Star Odyssey-Chapter 3582: Heading Out
Chapter 3582: Heading Out
Aboard Boundless, Lu Yin’s spirit cloudstone trembled. It was a call from Old Yu.
"Can’t this matter be delayed until after the Day of Offering?"
Lu Yin replied indifferently, "Old man, did you even think before asking that question?"
Old Yu did not get upset. Lu Yin had always seen Old Yu as an enemy. "This is not just about revenge. This concerns two major powers: your Grandverse Manor and the Primal Beastland. This involves both the Spirit Nidus’s human-form and beast-form Spirit Rebirths, as well as the relationship between our megaverse and yours. If this is not handled properly, the consequences could be disastrous."
"Words have already been spoken, which means that this matter will soon be settled. If the Primal Beastland refuses, then we will go to war," Lu Yin stated indifferently.
Old Yu frowned. "Lord Lu, the path for the future has already been agreed upon. It's not difficult to protect your Tianyuan Megaverse. Why do you insist on causing unnecessary complications at this juncture? The Primal Beastland represents all of our megaverse’s beast-form Spirit Rebirths even if not all such cultivators live in that domain. If this matter escalates into an attack against all beast-form Spirit Rebirths, do you know how many of their powerful cultivators will come out across the entire Spirit Nidus?
"It’s possible that not even your connection to the invincible being will be enough to protect you, as continuing on in this manner will shake our megaverse’s very foundation!
"I believe that the invincible being has not appeared yet and that you have not revealed your relationship with him because you have concerns of your own. Is it really worthwhile to change all of your plans over such a small matter?"
Lu Yin felt quite puzzled. Relationship? What relationship? Right, I did once claim to be Master Qing Cao’s disciples. Did Old Yu actually believe that? Didn't he verify things with the High Seraph?
Old Yu took Lu Yin's silence as a sign that the young man was pondering the matter, and so he continued to say, "I promise you, this matter will indeed be addressed. Your Grandverse Manor’s reputation won’t be damaged, but neither will the Primal Beastland be made uncomfortable. We’ll deal with this after the Day of Offering. What do you say?"
Old Tao then approached. "Third Boss, Emperor Wu has just announced that he alone is able to decide if Wu Ji lives or dies. If you want his life, you need to go and take it yourself."
Old Yu heard the announcement at the same time as Lu Yin.
The old man’s face instantly fell. He had intended to speak with Lu Yin before approaching Emperor Wu, and he was surprised that Emperor Wu had responded so quickly. It appeared that the challenge letter that Emperor Slayer had sent on behalf of Emperor Wu and the later rumors concerning the Ascendant Hall had pushed the leader of the Primal Beastland too far. Who was behind the rumors?
"Lord Lu-"
Lu Yin cut the old man off, "Did you hear that? That is an open provocation. If we don't respond properly, what will happen to my own reputation? Why do you think we came here? If we take even one step back, we will be forced to retreat again and again. My Tianyuan Megaverse won't pull back even a single step. Even if the Primal Beastland is as vast as the sky itself, I will simply punch a hole in the sky."
"Wait! If war is really the only answer, then I have an idea. The outcome won’t be chaotic, and you also won't suffer!" Old Yu anxiously suggested.
Lu Yin arched a brow. "What are your thoughts? You seem quite eager about this. Don't tell me, are you also cooperating with Emperor Wu now?"
Old Yu’s voice grew helpless. "Emperor Wu would never cooperate with us. He represents the beast-form Spirit Rebirths, and such cultivators will never be able to replace human-form Spirit Rebirths as the rulers of the Spirit Nidus. He dreams of defeating the High Seraph, and he refuses to form alliances with anyone."
"That's rather ambitious," Lu Yin commented.
Old Yu sighed. "Lord Lu, regarding the matter of Ba Liu and Yi Yao, you need an explanation and to save some face. Boundless can go to the Primal Beastland, and you can fight with Emperor Wu, but only against Emperor Wu alone."
Lu Yin chuckled. "Do you take me for a fool? Emperor Wu is the ruler of the entire Primal Beastland. If Boundless arrives to attack him, do you think that his Primal Beastland will stand aside?"
"You can't participate," Old Yu replied.
Lu Yin was confused. "What does that even mean?"
