zombie that was only about a centimeter away from her heart when it was stopped by the collapsing of the zombie after its head was pierced.
He had not dared to make a sound because he feared that distracting her even a little might lead to eternal regret. Even after the zombie was dead, he still felt as if his legs were filled with lead and couldn’t move. It wasn’t until he saw her tittering and about to fall that he finally came back to his senses and ran to support her.
Holding her in his arms, he finally felt his heart return to its place and calm down a little.
"No more splitting next time." Lu Zhen said as he tightened his arms around his wife.
When Leng Pan heard him say that, she wanted to argue, but thinking of what had just happened, she stopped herself. If she argued right now, it would only cause unnecessary conflict.
She could talk to him at another time when their emotions weren’t high and charged.
