Star Gate-Chapter 1057: Divine Spirits Inspire No Fear (I)
Chapter 1057: Divine Spirits Inspire No Fear (I)
“This is the best we can do then—we sit here with our hands folded for capture and await our doom!” sighed the old duke. “Everyone, all other ideas are a joke compared to this.”
“We didn’t despair this badly when we were preparing to attack the Skystar Commander Office!” someone grumbled. “As they say, we’re only good against our own and complete amateurs against foreign enemies!”
“Fuck that! You go after Divine Nation if you’re that good!”
“If Li Hao could take them, he would’ve long taken them. Would he need to issue a call to arms in all directions otherwise? I say he’s just afraid of death in sticking to the war against Great Li in the north. He wants the three continents to fall apart!”
“......” Heated discussion was raging in the group when a magnificent force descended upon them.

“Oh? You’re all here!” A voice rang in their ears. Everyone’s hearts quailed!
Li Hao’s form manifested in front of the crowd, prompting jerks of surprise. They all knew Li Hao and were astonished that the young man was... here!
The old duke’s expression shifted; those who’d just criticized Li Hao had their hearts in their mouths!
“What a coincidence, I’m visiting just for the old Tranquil Duke, but to think I’d find you all here!” Li Hao beamed radiantly. “Is this a gathering of all the western lords? If someone was to take out this entire group, wouldn’t that leave the western continent without leadership?”
A cold chill ran down everyone’s backs!
“The commander jests!” Only the old duke remained calm. “With Divine Nation on our doorstep, the western continent would become occupied by another if the commander did not come. We did not understand in the past and knew little of the world. Smug and conceit colored our perspective, thinking that we could reign supreme in a cardinal direction. Only today do we realize that we were such jokes!
“We have long given up our hopes to be local tyrants, emperor, or the next Human King. We might have already worn fealty to the Skystar Commander Office if it wasn’t for these invasions, so please do not make fun of us, commander.”
“The old duke is quite an interesting person!” Li Hao smiled.
“Not interesting, just seeing things more clearly in my old age,” the old duke sighed with emotion. “Does the commander come with a plan against Divine Nation?”
“I have the semblance of one, but I will need everyone’s cooperation.”
“Please speak of it, commander!”
“It’s nothing major, just that I hope for everyone to make a trip with me. After that, all you need to do is reassure your citizens!” Li Hao grinned brilliantly. “I thought that I would have to visit you guys one by one. It’s so much more convenient with all of you in one place!”
“What does... the commander mean?” Some grew tense.
“Nothing much, just that the Skystar Commander Office will march on Divine Nation! I hope that you guys will stay out of our way!”
“Then... what about Great Li?” asked the surprised assembly.
“There will naturally be people to take care of Great Li!” Li Hao chuckled in the face of everyone’s astonishment. “Come with me now!”
He reached out and grabbed one person in particular. “Don’t bother sending any messages, I’ve long sealed off the premises. Let me take a look at what you’ve written...”
The young man grabbed a transmission pendant. “Li Hao has come to the Tranquil Duke’s manor and is about to march on Divine Nation. Please convey this to the envoy as quickly as possible...” He shook his head with a laugh. “Are you an idiot? How do you have the guts to send messages right beneath my nose?”
Crunch!
He crushed the other to minced meat with his hand!
Terror overwhelmed the group. The newly dead had been a fifth element Arcanus. They’d cleared a lot of acupoints, but Li Hao had instantly killed him!
“Which province does this one come from?”
“One in the extreme west, West Border!” the old duke answered solemnly.
“It looks like Divine Nation has been busy these years,” Li Hao nodded. “It’s fine that they’re on our doorstep, these are but small matters! All of you should come with me if you don’t want to be crushed to death!”
No one dared say anything. Although the young man was here by himself, no one dared resist. They were caught deep in the throes of sorrow! One person alone could overcome all of them!
“The old duke should tell your servants that you’ve gone out to locate reinforcements. Don’t let uncertainty drag your household into chaos!”
“I understand,” sighed the old duke as he swiftly passed on the word.
Li Hao didn’t mind the possibility that the old duke would take advantage to stir up trouble. The duke’s son had died in Li Hao’s hands, so the young man wasn’t worried at all.
Those who suit their actions to the times are wise!
A group of provincial executives were quickly brought aboard the warships. They were stunned by what they found. So Li Hao was serious and truly meant to mobilize troops against Divine Nation!
......
At the same time, the west.
A massive city floated through the air. Various sculptures stood within a great hall. One of them abruptly opened its eyes.
The nation’s queen arrived moments later and asked carefully, “Does the prophet have something to say with your sudden awakening?”
“Your Majesty,” the sculpture said with an aged voice. “I see mountains of bodies and seas of blood. I see the collapse of Divine Nation. This expedition is very dangerous!”
The queen blinked and frowned, “But the second awakening has not yet begun. Our nation is unmatched and unparalleled! That is why I have sent out the troops to unify the world and prepare for the second awakening... Has the prophet glimpsed scenes beyond the second awakening?”