Old Yu explained, "On Boundless, aside from you and that even more unfathomable Origin Progenitor, everyone else can fight against Emperor Wu, and the Primal Beastland will not intervene. If Emperor Wu loses, Wu Ji will be returned to you. If he does not lose, then handing over Wu Ji will be enough to resolve the matter with him. Wu Ji will die, I can promise you that, but Emperor Wu will also agree to face Boundless on his own. This will give your people the advantage, while also preserving face for both sides. In fighting against all of Boundless alone, Emperor Wu will not allow anyone else from the Primal Beastland to join in, as he will insist on preserving his reputation as well.
"Everyone will be able to save face, and you will be able to vent your anger. To enable this, I am willing to pay you extra. What do you think?"
Lu Yin laughed. It was easy to imagine that, for the Primal Beastland to avoid war with the Grandverse Manor, Emperor Wu would agree to fight against the various experts aboard Boundless. Doing so would demonstrate unparalleled strength, while also allowing Boundless to put pressure on the Primal Beastland; this would be proven by the fact that Emperor Wu would be forced to face the battleship on his own. As the Third Boss of Grandverse Manor, Lu Yin would not even need to do a thing. He could remain above the entire fray, watching without losing face.
Regardless of whether Emperor Wu won or lost, he would prove his power, much like how Lu Yin had during the battle at the Umbral Deep. This could be seen as compensation for when Lu Yin had been repeatedly attacked by experts from the Primal Beastland at the Umbral Deep.
Old Yu's suggestion was also founded on absolute certainty that Emperor Wu would not lose. After all, if Emperor Wu lost, how would he be able to preserve his reputation?
"Are you that confident in Emperor Wu?" Lu Yin asked.
Old Yu’s voice dropped low, "No matter what, he is the most powerful person in my megaverse, after the High Seraph. This battle will allow Emperor Wu to prove his power, but after the Day of Offering, he will fight you, Lord Lu. If you emerge victorious then, the Spirit Nidus will face greater pressure than ever before, as you will appear to be invincible. Besides, this battle will expose Emperor Wu's strength. What is there not to like?" ƒrēenovelkiss.com
Lu Yin’s eyes narrowed. "I won't trade my people’s lives."
"Wu Ji will die, I can guarantee that. It was Wu Ji who killed your people, not Emperor Wu," Old Yu affirmed.
Lu Yin soon lowered his spirit cloudstone.
Old Yu just wanted the Day of Offering to pass without issue. Not only had he come up with a solution to the current mess, but he had even paid for it to happen.
He had paid in the form of Codex 15.
Old Yu was aware that both Lu Yin and Su Shidao were extremely interested in Codex 15, and so Old Yu was giving that spirit formation to Boundless.
Lu Yin was greatly anticipating studying the sourcebox array.
"Give the order, Boundless is heading out. Our destination: the Primal Beastland."
Right after that, a tremor ran through the entire Hundred Grasses Domain. Boundless once again mobilized, and it sailed through outer space. As countless people watched on in amazement, the battleship headed towards the Primal Beastland.
Word instantly spread of the matter, and the entire Spirit Nidus immediately focused on the Primal Beastland. Would a great battle break out?
From the bow of the ship, Lu Yin looked back.
"For the first fight, allow me to go."
Lu Yin's eyes flickered. "Be careful."
In the Primal Beastland, Emperor Wu soon learned that Boundless was headed his way.
His face fell. If that's the case, then let’s go! Let's see who really is the most powerful of the Spirit Nidus’s Seven Seraphs!
At that moment, his spirit cloudstone trembled. Emperor Wu looked down and then heard Old Yu's voice. "Are you confident of winning? I can tell you that Lu Yin is the ruler of the Tianyuan Megaverse. Even after all of the battles he’s fought here, not once has he been pushed to his limit. I have a suggestion..."
The fact that Boundless was headed to the Primal Beastland set the entire Spirit Nidus ablaze with excitement.
Countless cultivators made their way towards the domain, including people from the Ascendant Hall.
Like the Consciousness Domain, the Primal Beastland held a special meaning. The domain represented all beast-form Spirit Rebirths across the entire Spirit Nidus, much like how the Ascendant Hall could be said to represent the human-form Spirit Rebirths. However, the beast-form Spirit Rebirths had always been suppressed by the human cultivators, which caused the Primal Beastland to have a lower status than the Ascendant Hall.
