SEX WITH MY BEST FRIEND'S FIANCÉ-Chapter 49 - FORTY NINE
Chapter 49: Chapter FORTY NINE
- KILLIAN -
"Are you really going to let him go?" Liam asks, standing behind me as Marino scurries out, limping. I want to kill him after everything I’ve heard. But I won’t. Like I said before, I’ll give him time to warn people. freewebnøvel.coɱ
I’ll give him time to run. "No. Knowing him, he’d try to flee. Let him run. He can’t hide." I groaned and lowered my gaze to my stomach. I need to retire to bed. But I have things to do. "Not with that body anyway." I said and sighed. I want Marino to spend his last twenty four hours with the dread that I’m just a blink away, waiting to end him.
My attention left the door and fell on the people chained to the ceiling.
I clench and unclench my fist, warming my hand up. They’re next. I will enjoy this very much. Or not. I have somewhere to be. "Do you want to do the honour, Liam?"
A cackle slid in my ears as Liam laughed. "You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting to be asked that."
A half grin formed on my face. "I’ll leave it to you." I walk in front of the men hanging. They’re stripped of their shirts and their shoulder joints are pinkish. Being in this position must hurt. "Gentlemen, have fun with this one." My grin widen. I walk to the door. It’s slightly ajar and a trail of blood is spread across the floor.
Filthy blood. It’s Marino’s. I’ll need to send a maid to clean this mess up. "Brother," I call carefully. "Look into them all before you kill them. I need to know who has families." I swallow.
I know what it’s like to lose someone very important to you. I’ve lost more than one. Even if I hate that I was attacked, these men are just doing their jobs. I’ll send someone to pay the ones with families a visit. They’ll be taken care of accordingly.
"I’d rather you don’t kill them at all." I mutter. Liam hasn’t asked me about Hazel yet, I’m sure he’s waiting for the right time. At least, not when we’re getting our hands dirty in this room.
An exhale escape my nostrils. I guess sometimes, even a devil has a heart.

- HAZEL -
Kate just left. I spent time with her all day and it was refreshing.
Although, funnily I have to admit, coupled with the fact that Kaiden was here and she bombarded him with a lot of questions and actually made him embarrassed while involving me in every discussion was the highlight of my day. Plus the snacks!
A smile forms on my face. She left just a minute ago but I miss her already. I needed to force Kate to go because she wanted to spend the night here.
As much as I love my best friend, I know I wouldn’t be able to sleep from all the puppy love, so no thank you! I humbly declined the offer.
I sighed. It’s night and I might retire to bed soon. Kaiden just dropped by the supermarket across the road to get me some stuff to last me for the night. Not like the hospital isn’t already doing their thing. I giggle.
I love the effort. I love the fact that we’ll go for our first date soon!
My face lit up with excitement. I may have a cast on my leg but that doesn’t mean I won’t rock a dinner dress. Plus, a heel on one leg and decorations and jewelry on the other with a crutch would still be a dope sight. I hope.
A nurse walks in. She’s holding a file in her hand. "Doing alright, Hazel?" She asks politely and I nod. She scribbles something down in the file.
"Are you experiencing any discomfort or pain in any form? On your foot or any part of your body?" The nurse questions again and I pause.
I try to move my foot and body. "No. None that I can notice right away. Although the cast is itchy." I chuckled. She did too.
"It’s normal darling, happens all the time." She interacts so nicely that it makes me feel at ease. "A nurse will show up later to do a thorough checkup and you’ll have an examination tomorrow. Take care and if you need anything, don’t hesitate to alarm us, we’re at your disposal, okay?"
My lips form a line. "I won’t. Thank you."
The nurse wrote something down, taking short glances at me.
"Okay, see you later." She said.
I ’mm-ed’ in response and she flashed a smile and left.
I’m waiting for Kaiden. I hope he gets here before visiting hours are over.
I sigh. I still don’t know if I should call my parents about this or if they’ve already been notified. They haven’t called me today regardless, so I’m not sure what to do or which has been done but I don’t want to bother them with something this minor. I look at the time on my phone and roll my eyes.
Where are you Kaiden?!
I heard footsteps. Someone barged into my room. I felt a rush of excitement bubble up in my veins till I saw who it was.
My excitement died instantly. It’s not the person I was expecting or want to see at all.
"What are you doing here?" I ask uninterestedly. Why is he here? What more does he want from me? Act like he gives two shits just to shatter my feelings again? I’m passed that. Although I can’t deny it still hurts.
Killian stood in front of me with a bouquet and a huge gift bag. He didn’t answer. I scoff. Typical Killian thing to do.
"Well, since you obviously don’t want to talk, you can go back how you came." I say icily, turning my gaze away from him.
