Shrouded Seascape-Chapter 1101. Lily
Chapter 1101. Lily
Charles felt regretful as he stared at Lily standing in front of him. The reason he sent Lily back to her own plane was so that she could live a peaceful life like an ordinary child.
Charles had even made use of 005's power to make her human once again, but it turned out that his efforts were all in vain.
Who did this? As soon as the question popped up in Charles' mind, he immediately answered it himself. No wonder that kid became a god quicker than expected; it turns out he created a Divinity!
A long-lost emotion—anger—surged in Charles' heart. The young Charles from another plane had actually turned his crew member into a Divinity without his consent.
He had even entrusted that kid to take care of Lily. Was turning Lily into a brand-new Light God his idea of taking care of someone?! A human being becoming a Divinity wasn't a good idea at all. To obtain something, one ought to pay the price for it, and perhaps Lily had already paid the price.
Meanwhile, Lily was busy thinking about something else.
"Traded? He has traded everything?" Lily muttered to herself, stunned upon hearing Sparkle's words earlier. It seemed that too many things had happened while she was away, and she no longer had a grasp on what was going on.
The mundane days and the moments of suffering through life-or-death situations with Charles were all... gone? Lily's heart was engulfed by a complicated mixture of emotions, but overall, she was very displeased.
"Go back. Return to your own plane," Charles said calmly to the massive sun before him. He sounded so calm that it made Sparkle feel a twinge of heartache.
"It's me, Mr. Charles." Lily's ethereal voice echoed once again.
She couldn't believe that Charles had traded everything about her away.
"Of course, I know you." Charles nodded. "You're the gunner of the Narwhale and my crew member, Lily. Unfortunately, you truly cannot help me with the predicament before me."
Charles' voice no longer sounded calm; he sounded emotional as he said, "No, you can't just go back like that. I need to strip away your power, alter your memories, and make you human once again."
With that, Charles' human fleshly body decayed before melting into a torrent of flesh and blood that fused with the massive flesh island beneath Charles. Moments later, hundreds of flesh tentacles sprouted from the cold sea.
The wind howled, and the sea churned as the colossal tentacles wrapped around the radiant sun in the sky. The colossal tentacles were like spires bursting from the seafloor as blood vessels and grotesque rootlets proliferated across them.
The tentacles throbbed as the liquid pumping inside them made them drill into the radiant sun.
However, the bizarre scene wasn't over just yet; more and more tentacles burst out of the seawater, intertwining in midair to form a giant tree trunk of flesh and blood.
There was a sun within the crown of the tree, making it seem like Charles' flesh was nurturing a radiant sun.
Boom!
A thunderous boom echoed, and the enormous tree collapsed without any warning. The sea churned, triggering massive waves that swept across the entire sea region.
Charles' human fleshly body condensed next to his daughter, and he looked up at Lily in the sky with a complex expression. "You're Lily? No, you're not Lily. Lily has become just a part of you. You killed the past Lily!"
A deafening silence descended.
Lily felt bitter. Charles' reaction was definitely not what she wanted to see.
The silence was shattered by none other than Lily herself, saying, "Yes, I've changed a lot since then, and let me ask you something, Mr. Charles. Are you your past self, or did you also kill the past Charles?

"How much of your past self's memories do you still possess?"
Charles couldn't answer Lily's question.
Lily was right. He had indeed murdered his past self. He had changed—no, everyone had changed a lot.
Charles was silent for a long time before asking, "What exactly do you want to do?"
"I want to help you. The other Mr. Charles from my plane said that you're all in trouble, so I'm here to help you. I want to help you, just like how you helped me back then," Lily replied.
Charles stared deeply at the radiant sun, pondering over something for a long time.
Eventually, he decided to agree. Lily had already progressed way further than the point of no return. She had already become a Divinity, so it was better to make full use of her.
"All right, you can stay here," Charles remarked.
Lily was genuinely delighted to hear that reply, and she felt like all the hardships she had experienced were worthwhile. The radiant sun descended and "joyfully" crashed onto the flesh island.
The radiant sun nuzzled up against the flesh island, instantly scorching the flesh and reducing the flesh island's bones to mere ashes.
It was a behavior one would expect from a child, but Lily couldn't care less. She wanted to nuzzle up to him—she really wanted to become that carefree little mouse from back then.
"Okay, you're not a mouse anymore, so calm down. Anyway, you should get used to your body as soon as possible," Charles remarked. Contrary to his words, however, he truly felt like the little mouse back then had returned to his side.
"By the way, what can you do?" Charles asked. He wanted to know her abilities so that he could think about the role that suited her the most in the inevitable end of the world.
"I can't quite describe the energy within me, but in a nutshell, I can resurrect and bestow life upon everything," Lily remarked. Then, she seemed to have recalled something as she added, "I'm going to resurrect Grandpa Doctor and our friends, but I don't have their souls."
Upon hearing that, Charles was instantly reminded of the old ship doctor. He couldn't help but start missing the old man, but that feeling quickly faded away.
"He got to live till ninety-seven. That's a lifespan long enough for humans, and death is the endpoint of humanity; it is inevitable. If you disrupt that cycle, then he'll become something else. Believe me, that probably isn't a good idea."
"If that's the case, then... Mr. Charles, why did you go to great lengths to resurrect me back then?"
"Did I?" Charles asked. He pondered about it and realized that some memories related to Lily were missing. Clearly, he had traded those memories with 005 in exchange for a wish.
"Perhaps it was because I was too naive back then. Now, I've gotten much more rational," Charles replied.
Lily felt like crying upon hearing that. Sparkle was right. He had indeed traded away a good chunk of his memories. The Mr. Charles standing before her had become too unfamiliar to her.
"No, it's not just his memories related to you. Daddy's humanity is fading away as he gets closer and closer to becoming a god," Sparkle remarked.
"What exactly happened?" Lily asked. He felt like too many things had happened while she was happy.
"Don't worry about it; I'll tell you exactly what happened," Charles replied. Then, one of his tentacles reached out to Lily, transferring some information to her.
Fhtagn's movement, 002's changes in the Core, and the meeting of the Charleses for the sake of saving themselves—Lily instantly learned about them. Charles even transmitted those fragmented, apocalyptic scenes to Lily's mind.
"Since I became like this, I've been seeing afterimages of the past and the future on the people around me. And from what I can perceive, those afterimages seem to depict the future of the world.
"We don't have much time left. We must do everything that we can to ensure that we won't find ourselves in that hopeless and desperate future."
Lily absorbed the torrent of information coming from Charles sent over, and it took her no time to understand why Mr. Charles had been doing this and that all this time.
"Mr. Charles, I'm going to help you. It doesn't matter even if you no longer possess those memories and those emotions, you will always be my Mr. Charles."