If a day came when Emperor Wu succeeded in reaching the same level as the High Seraph, all of the beast-form Spirit Rebirths in the Spirit Nidus would see the Primal Beastland as their sacred land. That would also cause the Primal Beastland's strength to surge precipitously.
Not all powerful beast-form Spirit Rebirth cultivators lived in the Primal Beastland, though none would deny that the vast majority did call the domain home.
Mountain lords stepped out and raised their heads to the sky while releasing roars of fury.
They were fearless. Since Boundless was headed their way, they readied themselves for a battle to the death. Their Primal Beastland was not to be trifled with!
Old Salamander sighed. "That Third Boss really doesn't care about anything. Is there still no word from the Ascendant Hall?"
A man as thin as a bamboo pole was standing near Old Salamander, and he was throwing occasional glances at a spirit cloudstone. "No."
Old Salamander sighed. "In theory, the Ascendant Hall will not allow a war this massive to erupt right now. If the Primal Beastland loses, it will mean the fall of all beast-form Spirit Rebirths."
The thin man gave Old Salamander a look of surprise. "Are you sure that the Primal Beastland will lose?"
Old Salamander nodded. "Absolutely. That Third Boss is far from the only powerful expert aboard Boundless. The ship represents the entire Tianyuan Megaverse! Just how many peak experts do you think are hiding there?"
"But Boundless does not have many who have reached the Origin realm," said Jiu Weihu[1] that appeared a short distance away. This meant that three of the Grand Mountain Lords had gathered.
Old Salamander gave her a bitter smile. "That’s just because you haven't seen them."
"That battle at the Umbral Deep really froze your heart, didn’t it, Senior? You don't intend to run away, do you?" Jiu Weihu teased.
Old Salamander's expression grew stiff. "Even if I die, I will die here in the Primal Beastland. I have already lived for long enough."
The thin man turned to stare at Old Salamander, surprised by his determination. The thin man was Yi Die,[2] another one of the seven Grand Mountain Lords.
"However, you are still young, so try not to die if at all possible," Old Salamander said with a sigh.
Yi Die and Jiu Weihu exchanged glances, each seeing confusion in the other's eyes. As Grand Mountain Lords, they were undoubtedly powerful, yet neither had the confidence to face Lu Yin head-on. What would happen if Emperor Wu lost?
The Primal Beastland's unique situation gave the domain a special status in the Spirit Nidus. It was that uniqueness that had forced the Grand Mountain Lords to stay within the domain, as they needed to protect the dignity of beast-form Spirit Rebirths.
"Both of you, I have decided to take a risk and attempt a breakthrough. If I am successful, my strength will completely transform, and I will at least be equal to Emperor Wu. If I fail, I will die, and my story will end. Please, I ask you both to stand guard for me," Old Salamander suddenly requested.
Yi Die and Jiu Weihu stared at Old Salamander in surprise. "A breakthrough? You?"
"You can still break through? Wait, aren't you already a Dukkhan? Are you trying to break through to the Immortal realm?"
Old Salamander was left speechless by the question. "Of course I’m not going to try to become an Immortal! If I were, what would be the point of saying anything at all? If that were the case, then forget Boundless—the entire Spirit Nidus would belong to me."
Jiu Weihu rolled her eyes. "Fair enough. If you managed to enter the Immortal realm, then let alone Lu Yin, not even the High Seraph would be your match."
Old Salamander sighed. "Living for so long grants its own advantages. I once believed that I had already reached the pinnacle of my strength, but long ago, possibly around the time when you were born, or maybe around when your grandfather was born, I obtained a new understanding of my innate gift, and that understanding will allow my strength to rise even more.
"However, because of how long I’ve lived for, my heart has grown lazy. Even after your grandfather died and you were well on your own path of cultivation—in fact, even when you rose to strength and became one of the Primal Beastland Grand Mountain Lords—I never intended to make the attempt."
Yi Die frowned. It sounded like this old bastard was insulting them.
Old Salamander waxed nostalgic, "I thought that I would live a simple, mediocre life, until that battle at the Umbral Deep. Only then did I regret not attempting to make that breakthrough. If I had succeeded before, Lu Yin might not have been able to defeat me. Now, threatened with him yet again, I have no choice but to at least try. Even if this pushes me towards death, I must protect our Primal Beastland and uphold the dignity of us beast-form Spirit Rebirths."
