Supernatural Insight Eyes-Chapter 58 - 0056 Shangguan Dao
58: 0056 Shangguan Dao
58: 0056 Shangguan Dao
The room fell quiet due to the arrival of the unfamiliar man.
It was clear that the stranger had come for Shangguan Hong, and everyone’s gaze turned to her all at once.
“I’ve told you before, I don’t want to go back,” Shangguan Hong said, her complexion back to normal, her words icy cold as if the man in front of her was a complete stranger.
“You won’t leave because of him?” the man pointed at Ye Qiu lying on the hospital bed.
Shangguan Hong didn’t speak, her face not looking very good.
The mysterious man walked up to Ye Qiu, took a glance, and said indifferently, “I see nothing special about him.
If you’re refusing because of him, you’ve disappointed me greatly.”
“He told you everything, huh?
Heh, tell him to give up,” Shangguan Hong replied coldly.
“Is it worth it?” the man said flatly.
“That’s none of your business,” Shangguan Hong responded coldly.
The man’s expression darkened a bit, Shangguan Hong’s steadfastness making him somewhat embarrassed.
“Fine,” the man suddenly sighed, “But, I’d like to talk to him.”
He indicated Ye Qiu, showing his intent to speak with him.
“He’s injured, just go back, there’s nothing for you two to talk about,” Shangguan Hong refused.
Yet, the stranger’s gaze fell on Ye Qiu, with a hint of amusement in his eyes.
“Everyone, please leave.
I’d like to hear what he has to say to me,” Ye Qiu suddenly told everyone, smiling at Ye Zi and the others.
Ever since the stranger had entered the room, there had been something off about Shangguan Hong’s expression.
After carefully considering the dialogue between the two, Ye Qiu had a hunch about who the man could be—he had a vague idea about the identity of the person before him.
“I’m not leaving!” Ye Zi immediately refused.
“Don’t worry, he won’t lay a hand on me,” Ye Qiu said with a smile, withdrawing his hand from Ye Zi’s grasp and assuring her, “Don’t you trust your brother’s judgment?”
Ye Zi was silent for a while, scanning the stranger with her eyes before nodding her head and saying, “Alright, I’ll listen to what you say.”
After saying this, Ye Zi slowly walked out of the room, and upon seeing this, Shen Mengchen and Niu Yinyin quickly followed suit.
“You should go out as well, I think this is a conversation between two men,” Ye Qiu said to Shangguan Hong, who stood aside with a troubled expression.
Shangguan Hong looked into Ye Qiu’s eyes and, without a word, turned and left the room.
When the women had left, only the two men remained in the room.
“What’s your relationship with Shangguan Hong?” Ye Qiu was the first to break the silence.
Upon hearing this question, the stranger smiled, but then his smile faded, and his tone took on a bit of arrogance: “Shangguan Dao!”
Upon hearing this name, Ye Qiu knew his guess was right; the guy really was Shangguan Hong’s brother.
Because that day, after Shangguan Hong used him as a shield at the coffee shop blind date, on their way back to the Goddess Villa, he heard Shangguan Hong mention she had a brother.
“Yin Shaoxiong wasn’t lying, it seems you are indeed Hong’s ‘boyfriend’!” Shangguan Dao emphasized the word “boyfriend” with a particular stress.
Ye Qiu was taken aback by this label; his role as her boyfriend was purely fake, only meant to help Shangguan Hong get rid of that man at the time.
Who would have thought Shangguan Hong’s brother truly believed he was her boyfriend.
However, he took note of the name Shangguan Dao mentioned, which must have been the man who had the blind date with Shangguan Hong.
“You don’t deserve to be with her.
Leave her while you can,” Shangguan Dao said, staring at Ye Qiu with a very serious expression, his tone forceful and insistent, quite domineering.
Ye Qiu remained silent, only listening as Shangguan Dao continued, “Do you even know who Hong is?
What makes you think you have the right to be with her, you two are not compatible at all.”
“Look at you, dressed in nothing but street stall clothes, with such plain looks.
Could it be your family background is anything but ordinary?
I doubt it.
I’ve seen all the famous families in China, and the young members of those families.
You must be the kind that doesn’t make it to the stage, so I advise you to give up on being with her.”
“Because, your relationship is doomed to not last long, and our Shangguan family will never consent to Hong marrying a man like you.”
Shangguan Dao’s words were undeniably harsh, a blatant display of disdain and contempt—implying he simply didn’t care about Ye Qiu at all.