"How are you?" He asks. That makes me gaze at him. His voice is soft and barely audible like a whisper but forgive me if I’m wrong, but, did it mask concern or did I interpret his tone wrongly? I can’t tell.
"Well I’m on a hospital bed with a cast on my leg caused by clashing into you, so have a guess." I scoff, stretching both my hands forward at my foot. Killian’s eyes trailed down to the bed then at me.
He’s just standing there and it feels awkward staying with him. I have so many questions. Why did he stalk me to the bathroom and help me out last night if he was going to be a dick about it today? But even seeing him gives me the creeps, talk less of asking that.
"You seem to be the same and okay. That’s good."
This made my brows crease. Okay?! He thinks I’m okay?!
Why won’t he anyway? His job is just to mess around with someone.
"Sure. If you say so." I lay down on the bed. "When you’re done standing here, you can make your way out." I turn to the side. I don’t want to see him. "With whatever you came with." I added.
I didn’t hear any footsteps so I’m guessing he’s still here. I can’t shout for him to leave, but when visiting time is over, he’ll go. That’s if Kaiden doesn’t arrive to get my mind away from him first.
"Hazel I’m sorry. I-"
"Save it." I interrupt. He’s my professor and I should be nicer but I can’t pretend. Outside of school, he’s not my professor. "I don’t want to hear another lie." I rub my arm with my palm. I don’t need his manipulation. I don’t need him disturbing my thoughts.
"I know you must hate me."
That line made me scoff. "You have no idea." I said.
"There’s nothing I can say to change that. I’m a very complicated man and I can act out of character.... a lot of times, but I want to prove to you that I meant what I said in the restroom, Hazel. If you let me." His voice cooed. I’m not going to let him in. Not anymore.
"Message passed. Leave."
"Hazel-"
"Killian I don’t want you here!" I raise my voice. My eyes are watery. "It might be a game to you," I gasp. "I might be another...." I look for the right words. "Random girl to you but don’t. Don’t put me in a place I’d regret something when you won’t be completely with me. Don’t make me stab my best friend in the back. You’re not worth it. Now go." I bit my lower lip hard.
I want to cut my lip. Maybe it’ll justify why tears are flowing down the sides of my face. I bring my hand up to wipe them off. He made me believe him then, not anymore.
"Will you give me a chance to-"
"My answer is no. Go."
"Hazel-"
"Killian leave! Go! I don’t want you here! Please." I sat up, barking at him. Looking at him made me feel bad instantly. He looks hurt.
I don’t care! I shouldn’t! He should feel the same way he made me feel. But I am sure he’s just acting.
"Don’t make me call somebody. Leave."
He didn’t. He’s standing there. Killian took a step forward. That made me flinch. I don’t know why but somehow, that hurt look seemed to vanish and he looks like a predator. Maybe that’s because of how huge he is. His fists tighten.
That’s when I noticed a cut. My eyes widen. The more I stare at his hand, the more bruises I see. His knuckles are bruised and I can see traces of wounds running up his wrist. His long sleeve covered most of it.
My heart skipped a beat. What happened to him?
"Are you okay?" I ask. Worry suddenly set every form of hate I felt for him aside.
"Sort of." He mutters.
That doesn’t look like a ’sort of’ kind of wound. Why isn’t he in the hospital?
"Your hand.."
"It’s nothing." I look at Killian confused. He didn’t hide his hand from me but he didn’t come closer to me. "I fell."
Down a volcano? Or rocky hill because I don’t think a fall can cause something like that. I didn’t bother to ask more. "Okay, you can go now." I clear my throat.
I am worried but I don’t want to be.
"I will." He kept the gift bag and bouquet by my bed side. "Only if you accept this."
I looked down at it. "If it’ll have you gone, sure." I look away.
"Take care Hazel. I don’t know if this means anything but, I didn’t mean to hurt you." Killian said to me. I stared up to face him and looked at his eyes. They’re not sky blue like Kaiden’s but it looks warm and sincere. "I hate myself for it."
"You should." I say, sizing him from head to toe. I sigh. "If you want to change Killian, start by leaving. Please."
"The lady wants you gone. Respect her wish." A masculine’s voice trailed from the door. It’s Kaiden. Right about time.
I caught the ends of my lips curling. He is not smiling at Killian. I look at Killian. His facial expression is bland when staring at Kaiden.
"I’ll win you back, Hazel." He whispers before leaving.
His words has me thinking. I doubt that. He didn’t listen to me till someone else told him to. A man at that.
Kaiden walks to me. He holds a bag up as he sat by my side. "I got everything you wanted."
I push Killian’s stuff under my bed with a lazy hand so he doesn’t notice it.
I took the bag from him and looked in. He didn’t just get what I wanted. He got me triple of each thing.
"Oh my god-" I gasp. "What are you? Heaven?"
"You could say that. But I’m so much more." Kaiden says huskily.
The more I’d love to know.
