Chapter 89: It Should Be A Crime

The fact that Gina was being considered for the vice-captain role meant there was a chance she would get it too! This could not only increase the amount of time she goes into Gates, but it would also increase her salary and benefits within the guild! Gina’s happiness was obvious, and Jane smiled at this, but what Jane said next made Gina’s smile dim.

"We are still considering you, but we have also been looking into our recent earnings and the guild has really been struggling financially. With the recent increase in the number of Gates, the SMD will likely start to give more Red Gate contracts to the lower guilds, but our guild doesn’t have much chance of beating the other C Rank guilds since our leader is only a high-level C Rank. The guilds with B Rank leaders are more likely to get contracts over ours. So we were talking and we remembered that a friend of yours recently got an awakening. I think his name was Jason. I know this might come off as presumptuous, but we were wondering if you wouldn’t mind asking him to join our guild."

As Jane spoke, Gina’s smile faded more and more until it was barely straining on her face. She was looking at Jane with a look of slight confusion, and it wasn’t long before the look turned to exasperation. Gina always knew that this conversation would happen. It was impossible for the guild to have seen what happened with Jason and not bring it up.

Gina never hid her relationship with Jason in the past. Almost every woman in the guild knew that Gina had a male friend she spoke about all the time, and the males knew better than to ask Gina out because she would always turn them down.

So once Jason awakened, Gina knew the guild would try to make her talk to him about joining. That was the reason why Gina brought it up earlier with Jason. She wanted to know Jason’s stance on things before anything else, and she wanted to make sure she knew what to say to her superiors whenever they asked.

But Gina wasn’t disappointed by the fact that they asked her to invite Jason over. Instead, Gina was disappointed in the fact that they were trying to use her promotion as some sort of chain to tie Jason to this guild. What they were doing now was nothing short of emotional manipulation. They were trying to make Gina consider bringing Jason into the guild just so that she could get a promotion.

At that moment, Gina felt an incredible amount of anger filling her heart for the entire guild! If they had asked her to talk to Jason without using her promotion as a chain, then she wouldn’t have minded at all, and everything would have been okay! But she hated anyone trying to use her to get to Jason! It made her sick!

Gina gave Jane a hard stare and spoke in a no-nonsense tone.

"Sorry ma’am, but Jason isn’t interested in joining any guilds right now."

Jane blinked in surprise at the hard tone that Gina used with her. Just a moment ago Gina had been smiling happily, but now Gina looked like she was ready to walk away at a moment’s notice. Jane immediately realized that she had done something wrong and it didn’t take long before she recognized how Gina had interpreted her previous statement!

"Wait, we aren’t trying to make you bring him in just for the promotion! I simply wanted you to help us talk to him! Whether he comes in or not won’t affect your promotion in any way."

Jane immediately tried to explain what she meant, but Gina didn’t care anymore. Gina knew that Jane might not have meant it directly, but there was no way Jane didn’t know how her words would be seen. Jane had tried to manipulate her and Gina was no longer interested in hearing more about this.

"Yes, I understand ma’am. I’m sorry, but can I be excused? I need to get home quickly since it’s Jason’s birthday today."

Gina turned around to leave and Jane sighed tiredly. She had really fucked that up.

——

Gina came out of the shower in the ladies changing room a few minutes later. Her hourglass figure was covered with a short white towel that couldn’t fully contain her round behind and allowed some of it to peek through from beneath. There was some cleavage showing from the top of the towel and the other women in the changing room couldn’t help but look at Gina in envy when they saw how well she filled out that towel.

"Look at those breasts. They’re huge."

"How don’t they sag? Shouldn’t they have some sag when they’re that large?"

"It’s like we’re two different species. I don’t even want to look at her anymore. Fuck."

"Shh, she might hear you. Don’t you know she might be the new vice-captain?"

"I heard she beat Randy today. Some of the others were talking about the vice-captain position. Do you think they’ll really give it to her?"

"I think they’ll give it to Randy. He’s a nice guy and he’s strong."

"Yeah, but Gina is stronger."

"One battle doesn’t change anything. Have some sense."

Gina was drying her red hair with a towel while ignoring the comments from the other women. Women were naturally jealous of one another, so Gina didn’t really mind the things that others were saying since she was already used to hearing them and she just smiled at one of her friends who was also changing. They had all been training throughout the day since there would be a new mission that week, so they were really tired from the long day.

"You should be arrested for looking that good in a towel. I’m going to find out how your boobs grew to be that big one day, I promise you."

Gina’s friend, a short brunette with small boobs and a thin waist, looked on in envy as Gina opened her locker and took her things. Gina just laughed at her friend’s words as she sat down to put on her stocking. Her friend was always saying that Gina was far too sexy but and Gina just didn’t allow her words to get to her.

"If you find the secret then let me know too. I don’t really do anything."

Gina said this with a laugh and her friend just sighed before changing the topic.

"Heard you beat up Randy today. Can’t believe someone finally defeated him. I was starting to think he would never go down."

Randy was seen as the most undefeatable member of the Panthers because of how powerful he was, so there were a lot of people who thought that he just continue his unbeaten run forever.

Gina shrugged. It was already common knowledge that she beat Randy and she was just enjoying the praises while trying to think about how in the world she managed to get this much stronger. The answer was still not obvious to her, so she would have to think about it for a little longer.

"I just got lucky. He wasn’t expecting me to come at him that hard."

Gina answered while putting some lotion on her fair skin and her friend just shook her head.

"No, you beat him fair and square. In a fight, it doesn’t matter if you’re prepared or not, what matters is who wins."

Gina hummed before she smiled. Her friend was definitely right. Gina had won and that was all that mattered.
