Sovereign of the Ashes-Chapter 1063: The Battle Between Good and Evil
Chapter 1063: The Battle Between Good and Evil
Of course, Faeloria had not forgotten Sein; the three distinct forces attempting to probe into him were proof enough that hidden powers were still keeping tabs on him.
Inside Purgatory, at least, Sein enjoyed relative security.
Beyond its borders, however, the demons would be hard-pressed to shield him from danger.
Undaunted by the Succubus Queen’s cautionary words, Sein pressed her for details about the God of Craft.
“The God of Craft was sighted eighty-three years ago. A ragtag group of unknown origin tried to ambush him, hoping to slay him. Instead, they were completely obliterated. He dispatched them with a wooden giant that looked like those alchemy puppets you made,” the Succubus Queen shared.
“Unknown origins? So it wasn’t the Godslayers? And a wooden giant, of all things?” Sein scratched his head.
“It wasn’t the Godslayers,” the Succubus Queen confirmed. “We suspect certain Dark Alliance deities orchestrated that attack. As for the wooden giant, it’s reportedly at saint-level strength.”
Folding her arms, she continued, “The God of Craft was last seen in the San Jose Kingdom, in central Faeloria—a territory controlled by the Justice League. Aside from him, several of the league’s lesser deities are also present: the Goddess of Music, the God of Glyphs, the Goddess of Waters, the Goddess of Joy... all of them have recently gathered in that region.”
“With the Avatar Crisis growing ever more turbulent, the Justice League appears to be consolidating its defenses—particularly around deities who aren’t well-suited for combat,” she added.
Sein raised an eyebrow. “That’s quite a crowd. Do they even get along with each other?”
“Normally, no. Differences in their doctrines and divine abilities often spark conflict. But these particular deities share amicable ties. There are nearly three hundred deities in the Justice League, and more than half are lesser deities. There’s no way all of them could converge at once. Still, it’s not uncommon for a close-knit group to band together in times of crisis,” the Succubus Queen replied.
Sein narrowed his eyes. “You mentioned that the situation is complicated... It’s not just about these deities gathering, right?”
The Succubus Queen nodded, clearly impressed by Sein’s perceptiveness.
“The Goddess of Waters is the favorite target of the Dark Alliance’s God of Storms. He has targeted her in the past three Avatar Crises.”
She continued, “Meanwhile, the Goddess of Joy has formed intimate bonds with several male gods from both the Justice League and the Dark Alliance. However, Fenrion—the God of the Hunt from the Dark Alliance—cannot stand some of her actions. In this Avatar Crisis, it has declared its intention to kill her.
“Then there’s the God of Glyphs, who once angered Zorvax, the God of Tyranny. Although Zorvax never openly declared this lesser deity an enemy, many within the Dark Alliance are eager to impress him.
“And as for the Goddess of Music, she hasn’t directly clashed with the Dark Alliance deities. Yet her strongest ally, the God of Courage, suffered severe injuries not long ago. It appears that Dark Alliance and the dragons have joined forces against him.”
From her explanation, it became evident that the five deities gathered in the San Jose Kingdom were relatively weak, vastly outclassed by the might of those within the Dark Alliance.
Historically, unless the Purgatory demons stormed out of their territory, Faeloria’s past one hundred thousand years have been defined by the rivalry between the Justice League and the Dark Alliance—one championing order, the other, evil.
Despite being the representatives of chaos, demons in Faeloria often functioned more like neutrals, aiding neither side.
This complex history and civilization had given rise to the unique, almost surreal state of Faeloria today.
The longer Sein remained in this world, the more amazed he was. It was truly unlike any of the planes he had visited before.
The fact that even the God of Craft had recently drawn the ire of Dark Alliance deities showed the intense hostility now directed at the Justice League gods in the San Jose Kingdom.
The Dark Alliance would never spare these deities, especially since both the Goddess of Waters and the Goddess of Joy tended to attract forces far more malevolent and powerful than themselves!
Without resorting to divination, it was clear that a full-scale war among the deities was imminent within the borders of the San Jose Kingdom.
It would likely be a conflict involving ten or more deities, eventually devolving into a quagmire of deep strife.
Even the Purgatory demons wished to steer clear of such calamity, and naturally, the Succubus Queen was eager to dissuade Sein from entangling himself in it.
After listening to the Succubus Queen’s account, Sein chuckled. He had not expected to hear a familiar name from her mouth.
Ysor, the God of Storms—that was one of the first deities Sein discovered upon arriving in Faeloria.
Back then, in Blackwater City, among the three major temples and the church of the Dark Alliance, Ysor’s was undoubtedly the most dominant. The Bone Lord followed in strength, while the God of Thieves was the weakest.
Ysor’s long-standing pursuit of the Goddess of Waters stemmed from a conflict over divine abilities and personal interests.
His primary divine ability was the power of storms.
Among the laws he wielded, wind was the most dominant, followed by water.
Ysor’s rise to power had been steeped in bloodshed and conquest.
To date, at least three lesser Faelorian gods had fallen by his hand, their deaths paving the way for his ascension as a supreme deity.
Nymirra, the Goddess of Waters, was simply the next name on his list.
While the mention of Ysor stirred memories of Sein’s earliest days in this world, the Goddess of Music also piqued his interest.
In recent years, Sein had made significant progress in the field of sonido elemental magic, but delving into the realm of sonido laws remained a leap beyond his current reach.
His mastery of pyro elemental laws had only been possible due to his deep foundation in pyro elemental knowledge, laid early in his studies.
Likewise, his understanding of the lumen elemental law was largely owed to the divine relic left behind by the God of First Light.
Although his time in Sky City had broadened his horizons, Sein’s growth in alchemy had since stalled.
He was still far from joining the ranks of the great alchemists—those capable of building colossal war platforms and space fortresses.
That was exactly why the God of Craft held such appeal.
If Sein truly wished to break new ground and ascend to greater heights, slaying the God of Craft was the key, especially since that deity also appeared to possess mastery over certain pyro elemental laws.
As for the God of Craft’s wealth, Sein had no interest in it.
He was already rich enough.
