Strongest Necromancer System-Chapter 92: Don’t Do Anything!
Chapter 92: Don’t Do Anything!
The agent’s brow furrowed in shock as she pulled back from her binoculars! She blinked in surprise before she leaned forward again to get another look, only to see that the scales were still there!
The agent immediately realized that the woman Jason was carrying wasn’t human at all! She was an inter-world traveler!
The agent immediately dropped everything and put a call through to her superior to inform her of what was going on! It would have been something small if Jason was only carrying a regular human, but the fact that he was carrying an inter-world traveler meant that he had not only entered a Gate, but he also made contact with someone from another world! This was a big deal!
[Please tell me you have some good news. And before you say anything, you should keep in mind that your job depends on it.]
This was the first thing the superior said to her when she picked up the call, and the woman felt a little bit of irritation fill her heart before she shook her head and got rid of it! She immediately spoke up in a low voice.
"Ma’am, I found Jason. He just arrived from the New York Subway. But there’s a problem."
On the other end of the call, her superior sat up slowly with a sigh. She was happy when she heard the agent say that she found Jason, but it was never a good sign when she heard any of her agents say that there was a problem. It usually led to arrests and paperwork. Lots of paperwork.
[What is it? Did anyone die?]
The first thing that came to the superior’s mind was that there had been a battle and people had been killed. If that was what happened, then they were going to be in even bigger trouble than she initially thought. Superhuman battles outside of Gates always ended badly. But what the agent said next actually turned out to be far worse than what she could have ever imagined.
"Jason Marc entered a Gate and made contact with an inter-world traveler. He brought her back to Earth, and they are together right now."
[What!?]
For a short moment, the superior actually lost all her sense of calmness as she stood from her desk! She paced in her office while running a hand over her face, and the agent could literally hear her mumbling to herself over the phone like a crazy person. Finally, the superior spoke up again.
[How in the world did this happen? Were there any signals for a Gate opening recently?]
"No, ma’am. I believe it might’ve been a Dimensional Tear that was still in its premature phase. That’s why I wasn’t able to find it earlier. The magic density was too small for our sensors to pick it up."
The superior cursed from the other side of the phone before she finally stood in one place and she began to think about what they were to do next. A human meeting with an inter-world traveler was something they had tried their best to prevent for a long time now, and Jason just running into one of them like this was way outside of their predictions. This could lead to problems they weren’t ready to handle yet.
The agent waited patiently as her superior thought about their next course of action. She looked through her binoculars again to make sure that Jason was still there before she spoke up with a small frown.
"Ma’am, Jason Marc is currently sitting on a bench at the subway entrance, and I believe he’s waiting for someone to come pick him up. Should I... apprehend him before he leaves?"
[What? No! Don’t even think about going close to him! Do you understand me!? If he finds out about our existence because of your impulsiveness, then that will be the end for you! Sigh~ I’ll take this information to the higher-ups and they’ll decide what to do with it. For now, you’re to continue tailing him. Make sure that you don’t let the inter-world traveler out of your sight. Do you understand?]
"Yes, ma’am."
The agent clicked the phone off with a frown before she stuck her tongue out at it childishly! She hated how her superior was always treating her like an idiot! Her idea wasn’t a bad one at all, so why did she have to shoot it down like that!?
The agent sighed before turning back to where Jason was sitting. She looked through the binoculars and her brow furrowed when she saw a car pulling up beside Jason. She looked into the driver’s seat and saw that it was his girlfriend, Gina Fey.
"That’s one more person that knows about the inter-world traveler. I can already tell this is going to cause problems."
A further distance away, close to one kilometer behind the agent, a dark figure lay calmly on the top of a skyscraper and watched the agent with deep red eyes. The figure was lying in the shade of the building which prevented the moonlight from illuminating it and made it completely invisible to anyone who looked up the building.
The dark figure watched the agent closely, like a predator stalking prey, and the image in its sight was immediately transmitted back to Jason through the [Eye of the King].
Down on the ground in front of the subway, Jason let out a small laugh as he watched the agent through Fenrir’s eyes. Jason had suspected that someone was keeping an eye on him for a while now, and he sent out Fenrir to survey the region and report back anything that it found. Jason recognized the woman as the same one who had been stalking him earlier, and he wondered what the hell she could want from him.
Jason was too far away to listen to the conversation that the agent just had, but he could tell that she was definitely working with someone. Was it some sort of organization? It could be that the SMD still didn’t trust him and they sent the woman to keep an eye on him, or it could be that there was some other third-party organization that was trying to keep tabs on him for some reason. Jason didn’t know the reason behind them watching him yet, and even though he didn’t like it, he decided not to do anything about it for now. As far as the world was concerned, Jason was only an A Rank with an ocular ability that allowed him to see better than others. He wanted to keep things that way for the time being.
In a battle, it is best to pretend to be ignorant for as long as possible to allow your enemies to expose all their cards. Jason didn’t have any problems with her watching him since it would allow him to keep his eye on her as well. But if she dared to step out of bounds, then they would have problems.
...
"Jason... why is there an unconscious woman in my backseat?"
Gina’s hands tightened around her steering wheel as she said this, and her brow was raised high in surprise as she looked at the woman lying in the backseat through the rearview mirror. A feeling of both confusion and awe crossed through Gina’s heart as she looked at the woman’s face. Even with the face mask that the girl was wearing to hide her identity, there was no denying that the woman was extremely beautiful.
Gina turned to look at Jason and she felt her heart skip a beat unconsciously once she felt the power rolling off his body! What the hell happened to Jason while they were away from each other!? Gina still remembered how Jason’s power felt this morning and she knew it was nowhere this intense! It felt like Jason was trying to crush everything around him with his presence alone!
Jason was sitting down in the front seat and waiting for Gina to start moving, but there were literally too many questions in Gina’s head for her to even think about driving yet.
