Starforce Warriors-Chapter 593: Heroes Of The Past?
Chapter 593: Heroes Of The Past?
“This is the place.”
“Almost got fooled by this abomination.”
“Who would’ve thought the Tan family’s awakened bloodline would be corpse-controlling? And they’re secretly controlling the Corpse Emperor too... courting death.”
“Kill them.”
“Ha! Using the dead to fight? Then let’s make them die again.”
There were six intruders in total. They were brazen, their arrogance palpable as they attacked while casually exchanging remarks.
Two of them wielded the power of flames, two appeared to manipulate gravity, and the remaining two were pure melee Saints armed with high-powered chainsaw blades and swords. They were clearly well-prepared. Their abilities and weapons were specifically tailored for combating zombies. Burn, suppress, and destroy.
They coordinated seamlessly to annihilate every zombie guard that surged toward them, reducing them to ashes and fragments of flesh.
The defining characteristic of zombies, fearlessness in the face of death, was rendered useless. Even severed limbs or other grievous injuries were minor inconveniences, especially for the high-level zombies enhanced by corpse-controlling techniques. Some could fight on even without their heads.
But this invading team’s precise synergy eradicated the advanced zombies without allowing them to display their resilience. It took them mere moments to break through the first ten levels of the Corpse Emperor’s lair. They pushed deeper into the stronghold, striking down many zombie guards before they could even emerge.
Even Saint-level zombies, the elite of the undead forces, failed to mount an effective resistance. They were destroyed one by one under the blitzkrieg assault.
“Tan Qingying, get out here!” The leading figure bellowed, his voice like thunder as it echoed through the Corpse Emperor’s Abyssal Tower.
Their advance had been swift and unstoppable, like a blade cutting through paper. Not only were they immensely powerful, but they also seemed highly familiar with the layout and defenses of the Abyssal Tower.
Boom!
A pillar of fire erupted, blasting Corpse King Xiao Bieli backward. Suddenly, his trajectory abruptly shifted ninety degrees downward as the gravitational field enveloping him forced his entire body to slam into the ground, pinning him down.
Swish! Swish!
The whistling sound of air being sliced apart heralded the approach of chainsaw blades, aimed directly at Xiao Bieli’s neck.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
The high-powered oscillating chainsaws, capable of tearing through Saint-level bodies in an instant, sparked as they struck Xiao Bieli’s neck. It was as if they had hit celestial steel.
“So, the Deputy Leader of the Great Xia Dragon Group has become a Corpse Saint.” The flame-wielding leader of the intruders sneered as he recognized Xiao Bieli. “Once a revered and noble son of the Xiao family, but now reduced to nothing more than someone else’s puppet. What a pitiful end.”
Crimson flames shot from his palms.
Sizzle.
The sound of flesh tearing filled the air. Despite Xiao Bieli’s resilience, his neck was finally severed by the relentless high-powered chainsaw. But his corpse-ified body showed no hint of emotion, his expression remaining icy and indifferent.
He continued to struggle, attempting to counterattack. His skin, scorched black by the crimson flames, began to emit a putrid stench unique to burning corpse flesh.
"Kill!"
The intruder roared as he lifted his high-powered starforce chainsaw blade high in the air to decapitate Xiao Bieli in one swift blow.
Clang!
A rusty sword appeared out of nowhere, intercepting the downward blow.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Sparks erupted as the starforce chainsaw blade unleashed its energy, vibrating at high frequency. Normally, even the sharpest of divine weapons would shatter instantly under the might of this advanced extraterrestrial technology. But the rust-covered sword, despite its aged and corroded appearance, merely allowed sparks to fly with no sign of cracking.
"Hm?"
The swordsman gripping the chainsaw blade was momentarily taken aback. Adjusting his stance, he shifted his blade mid-motion.
Arcs of electricity instantly filled the air, illuminating the dim space. Dazzling blades of energy radiated from the chainsaw weapon. The strikes came in rapid succession, flowing endlessly in a relentless assault.