“Perhaps, I cannot be certain.”
The queen frowned. Were their arrangements ahead of time still insufficient against the ancient powerhouses?
Another sculpture came to life and boomed in a resonant voice, “Do not worry, Your Majesty. With us present, the nation will remain prosperous even in the advent of the second awakening. Not even New Martial was able to eliminate us back in the day!”
“The god of war... should not bewitch Her Majesty...” sighed the prophet.
“Her Majesty has her own decisions in mind, you do not need to scare her!” roared the god of war before closing his eyes. It was unbecoming for that old thing to sound the drums of retreat before a single hair of the enemy was seen!
“I know your concerns,” said the queen after a moment. “I will be careful of the New Martial existences. I will not relax my guard!”
She interpreted the prophet’s visions as scenes after the second awakening. Scrying the future was not a definitive exercise, nor was it set in stone. The future could be changed.
“Your Majesty, it may not be New Martial!” the prophet said after some hesitation.
“Oh?”
“I... I am not sure, but I also see a ferocious tiger flag!”
“Eh?” The queen paused. Wasn’t that Li Hao’s flag for his army? How was that possible??
Does the prophet mean that I’ll lose to Li Hao? That’s not happening!
The queen broke out into laughter. Divine Nation’s might knew no bounds, the divine spirits were awakening, and countless powerhouses filled their ranks. They feared nothing so long as the second awakening didn’t take place for those ancient powerhouses to emerge from the ruins!
“I have heard your warning!” chuckled the queen. “Please rest, Prophet. Foretelling the future is an enormous expenditure of energy. I will help everyone recover their full strength once we seize the Skystar mine!”
She turned and left. Had the prophet seen incorrectly? Or was it that Li Hao would throw himself under an ancient city’s banner after the second awakening?
That was also possible!
......
Three warships drew closer to the western border. Excitement began building in Li Hao as he looked into the distance. I’ll be able to satisfy my curiosity this time and witness the true battle strength of a divine spirit! How many divine spirits does the west have? Maybe I can capture or kill some to complete the clearing of more meridians.
They could already see the floating city in the distance. A flying city was a treasure with formidable strength. The powerhouses standing next to Li Hao shifted with anticipation.
Jiang Li looked at Li Hao, seeing the young man barely able to contain himself. We’ve been had, my king! Li Hao’s target all along was Divine Nation! There will be even less hope for Great Li once it is destroyed!
......
Aboard the warship.
Li Hao watched impassively as the enormous city approached them. It moved at a sedate pace. Various strong presences rose from the city center.
The young man considered it silently. His powerhouses next to him were ready to take action. The three warships hovered in the air; many nervously gripped their weapons, their palms already sweaty.
Divine spirits!
This term still exerted some pressure on most people.
“When the fighting starts, the entire army will take the field!” Li Hao’s voice sounded. “I make only one request of all of you—kill! Kill every living thing that is not on our side!
“Everyone, it is time to assess the might of the Skystar Commander Office!”
A longsword appeared in his hand—Stellaris. His replica used a regular origin weapon as its vehicle. After all, he was concerned that the Great Li king would get ideas about his weapon.
“Follow my command!” Supernatural characters surged into Stellaris as Li Hao held it high. The weapon trembled and those standing close to him could already feel immense strength flowing through it. Not only that, but the void ripped apart as a current of even stronger energy streamed into Li Hao’s body.
Off in the distance, ripples shimmered over the massive city.
......
Inside the city.
One million elites were camped in orderly rows, powerhouses patrolled the four corners, and the nation’s queen frowned inside the great hall. Why... did her heart race so fiercely today? Were the prophet’s words bothering her?
She felt a sense of something amiss and abruptly flew out of the great hall, hovering in the air over it and looking into the distance. Her expression shifted slightly—the firmament seemed to be splitting up ahead. It was as if the primordial chaos was parting.
“All subjects of the divine are to be on the alert...” she cautioned before the firmament fully split apart.
A twinkle of sword light illuminated the darkness.
“Li Hao!” gasped the queen.
A barrier of light appeared over the city’s airspace, but it was instantly pierced through by the sword light.
“Kill!” Li Hao boomed like a tolling bell, shaking the world. “Demon Hunters!”
“Kill!”
“Demon Hunters!” War cries echoed through the air as three warships navigated the void, slamming into the city. With the Battle Heaven Army as the vanguard, fifty thousand armored soldiers wielding swords and spears charged into confusion engulfing the Divine military camp. They were butchers with their tools raised high!
“Kill!” A ray of sword light lit up the void again!
Boom!
It careened toward the great hall in the center of the city. The queen jerked out of her shock and shouted, “Divine spirits, please awaken and kill the enemy!”
Li Hao had come, it was entirely unexpected! She thought back to the prophet’s words, recalling how she’d thought it would be after the second awakening. Who would’ve thought... it could possibly be today!
