Super God Grandmaster-Chapter 72 - 68 The Death of Ye Xue
Chapter 72: Chapter 68: The Death of Ye Xue
Chapter 72 -68: The Death of Ye Xue
In a valley, shrouded with vines, there was a wilderness. The dawn had only just begun to glow, and the fog had not yet dispersed.
Ye Chen’s arm throaned with unbearable pain, immobilizing it. It must have been dislocated. However, he cast the pain aside. His thoughts were all about his mother.
Among the tangle of vines, he found Ye Xue, soaked in crimson. Her blood had already coagulated. Her face was turning blue, and her breathing was faint. Ye Xue had clung tightly to her son when they had fallen. Despite the soft landing they got on a pile of vines after falling from such a height, she couldn’t dodge this calamity.
The blood had dyed her clothes red.
Ye Chen began to panic, crying, “Mom, wake up!” Tears streamed down his face. He looked around, shouting for help. But this was a wild forest; how could there be anyone around?
A cough sounded. Ye Chen rushed over, crying, using his other arm to prop his mother up.
Ye Xue weakly called Ye Chen’s name.
Ye Chen promptly knelt down and cried, “Mom, I’m here.”
Through blurred vision, Ye Xue saw her son. She seemed to derive some consolation from seeing him unharmed. She muttered, “I can’t go on.” Blood oozed from her mouth again.
“No, Mom, don’t talk. I’m going to find someone for help.”
“You won’t be able to find anyone, don’t waste your strength.” She stopped Ye Chen again, saying, “It’s no use.”
Ye Chen knelt down once more.
“You’ll have to take care of yourself from now on.”
“Mom, please don’t leave me.”
“You’re already thirteen, you should be able to take care of yourself. I can’t be with you in the future. You need to be a good person and never do anything wrong. Do you understand?” Her breath was faint, her voice barely a whisper.
“I understand, Mom, don’t worry.”
“In the future, before you take action, don’t be impulsive. Think carefully, always strive to do what is right.”
“I understand, I will. Please don’t talk anymore. I’m going to find someone.”
“My son…take good care of yourself…” Her eyes revealed a reluctance to part.
“Mom, please don’t go.”
Despite everything, she seemed very worried.
“Mom, nothing will happen to you.”
As her hand gently stroked his face, her eyes became lost and unfocused. Blood poured steadily from her mouth. “You’re not little anymore. You should be able to discern what is right and wrong. Take care of yourself…” Her hand suddenly went limp.
Her eyes slowly shut.
“No…” Ye Chen burst out sobbing, constantly pleading, “Mom, don’t…” His cries startled the birds in the forest. Regardless of how loud he was, Ye Xue never woke up again. At that moment, time seemed to freeze.
He had seen death before in his village, but he never thought it would hit so close to home.
Ye Xue didn’t wake up again. Her hand gradually turned cold, as cold as the chilly stream nearby.
Ye Chen cried for an hour. He couldn’t accept it all. It felt like a nightmare, but everything was real. She was gone, she wouldn’t return, she would never return.
He buried his mother. His mind was a whirlwind of thoughts. If he knew this would happen, he would have never ever journeyed to Immortal City.
If they hadn’t gone to Immortal City, they wouldn’t have found out about his father. They wouldn’t have been banished. He wouldn’t have been targeted because he was Su Hong’s son. None of this would have happened.
Now, he was an orphan. An orphan that his own father refused to acknowledge.
His youthful spirit seemed to mature instantly. Reality is always cruel. If he had known of this outcome, he would have been content to be ignorant of his father’s identity forever. He choked back tears, questioning why this had happened. The arrogant Feng Nianmei and the weak Su Hong all flashed in his mind.
He shook his head, at a loss for what to do. Looking at the makeshift tombstone, his mother was really gone, she was no more. There was no one to discipline him. He would have to look after himself.
Should he go find Su Hong? Should he tell him about this?
A chill ran through his heart. Why would he go find him! He could barely acknowledge him as his own son. If it wasn’t for him, his mother wouldn’t have died. He couldn’t be weak, he definitely couldn’t let that mother and son laugh at him. He must uphold his mother’s dignity.
If Su Hong didn’t want to acknowledge him, then why would he demean himself by seeking him out?
He had survived for thirteen years. Why should he seek him out now? He couldn’t let them laugh at him. There was a limit to his patience and he had his pride. One day, he would regain face for his late mother.
Suddenly, voices were heard from behind. Ye Chen immediately went on full alert.
He hid in the forest. When he spotted people from the Demon Domain, he had the urge to attack them. However, he restrained himself since he knew any impulsive actions would be futile at this point.
A group of people were heading his way. It seemed they had just come down from the mountain.
Ye Chen panicked. Could it be that they were still looking for him?
He had to leave this place as soon as possible. Otherwise, he was in danger.
