Shinji Matou at Your Service-Chapter 1060: The Furious Artoria
Chapter 1060 - 1060: The Furious Artoria
While the figures hidden behind the scenes were exchanging words, the kings in the center of the battlefield also began to converse.
"Yo, King of Knights, long time no see. So, you've been summoned as well this time?"
Iskandar greeted with his usual hearty voice.
"Long time no see, King of Conquerors."
Artoria nodded in response. Although back in the day, he had shattered her composure with his twisted logic, after so many years, she had learned to face it calmly. She no longer harbored anger toward him; in fact, she felt a bit of gratitude.
"That new steed of yours looks great. How about letting this king give it a try?"
Iskandar rubbed his hands together, his eyes gleaming as he stared at her motorcycle like a fool.
"No, this was specially crafted for me by a friend."
"That's easy to solve. You and your friend can both join my army and then it'll be fine."
Artoria sighed, slightly exasperated.
"It's been ten years, and you're still saying the same things?"
"Of course!"
Iskandar replied matter-of-factly.
"It would be a waste for someone of your talents not to join my army. So, what's your answer this time?"
"My answer hasn't changed. I won't join your army."
"Still clinging to that ridiculous ideal of yours?"
"No, I've already let that go."
Artoria shook her head lightly.
"Then why?"
"Because there's someone I want to protect, someone I want to fight alongside. And that person is not you."
As she said this, a gentle smile appeared on Artoria's lips, and the sincere emotion behind it made Iskandar click his tongue in admiration.
"It seems you have let go. The old you would never show such an expression. I'm curious—who's the lucky guy?"
"Hahahahahaha."
A loud, exaggerated laugh echoed from above. Gilgamesh, the King of Heroes, crossed his arms and declared confidently.
"What a foolish question, King of Conquerors. In all the heavens and the earth, only I, the great king, am worthy of loving the King of Knights."
"You're the fool here, King of Heroes," Iskandar retorted, laughing at Gilgamesh.
"Haven't you noticed? The King of Knights hasn't even looked at you once."
"Hahaha, women are always shy. You, a brute, wouldn't understand."
"No, it's you who doesn't understand, King of Heroes."
The two kings locked eyes for a few seconds, their gazes clashing. Then, simultaneously, they both turned to Artoria.
"So, what's your answer, Saber?"
"Don't be shy, just throw yourself into my arms."
"Throw myself into your arms? Don't kid yourself, you self-absorbed fool."
Artoria shot Gilgamesh a fierce glare, not hiding her disgust. Perhaps because of her black outfit and motorcycle, a faint black aura swirled around her—her suppressed negative emotions were nearing their breaking point.
"Even if ten thousand years pass, I'll never like you!"
At her declaration, Iskandar burst out laughing, clutching his stomach in pure amusement.
There was no visible anger on Gilgamesh's face; his blood-red eyes reflected an eerie, unreadable expression.
"I wasn't asking for your opinion. This is my decree. I'll say it again: put down your sword and become my woman."
"Then I'll say it again: I have no feelings whatsoever for a self-righteous, arrogant idiot like you. Dream on if you think I'll ever be your woman!"
Everyone was stunned by Artoria's response. No one expected the usually serious, even somewhat rigid King of Knights to respond so fiercely, in such a crude manner.
Whether they had interacted with her before or not, the reaction was the same. Lorelei, for example, was in a state of disbelief. This was the greatest king of Britain, a hero sung of for generations. The stark contrast made it feel like something fundamental had shattered within her.
As for Shinji, he was utterly flabbergasted. For a moment, he even thought he was facing Salter, a corrupted version of Artoria. Taking a closer look, the usually perky strand of hair on her head seemed to have drooped.
"Oh dear Gaia and Alaya, what's happened to my dear King of Knights? Why has the whole vibe suddenly changed?"
The only exception was Gilgamesh. With a wave of his hand, the sky filled with Noble Phantasms floating menacingly toward Artoria, his ever-present smile now tinged with sadistic pleasure.
"Is it embarrassment that made you misspeak? No worries, no matter how many times you misspeak, I'll forgive you."
Artoria, tired of wasting words on this fool, brandished her holy sword, ready to strike.
However, before she could, hundreds of massive beams flew into the sky, intercepting the rain of Noble Phantasms.
"This is between me and Saber. Who allowed you to interfere, clown?"
Gilgamesh's eyes narrowed, serpentine and threatening, as he glared down at Shinji. The latter, however, narrowed his own eyes and returned the cold smile.
"Sorry, but I'm getting involved whether you like it or not. To tell you the truth, Artoria's feelings are for me. If you've got a problem with that, come at me."
"Do you have a death wish, clown? If you back down now, I might let this slide."
"I'll return the same words to you. If you keep pestering Artoria, I'll use everything I have to defeat you!"
As he said this, Shinji's expression shifted to the same cold, deadly demeanor he had used when facing Roa earlier. The chilling aura of killing intent surrounded him once again.
In truth, Shinji held a certain admiration for Gilgamesh. He found him amusing when playful and reliable when serious. And with his undeniable strength, Shinji didn't want things to escalate into a life-or-death struggle. But if Gilgamesh harmed someone he cared about, Shinji would no longer hold back.
Personal feelings, old grudges with Rin, plans for another Banquet of Kings—none of that mattered anymore.
Infinite possibilities?
The strongest Noble Phantasm, Ea?
The omnipotent star of all knowledge and power?
One of the greatest in human history?
To hell with all that. Shinji only knew one thing: backing down now would make him less of a man.

At that moment, he discarded all his concerns.
Even if it meant revealing all his trump cards, even if it meant exposing the Third Magic, even if it meant attracting the attention of something like the Mage's Association or other entities, he wouldn't back down.
Shinji wanted everyone to know: no matter who they were, if they harmed the woman he cared about, he would kill them. Even if they were gods or ancient heroes from the heavens, they wouldn't be spared.
