Lin Ning walked alone in the alley.

She had been transported into an underground city of the alien race. Various buildings were constructed inside a huge cave, along with all sorts of bizarre creatures, such as half-human half-bulls, horses, wild boars, and lions; or those with winged backs, three heads and six arms, green faces and sharp fangs... It was almost like a gathering of deformed mutants.

These mutants ambushed from the shadows of buildings or alleyways, waiting for human Transcendents to pass by, then they would burst out to launch surprise attacks. They didn’t possess many supernatural abilities, but each of them was physically formidable; even if decapitated by the Flying Sword, they could continue fighting, which took Lin Ning quite some effort to defeat.

After experiencing several skirmishes, Lin Ning smartened up and kept the Invisibility Technique activated while navigating through the alleyways to avoid being detected by these mutants.

Crossing a neighborhood, she reached a spacious road and saw a few Ascetics standing there talking, with several mutants’ corpses at their feet.

Lin Ning sneaked closer to listen but couldn’t understand the Tianzhu language, so she circled around them and continued moving forward.

She had thoroughly surveyed the surroundings and encountered no Lu Country Cultivators but saw many Tianzhu Ascetics, gathered in groups of three to five, totaling in hundreds, systematically advancing into the interior of the district.

Lin Ning quickly realized that these Ascetics must have been organized to completely eradicate the mutants here and then use this place as a temporary base for Tianzhu.

Theoretically, it’d be best to evacuate now, otherwise once the Ascetics took total control, the risk of continuing operations here would greatly increase.

However, Lin Ning was daring and thought, if I could find the leader of these Ascetics and kill him, wouldn’t the opposition be headless?

No sooner said than done, she followed a team of Ascetics returning from a clearing mission and found their temporary camp built outside the city.

The camp, actually just a few scattered houses on the outskirts of the alien city, was heavily guarded by the Ascetics.

The leading man was a burly fellow with a full beard, looking to be in his thirties, his eyes emitting golden light—his irises were bright golden, continuously dazzling so much so that the surrounding Ascetics hardly dared to look straight into his eyes and respectfully called him "Ishana."

"The pace is too slow." Ishana, after receiving the report from his deputy, said, "Send word down, we must clear the targeted district by tonight, otherwise the slowest squad will be in trouble."

Clearing the district was simple in explanation. The Ascetics had thoroughly scouted the area, confirming it as an enclosed giant underground cave, and the only potential exit connecting to the outside world was the Dark River outlet hanging high on the cliff at the cave’s top, connecting to the city side through a Water Channel bridge.

To reach the Dark River outlet, they had to first carve a safe path through the city, then move along the path to the city’s Water Tower, climb to the top, and follow the Water Channel bridge to the Dark River location—failing to eliminate the Asura alien race would make them continuously attack the Ascetics during their movement, making the casualty numbers hard to control.

Ishana had various thoughts in his mind, understandably agitated. His initial plan was to strike through the Southern Border with a surprise attack, subdue the Witch King, and before Lu Country could intervene, completely merge Tianzhu and the Southern Border as one… but now he found himself ensnared in this Mysterious Realm, utterly disrupting all his plans.

However, there was a silver lining; the Sorcerers’ main force that had fought with the Ascetics might similarly have been swept into this place and couldn’t leave.

If he could quickly conquer this Mysterious Realm, use the Nerve Center to control the realm itself, he could then unleash Divine Power recklessly against the enemies within the realm. Once he annihilated the trapped Sorcerers’ main force, he could then teleport his forces out, making conquering the Southern Border much easier.

Regrettably, the casual and sloppy demeanor of the Ascetics made today’s clearing operations extremely difficult. Ordering them to swiftly clean the enemies from the streets, they would first kill a batch, then sit down to chat, banter, pick their toes, dragging out the work endlessly, and then sluggishly continue to fight the enemy.

After a day and night, they had only cleared about a dozen streets, infuriating Ishana to the point of pulling out the slowest squad and publicly executing ten out of eleven, beheading two men to restore some morale in his men.

Just as Ishana resolved to conduct another massive execution to boost morale, suddenly, a subordinate came to report that two squads heading to the Southern District were attacked near the camp by unidentified persons.

Of the forty-plus men in the two squads, only six or seven escaped back, and none of them could even see who the enemy was… Furious, Ishana smashed a table on the spot and decided to go out and check the camp’s perimeter to see who the formidable enemy was.

At the edge of the camp, behind a building, Lin Ning activated her Green Bamboo Sword to kill another Ascetic, secretly feeling elated.

What, Ascetics are this weak! I thought they were able to fight back and forth with the Southern Border Sorcerers, at least having some real skills!

Okay, you continue to exterminate the monsters, while I’ll exterminate you until your leader can’t sit still and has to come out.