Ye Chen took one last glance at the hastily-made tombstone, then touched his dislocated arm. He quickly fled.
Huan Huo complained, “Damn it! We failed to capture them, all because of Guan Yi. We would’ve caught them otherwise.”
“I was careless. I didn’t expect them to fall from the cliff.” Sheng Kong said.
Shi Tuo added, “Now that the people of the Immortal and Demon Domains know we’ve returned to the Central Plains, we need to be more cautious.”
At this point, the trailing group returned, reporting, “They didn’t follow us.”
Upon hearing the news, Sheng Kong sighed in relief.
“As long as they didn’t follow us, that’s all that matters,” Huan Huo continued, “Do you think they will plan to retaliate against us?”
Shi Tuo fell silent for a moment, then said, “Regardless, we need to find Earth Demon Island.”
“Damn Demon Domain. They’re doing an excellent job at hiding. There’s no information at all.”
They had heard that the people of the Demon Domain knew the location of Earth Demon Island.
“We’re bound to gather some information,” Shi Tuo said. “But perhaps we should go to the coast to investigate further.”
Sheng Kong turned to look at him, muttering, “The coast!”
“Exactly, if they want to find Earth Demon Island, they’d definitely set off from the coast,” Shi Tuo said.
Sheng Kong nodded in agreement.
“We can’t linger here, after all, the people of the immortal-demon realm already know that we’re back in the Central Plains.”
“Alright, let’s leave this place.”
Ye Chen, stomach growling from hunger, had been lost as to how long he had been wandering. His arm dislocated, and not knowing how to fix it himself, he was entirely clueless about what to do.
Luckily for him, the demons from the Evil Domain had not followed him. He roamed aimlessly like a vagabond and found himself in a small town when dusk fell.
Looking at a store but having no silver taels, he watched others devouring bowls of noodles. His stubborn stomach rumbled in response. He thought about waiting for the customers to finish their meal so he could eat the leftovers.
Suddenly, a hunchback appeared on the scene. Using a cane and bearing the appearance of an old witch, the hunchback’s deformity did not impede its fast paced walk. It was as though it hailed from the immortal-demon realm. It carried weapons and seemed to notice his dislocated arm. With a wave of its hand, it summoned him over.
Ye Chen walked over, unsure of what the hunchback intended.
“Little beggar, is your arm dislocated?” the hunchback asked.
“Yes,” Ye Chen nodded.
“Come, let me have a look.”
“You can fix it?”
“Take a seat.”
The hunchback turned, took a brief look, and with a couple of manipulations, Ye Chen’s arm was restored, causing him to cry out only once. He knelt down immediately to thank the hunchback gratefully.
“Are you hungry?”
Ye Chen nodded eagerly.
“Boss, get him a bowl of noodles.”
At that moment, Ye Chen was so grateful he could weep. He was about to address the hunchback as his father.
“Are you alone? No family?”
“Yes, I’m alone. I have no family.”
“Come with me.”
Ye Chen hesitated for a moment before responding.
“I can offer you food.”
Ye Chen bowed his head and devoured his noodles. Lost and unsure where to go, he contemplated joining the Qingxuan Sect but ultimately decided against it. He did not want to be indebted to that man. He did not want to owe them anything for the rest of his life. His mother had died because of him. He had to believe he could survive on his own.
Ye Chen asked, “Are you from the immortal-demon realm?”
“What if I am?” The hunchback retorted.
“Could you teach me martial arts?”
“Of course, I could.”
“Okay, I’ll follow you.” The hunchback probably wasn’t a bad person considering he had helped him fix his arm.
The hunchback chuckled, “You won’t find many as kind as me.”
Having his arm fixed and given noodles to eat, Ye Chen bore some affections for the hunchback. Even though his arm was fixed, there was still some pain.
“Have you eaten your fill?”
Ye Chen nodded.
Standing up, the hunchback gathered his belongings and headed towards the city gate.
“Where are you heading?”
“To the coast.”
“Don’t you want to rest for the night before setting off?” It was getting dark.
“There’s still plenty of time. I need to hurry.”
“Don’t you need a horse for your journey?”
“No need for a horse. This would be a good chance for you to toughen up.”
Ye Chen quickly followed.
They spent that night in a cave. After a night of rest, his aching arm had nearly healed.
Early the next morning, he woke up to the smell of roasting meat. The hunchback was already awake and preparing food.
As Ye Chen massaged his aching arm, the hunchback threw him a white bottle, instructing him to apply the salve inside it on his dislocated arm, claiming, “Apply this. It will help to reduce the swelling.”
“Thank you.” Ye Chen did as he was told. “What are you going to do at the coast?” he asked, while feasting on his meal.
“Some business.”

Since the hunchback was unwilling to elaborate, Ye Chen refrained from pressing any further.
