Chapter 53: Zone Event Cleared

[Ding! Remaining Elite Units: 2]

[Ding! Warning: Zone Event Completion Imminent.]

The entire battlefield froze for a second. Now only 30 more seconds remained. Damon blurred forward like a streak of night itself, appearing behind the stone-skinned beast with a glinting claw of condensed blood magic in his hand. It pierced the creature’s neck cleanly, absorbing all the blood essence.

Before anyone could breathe, he Shadowstepped again, this time near the last elite—already weakened from an earlier scuffle. The poor monkey didn’t even get a chance to roar.

Arvan tried to land a hit but the spell blade was far away. He could only send a fire surge which Damon was happy to block on behalf of the monkey using Damage Guard, a useful little tank skill he had picked up from someone.

"Bastard!" Arvan shouted in exasperation which Damon felt free to ignore. He quickly finished off the last elite monkey right in front of everyone’s eyes and a system wide notification rang out.

[SYSTEM-WIDE ANNOUNCEMENT]

Zone Event Cleared: "Stone-Skinned Monkeys – Elite Swarm"

MVP: Player ’Blood God’ has achieved the highest contribution.

Rewards: Rare Chest x3, Legendary Skill Roll x1, Event Title: [Banana Reaper]

The notification exploded across every player’s screen in Garth City, silencing the entire battlefield for a breathless moment, followed by utter chaos and commotion.

"YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!"

"I want a refund for this stupid game. I am quitting damn it. I am quitting!"

"This fucking event is finally over!"

"Banana Reaper??? WHO IS WRITING THESE TITLES"

"He tanked the fireball for the monkey. The monkey. WHAT IS WRONG WITH HIM? Why is this hacker still around?"

"So many players and yet he did not get killed? How?"

Up in the treetops, Damon lazily stretched. His red name [Blood God] gleamed in the dying sunlight, and beside it now floated: [Banana Reaper].

He gave a cheeky salute to the stunned Arcane Dawn forces below. "Thanks for the support. I managed to clear all the elite monkeys. We made a great team."

Arvan’s blade trembled in his hand. Lirael’s jaw locked, her divine light flaring furiously—but neither of them moved. freewebnøvel.coɱ

Damon tilted his head. "Well, looks like I’ve overstayed. Catch you later—if you survive long enough to matter."

And with a last glint of crimson shadow, he vanished.

Many players did not actually care about any feud or even Blood God for that matter. They hurriedly started searching the battlefield to scavenge any forgotten loot or drops from the elites.

However, no one had any luck. The entire place was already licked clean. There wasn’t even a single scrap left anywhere.

"Which bastard took all the drops?" Someone shouted but no answer came in response. The game log out screen appeared and everyone was kicked out of the Earth Online world before they could process what just happened.

Damon lifted the helmet off of his head with a smile on his face. For a hard core gamer like him amassing so many drops and skills in such a short time was a big high. He closed his eyes and sat silently for a moment, going over what happened in his mind. The smile on his face disappeared.

He was not still not strong enough. If he had been stronger, he wouldn’t have let anyone walk away from there alive. He clenched his fists. He wanted the strength and power to be able to wipe out entire guilds single-handedly. Only then could he be assured about the future. Perhaps even that was not enough.

Damon let out a sigh and shook it off. All in due time. There was no point in rushing things hastily.

He stood up and stretched, brewing a cup of coffee for himself. He felt full as he had been continuously absorbing blood essence for the past hour. Nevertheless his tongue craved a little coffee.

He opened his phone and went through the news and forums casually as he waited for his coffee. Naturally the first thing plastered all over the Earth Online forums was him.

Damon sipped his coffee, utterly unbothered, letting the bitterness wash over his tongue as he scrolled.

Someone had uploaded a screenshot of him from the treetops, the red name [Blood God] and the ridiculous new title [Banana Reaper] proudly glowing above his head. The caption below read: "Blood God is a ruthless killer. Hunt him down!"

Another post showed an animated compilation of kills set to dramatic opera music—he chuckled at the part where the sniper tried to run and got taken down in slow motion.

Damon shook his head and continued looking through. It was mostly for jogging his memory to make sure he wasn’t forgetting something crucial. Though he remembered many things from his last life, it was not like he had some sort of photographic memory.

Players still talked about other things and not just him on the online forums so he scoured them meticulously for a while. Soon the coffee was ready, the steam curling around his face as he stood and took a long sip, eyes never leaving the screen.

He spent the next hour this way before finally giving up and taking a small nap. He had a long day ahead of him and he wanted his mind to be fresh for his first magic practise in the real world. He laid down to rest when he suddenly sensed the presence of a few men nearby.

Damon frowned. He opened his door and looked outside, only to see extremely well-built men in black suits and rayban glasses carrying out furniture and moving boxes.

And they were all coming out of the ice cold beauty’s apartment. Was she moving out?