This advanced blade technique was undoubtedly a mythical-level martial art from the Great Xia martial lineage. The intruder demonstrated unparalleled mastery, yet the rusty sword didn’t falter.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
The sword’s light shimmered as it met the onslaught head-on, showing no signs of retreat. Every strike from the seemingly fragile weapon matched the ferocious power of the endless starforce-infused chainsaw blade, precisely deflecting each attack.
"Huh?" The swordsman wielding the chainsaw blade grew even more astonished.
The rusty sword blurred as it switched from defense to offense. Streams of sword light burst forth like sunlight piercing through a canyon. Countless radiant threads surged toward the intruder in an unrelenting torrent.
The swordsman felt a chill in his heart and quickly pulled back his starforce chainsaw blade to assume a defensive stance.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
The clash of blade and sword echoed again. Adrenaline surged as the swordsman summoned every ounce of his skill, executing his techniques with heightened focus. He pushed himself to his limits in the face of such a formidable adversary, feeling a rare and exhilarating sense of fulfillment.
Moments later, blade and sword parted. The figure wielding the rusty sword retreated, dragging the corpse-ified Xiao Bieli out of the range of the six intruders.
"Who would’ve thought," the swordsman said, breaking into a grin, "that such a master of swordsmanship could be hiding in this filthy place."
He paused, narrowing his eyes. "If I’m not mistaken, you must be the newly risen Saint Slayer, Li Xiaofei, correct?" fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
Across from him, Li Xiaofei stood firmly in front of Xiao Bieli’s corpse, sword in hand.
Though Xiao Bieli, the Deputy Leader of the Dragon Group, had long since died and only his body remained, Li Xiaofei was determined to protect him. He had failed to preserve Xiao Bieli’s soul, but he could at least safeguard his body.
The fact that the intruders knew his identity caught Li Xiaofei slightly off guard. But he maintained his composure, his grip tightening on the rusted sword, ready for what was to come.
"Who exactly are you?" Li Xiaofei asked, his tone calm but firm.
"That question is meaningless," the swordsman replied indifferently. "Eden has issued a kill order. Your death is inevitable. Once I take your head, I—"
Before he could finish, his expression froze as a flicker of disbelief spread across his face.
Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!
Fine lines of blood-red mist suddenly erupted from his chest. At first, they were almost delicately thin. But within moments, they turned into gushing streams of blood. The terrifying sword qi had erupted within his body with unparalleled ferocity. The icy energy accompanying it had numbed his senses, leaving him completely unaware of when he had been struck.
"When... when did this happen?" His eyes widened in shock as he stared at Li Xiaofei.
Slowly, his body began to collapse. The mist of blood spraying from his wounds crystallized into shards of ice, as his entire form was gradually enveloped in a silver layer of frost.
Boom!
His lifeless, frozen body crashed heavily to the ground, shattering the eerie silence in the room.
"Pathetic," Li Xiaofei said coldly. "You didn’t even realize you were already dead, and yet you kept babbling about Eden, trying to act superior in front of me."
Across from him, the faces of the remaining five intruders darkened.
"You actually managed to kill Old Six," the flame-wielding leader said, his tone now wary. "I underestimated you. No wonder you were able to kill the Flame Emperor and Phil Johnson, and even break the Lesser God's summoning technique. Li Xiaofei, do you have any idea who I am?"
"And who might that be?" Li Xiaofei asked flatly.
"I am the Xie family’s first ancestor," the man declared.
"What?"
"The Xie family of the Northwest was founded by none other than me. By bloodline, you, a native of the Northwest Great Xia, ought to address me as your ancestor."
Li Xiaofei was stunned by the revelation.
The Xie family’s first ancestor?
That meant this man was a monster from over three hundred years ago! But something didn’t add up. According to history, the Xie family’s founding patriarch had suffered severe injuries during the early wars defending the nation. Those injuries had drastically shortened his lifespan, and he was said to have died over two hundred years ago. His body was even interred in Xiajing’s Eight Treasures Mountain Martyrs’ Cemetery.
So how had he suddenly appeared here?
He had been taught in school that the Xie family’s first ancestor was a legendary national hero of Great Xia who had bled and toiled for the nation in its early years.
Why, then, is he attacking the Corpse Emperor’s Abyssal Tower today?
Questions surged through Li Xiaofei’s mind, each more perplexing than the last.
