Chapter 221 - Raid II

The next morning, Dave logged back into Satisfy. A familiar light surrounded him as he materialized inside Winston City. His character stood on the balcony of the building he'd logged off in, watching the early morning mist drift across the cobbled streets.

Down below, Grid stood waiting with a glowing, obsidian-black greatsword slung across his back.

"So, this is it?" Dave asked as he approached.

Grid gave a small, proud nod. "Yeah... I poured everything into this one."

He handed the weapon over, its data window opening before Dave as he gripped the hilt.

[Phantom Fang] has been acquired.

Dave's eyes glinted behind his character's mask as he read the stats. "Beautiful... this is beyond what I imagined."

Grid scratched his head, smiling awkwardly. "I was going to go with a different design, but the drake materials screamed 'split weapon,' so... there it is. I call it Phantom Fang."

"So you used that production method among them?" Dave asked as he nodded.

Euphemia brought out two greatswords. One was the Phantom Fang, and the other was the Earth Tyrant. Both required drake body parts as materials—but the Phantom Drake... well, it suited Phantom Fang best.

Dave drew the weapon and turned it slowly. The surface was a black so deep it reflected almost no light, yet shimmered faintly like oil on water. He tapped one of the barely visible knobs on the hilt. With a faint metallic click, the blade split in two—a larger curved sword in his right hand, and a dagger-like offhand blade in his left.

"It's balanced perfectly..." he murmured, giving it a few test swings. The blades hummed faintly with each motion, as if echoing with spectral energy.

Grid folded his arms. "That sword's designed for one thing—destroying opponents quickly. The more you hit, the more lethal it becomes."

Dave grinned. "Exactly what I wanted."

"At least your blacksmithing isn't as trash as your control skills," he added with a teasing smirk.

Grid glared at him. If it had been anyone else, someone weaker, he might've already slashed them with the greatsword in his hand. But knowing Dave's strength, he could only swallow his anger and scowl.

"I wonder why a mage like you even needs a greatsword?" Lauel suddenly asked, raising a brow.

Dave turned to him with a straight face. "I was wondering too, what a child like you doing here?" he said flatly.

Lauel covered his face with a dramatic sigh. "You jest so often, yet none know the depth of my sorrow... I was a black dragon in my reverse life," he whispered eerily, breaking into a strange, theatrical laugh.

Grid leaned toward Dave, deadpan. "I don't know him."

Dave shrugged. "Small things."

"Ahem, anyway," Lauel cleared his throat, dropping the act. "I'm seriously curious—why do you need a greatsword when you can't even use it properly? You are Mage after all"

"I'm dual class," Dave answered calmly.

Euphemia blinked. Grid and Lauel both looked at him with a bit of surprise.

"I guess that explains it," Grid said, rubbing his chin. "When we met, you were using a sword, so I figured your main class was melee... which means the mage—or legendary mage—class must be your second one, right?"

Dave gave a slight nod.

Lauel stared at him for a moment, then sighed. "A dual-class user with a legendary-class second path... Man, you're either insanely lucky or just a great gamer."

"What do you think?" Dave asked with a grin.

Lauel smiled. "The latter. You already proved that in the National Competition."

Dave smiled, satisfied with the answer.

"Still," Lauel continued, folding his arms thoughtfully, "dual classes aren't easy to balance. Especially when one is melee and the other is magic. Most players would end up average at both."

"But I'm not most players," Dave replied calmly, his confidence unwavering.

Euphemia chuckled. "Yeah, we figured that out after the first five minutes of fighting beside you."

Grid nodded slowly. "And now you've got a greatsword made from Phantom Drake materials. Not just anyone can wield something like that effectively."

"I plan to," Dave said, unsheathing the newly forged weapon and examining its sleek black surface. The twin-knob mechanism gleamed faintly in the light.

"So... what's it called?" Euphemia asked curiously.

Dave looked at the weapon for a moment and then said with a quiet grin, "Fangsplitter, At least that's what I want to call it buts its name is Phantom fang."

Lauel whistled low. "Dramatic name. Let me guess—splits into two?"

"Exactly," Dave replied. "A sword to match both paths. One for raw power... the other for swift attacks."

"Now only the set remains," Grid said as Dave looked at him and nodded.

The greatsword, was made for free, in return for helping Grid when he was in danger. But there was still another debt he needed to repay—a legendary equipment set for the legendary skill Dave had given him.

"I'm happy with this for now. I'll call you later when I need it," Dave said, and Grid nodded.

"Okay then..."

"Woah, did you guys see it?" Just as Dave was speaking, someone barged in—it was Diana.

"Oh, you have guests here," she said, looking at Lauel, Euphemia, and Grid. "Well, okay, what were you talking about?" she asked.

Dave nodded toward her. "Nothing much. What's up?"

"Look at the news. You'll see," Diana said, tossing a sly grin.

Dave inwardly smiled, already knowing what Diana was referring to. Still, he played ignorant and turned to watch the screen. As the broadcast played, his smile widened.

'Finally... it's here. The Braham Raid,' he mumbled inwardly while the others looked on, shocked by the massive golem army invading the Eternal Kingdom.

"Wait, wasn't the Eternal Kingdom a neutral kingdom? So why is there such an army invading it?" Lauel said, rubbing his chin, not realizing it was Grid—the trouble magnet—who was the cause of this mess.

'Anyway its an chance for us' Lauel mumbled as he glanced at grid and then at Dave, 'Although Dave is powerful, but in the long run, its Grid who will end up as king' he thought knowing no player would give up on the temptation of great items Grid makes, It is evident from the fact that even Dave himself is exchanging favors for Grid Item.
