Chapter 20 - Easy Strength is not True Strength!

If he had grown up with a family like this, if he had lived his entire life being revered just for existing, would he have still become the man he was proud of back on Earth?

Would he have still known the thrill of pushing past his limits, of proving himself in a world that gave him nothing?

The answer was uncertain.

One thing, however, was clear.

He would not let this world define him based on his family name alone.

If he was to be respected, it would be because of his own strength.

If people were to fear him, it would be because of the power he personally cultivated.

If he was to rise, it wouldn't be because he was Gareth Drakethorne's son.

It would be because he was Ethan Drakethorne.

If people were to fear him, it would be because of the power he personally cultivated.

If he was to rise, it wouldn't be because he was Gareth Drakethorne's son.

It would be because he was Ethan Drakethorne.

He exhaled, shaking his head slowly.

"I need to grow stronger... and that means stepping out from under my family's protection. Staying with them might grant me power—maybe even rapid, overwhelming power—but that's not enough. That kind of strength isn't real. True strength comes from facing the world, from surviving real danger."

Ethan isn't your hotheaded youth, he's a mature man in his early thirties in the body of a young boy, so while the nature of Earth can't compare to the nature of this world, he's able to adapt well and make correct decisions, not losing sight of his main goal which is to get stronger!

His experience on Earth had taught him a universal truth—no matter how different the world , some principles remained the same!

Achievements earned without sweat and struggle aren't real achievements!

And in this world, where strength reigned above all, that principle translated simply—

Power gained too easily... is no power at all!

Because at the end of the day, the only thing that mattered was power.

And he had no intention of stopping until he reached the very top.

And then, there was Selene.

While the other students subtly tried to get close to him, she was completely shameless about it.

The moment the class was dismissed, she linked her arm around his, pressing up against him as if she had every right to be there.

"Ethan," she purred, looking up at him with violet eyes that sparkled with mischief, "You were incredible back there. No one could take their eyes off you... including me."

Her voice was soothing and feminine, one that every teenager would die to hear, it was like the voice of an expert seductress seducing a politician. While matured in mind, his body was still that of a teenager, with active hormones and strong libido.

He didn't struggle against his hormones he went with the flow, he watched as she leaned in closer, resting her head against his shoulder, completely unbothered by the jealous stares of their classmates.

If anything, she thrived off the attention.

"Now that the day's over," she continued, "why don't we go celebrate? Just the two of us?"

Ethan remained silent for a moment, letting her words hang in the air.

In his previous life, most teenagers would have killed to have a girl like Selene wrapped around their arm, making advances so openly.

But Ethan was no teenager—not in mind, at least.

He knew better.

Selene's actions, though flirtatious and bold, weren't entirely about him.

She liked the status, the security, the exclusivity of being the one closest to him.

And while he didn't hate her company, he wasn't naïve enough to mistake it for something deeper.

He let her do as she pleased, but he never returned her affection the way she wanted.

It was a game. A dance. And he was content to play along—for now.

But love?

That wasn't something he would entertain. Not unless it was real.

As they made their way out of the academy, more students tried to talk to him, throwing in forced jokes and veiled attempts at friendship.

Ethan responded when necessary, but his mind was already elsewhere.

His true concerns weren't about social status or admiration.

He had bigger things to think about.

Eventually, he and Selene reached the portal that led to their respective homes.

She stopped, looking up at him expectantly. "You sure you don't want me to come with you?"

Ethan smirked, shaking his head. "I think you've already stuck to me long enough today."

Selene pouted but grinned afterward, as if satisfied with how much she had already gotten away with.

"Fine," she relented. "But yhjou'll owe me one tomorrow after we awaken."

Ethan simply gave a nonchalant wave before stepping into the portal leading to his family's Labyrinth.

Arrival & The Hover Car

The moment he stepped through the portal, the familiar air of his family's domain greeted him.

Waiting just outside the shimmering gateway was his personal hover car—a sleek, black floating vehicle with a smooth, aerodynamic design, lined with soft blue luminescent edges that gave it a futuristic yet regal appearance.

Standing beside the car was Graham, his personal assistant.

Graham was a tall, well-built man with sharp features, dressed in a dark gray uniform with golden embroidery, the Drakethorne family insignia stitched onto his left shoulder. His jet-black hair was neatly styled, and his demeanor carried an air of professionalism, yet there was something in his dark eyes that hinted at familiarity—a closeness he shared with Ethan.

As Ethan approached, Graham straightened and gave a respectful bow, his voice deep and steady.

"Welcome back, Young Master Ethan."

Ethan blinked, suddenly realizing something.

This morning, he hadn't exchanged a single word with Graham when he had driven him to the academy.

At the time, he had been too preoccupied with his thoughts, adjusting to his new reality, but now it hit him—Graham and the original Ethan had been close.

And yet, today, Ethan had barely acknowledged him.

Had Graham noticed the change?

Most likely.

But the man didn't say anything. He simply stood there, waiting for Ethan's response.

Ethan decided to play along.

He gave a small nod. "It's good to be back."