Ye Qiu listened calmly as the other party finished, feeling an urge to laugh at their arrogance, assertiveness, and domineering attitude.
“May I ask you a question?” Ye Qiu suddenly said.
“Speak,” Shangguan Dao replied indifferently.
“Your Shangguan family sounds very powerful, but I want to know, does such a powerful family also need to sacrifice the happiness of their children for stability?”
“If you’re saying that the safety of the family is indeed exchanged for a moment’s stability at the cost of a child’s lifetime of happiness, do you think, as a member of such a family, you could still say what you just did?”
“It’s true that Shangguan Hong is part of the Shangguan family, and she’s rarely gone back over the years, striving on her own outside, such a strong woman.
To choose to sacrifice her happiness for the family, do you think that’s fair?
Or is it that all large families are just as cold-blooded?”
“As her brother, do you also think it’s natural to sacrifice your sister’s happiness for the family’s sake?
If you really think so, I understand why Shangguan Hong doesn’t want to go back.”
“Do you know why?” Ye Qiu sneered, “Because of cold-heartedness, because of heartlessness, because there’s no warmth!” freēnovelkiss.com
Ye Qiu’s words, swift and incisive like bullets, struck heavily against Shangguan Dao.
In fact, these truths were known to everybody.
Shangguan Dao, a clever man himself, certainly understood this, but subconsciously, he still hoped that Shangguan Hong would marry into the Yin family, which would secure a stronger position for their clan.
“Such a cold and distant family and kin, better not to see them at all.
Is Shangguan Hong wrong in doing what she does?” Ye Qiu added another sentence.
What he was saying now were largely the words that Shangguan Hong had spat out to him that day, the true feelings in her heart.
Shangguan Dao’s face quickly turned ugly.
Every sentence from Ye Qiu made him feel a twinge of shame: he indeed owed Shangguan Hong an apology, but the sense of family honor swiftly suppressed that budding feeling of regret.
Suddenly, Shangguan Dao reached out a hand, grabbed the collar around Ye Qiu’s neck, glared with terrifying eyes, and said coldly, “Family honor is above all, the existence of the family is above all.
If sacrificing one person’s happiness can ensure the safety of the family, so what!” He nearly shouted this.
Ye Qiu faced the nearly enraged Shangguan Dao calmly and countered coolly, “Every person has the right to make their own choice.
You’re not doing this for the family, but for yourselves, sacrificing others for your own loftiness.
It’s cruel!”
“You brat, it’s not your place to comment on matters of my Shangguan family!” Instantly, this addition from Ye Qiu thoroughly infuriated Shangguan Dao.
Ye Qiu’s words had belittled the Shangguan family as if it were a cold, unfeeling machine.
Furious, he couldn’t help but lash out with a punch.
Ye Qiu effortlessly blocked, his True Qi gathering in his palm, preventing his body from being blown away at first contact.
Shangguan Dao was momentarily stunned, blocked?
He suddenly felt he might have underestimated Ye Qiu.
Not just anyone could casually fend off his enraged punch.
This punch had at least seventy percent of his strength, yet Ye Qiu hadn’t moved an inch.
Shangguan Dao prepared to continue the attack, but at that moment, the door burst open, and four women rushed in.
“Stop!”
Having already heard noises in the room, the women had rushed in; upon seeing Shangguan Dao about to strike, they all stood in defense.
Knowing they could no longer fight, Shangguan Dao lowered his hand.
He gave Ye Qiu a cold stare and said, “Consider yourself lucky.
If it weren’t for these women protecting you, today, I would have put you back on a hospital bed.”
With that, Shangguan Dao cast a severe glance at Ye Qiu and left.
“Shangguan sister, who is he?” Niu Yinyin asked, addressing the strange man.
“He is my brother, Shangguan Dao!” Shangguan Hong said, at which Shen Mengchen and Niu Yinyin showed their astonishment.
Ye Zi checked Ye Qiu for injuries, relieved to find him unharmed.
She got up, ready to leave.
Ye Qiu grabbed hold of Ye Zi, “Where do you think you’re going?”
“I’m going to kill him,” Ye Zi said flatly.
Ye Qiu would not allow Ye Zi to take action, especially to kill Shangguan Hong’s brother.
That was even more impossible.
He felt a headache coming on; how could Ye Zi harbor such strong murderous intentions, always ready to kill at a moment’s notice?
Ye Qiu silently resolved to curb Ye Zi’s impulsiveness, to prevent her from acting recklessly.
