SSS rank Mother-In-Law to an Invincible Family-Chapter 447: Top Enforcer-Code Named Brute
Deep in the Southern Continent, the jungle was quiet again.
The blood from the last ambush had already soaked into the soil, and the breeze that moved through the trees carried the faint scent of spirit beast blood and charred energy residue. But no one was running anymore. No more shouting. Just stillness.
That stillness was exactly what the humans and Monster Race needed.
Inside a wide cave hidden under a root-covered hill, two commanders from the Monster Race stood over a crude map drawn across the dirt floor.
They weren't fancy or overly armored. One was dressed in thick vine-wrapped robes and had green scales down his arms.
The other wore a carved wooden mask shaped like a beast's skull. They had been alive for hundreds of years and knew this forest like their own heartbeat.
And standing with them was a single figure—cloaked in black, trimmed with silver, silent and still.
A Shadow leader from the Xu family.
He didn't interrupt.
He simply waited until the two finished arguing.
"I'm telling you," the green-scaled one grunted, "we've already lost enough terrain to those idiot scouts. We should collapse this whole valley and be done with it."
"And risk waking the bloodroot clusters?" the other barked. "You want those things to burst and drain half our own troops again? We're not doing that."
The Shadow leader finally spoke, his voice low and quiet.
"We don't need to collapse anything. The valley is already ours. We just need to reroute their movement without alerting them. Shift the terrain traps inward. Tighten the path."
The scaled beast turned and looked at him. "You make it sound simple."
"It is. For now, as long as we do not make any mistakes and the beasts do not make any unnecessary and unexpected moves."
The other monster nodded slowly. "The traps you set earlier worked too well. I've never seen them fall apart that fast."
"They were impatient," the Shadow said. "And they underestimated the terrain. The Xu family has studied this region for months. We knew they'd get frustrated the moment they couldn't see their enemy."
One of the commanders let out a breath. "Then we need to make the next move matter even more."
"That's why I came," the Shadow replied, tossing down a rolled-up scroll. "Updated formation designs.
No more open-field traps. These are stacked formations—layered nets. Silent seals. We don't attack with power. We drain them of movement, sound, and direction.
This way, they will not have much will to fight or energy to do when they actually break through, which is what we need as fighting with them with their almost endless armies is not a fun time."
"Yeah, let them run," the other commander muttered, studying the scroll. "They'll never know they've been caught until it's already over."
Just then, a monster scout ran into the cave, panting and wild-eyed.
"Commander! Something's off!"
The two monsters turned sharply.
"What now?" the one with the wooden mask snapped.
"There's… something strange with the beasts we're watching to the north," the scout said, trying to catch his breath. "They're not retreating like before, but instead, they all look excited."
"Excited?" the scaled one frowned. "Why would they be excited after all this loss?"
"I don't know, but they're gathering like they're waiting for something. Not scared. Not regrouping. Just… energized."
The Shadow leader's expression didn't change, but his eyes sharpened. "Show me."
They moved fast.
Within minutes, the three of them stood at the edge of a cliff, just high enough to overlook a wide basin partially cleared of trees.
Down below, beast soldiers were pacing and twitching with restless energy.
A low hum filled the air—almost like anticipation.
But none of them had a look of gloom and dread they had before. Instead, they had a look of relief and excitement as if they could not wait for something.
"I don't like this," the masked commander said. "They're… too eager."
Then, something shifted.
The temperature dropped slightly.
The beasts all turned their heads toward the west as if they could feel something arriving.
And then it happened.
A ripple of spiritual pressure swept through the air like a crashing wave.
A new figure stepped through the forest's edge—massive, draped in deep red armor fused with natural beast hide.
Horns curled from his forehead like a crown, and glowing lines of energy ran down his arms like rivers.
Even from this distance, his power was crushing.
The Shadow leader narrowed his eyes.
"That's not a normal commander."
"No," the scaled monster said slowly. "That's one of their top enforcers-code named Brute. A core bloodline beast.
The kind they rarely send unless something's gone wrong—or they want to wipe something out."
"So why is he here?" the Shadow asked, more to himself than anyone else. freewebnøvel.coɱ
The masked commander was already turning back toward the cave. "We need to report this."
"We don't have the firepower to stop him," the scaled one added. "If he joins, we will have a lot of losses on our hands, even with the traps working to sow the guy down."
The Shadow didn't hesitate. He reached into his sleeve and pulled out a glowing token.
"I'm contacting Ms. Hu Liwei."
That name made both monster commanders pause.
"You think she'll come?"
"She won't come herself," the Shadow replied. "But she'll send someone who can handle that thing."
Moments later, the Shadow activated the token. A spiritual flame sparked above it and carried the encoded message across the continent through layered relay points.
In the middle of the Southern continent, a token vibrated as a small glow appeared on the surface.
Hu Liwei, already in a quiet meeting with her war aides, stopped mid-sentence when the alert flashed before her.
She didn't wait.
She turned to her aide. "Prepare deployment. Level three emergency. We need someone in the main battlefield now."
"Who should we send?"
She thought for a moment, then gave a small smile.
"Let's give that enforcer a surprise."
Back in the jungle, the beasts were still moving—gathering near the new commander, their roars growing louder.
They were ready for war.
But what they didn't know… was that their biggest fight hadn't started yet.
