Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon's Might-Chapter 44 - Adventurer
44: Chapter 44 Adventurer
44 -44 Adventurer
Imperial center did not have many opportunities for adventurers, but regions on the margins of civilization were teeming with them.
Adventurers would arrive just like that.
Now a team of adventurers had arrived in the forest, targeting a dragon slaying.
A Red Dragon Young Dragon nicknamed as Red Blood Frenzy had apparently changed its name again.
“Yes, a Young Dragon lives here, it rules a group of Orcs and has conquered half of the forest.”
The campfire in the center of the camp crackled and popped.
It was still hot outside; there was no need for a fire to keep warm, nor was there any cooking needed since everyone had eaten not long ago.
Actually, not having a fire wouldn’t matter much, but without it, something seemed missing.
“Isn’t that Young Dragon exactly why we’re here?” The Human Warrior threw a stone at the campfire.
“Who knows if it’s a Two-legged Flying Dragon?” The Half-Elf Ranger smiled.
“Remember the last time…
they said it was some monster, a great crisis, a Witch Demon, but it turned out to be just a Wight.”
“I hate Red Dragons,” said the Dwarf Priest with a sour expression.
The Red Dragon was the Master of the Mountains, and the Dwarfs lived in the Mountain Kingdom.
Conflicts erupted frequently between them; who knows how many Dwarfs were cruelly killed or exploited by the Red Dragon, it was racial hatred.
“Even though it’s a Young Dragon, it won’t be easy to deal with,” the female Mage said, sitting on a stone and looking up.
“You’re not planning on running away now that we’ve come this far, are you?” the Human Warrior countered.
“You’re really in need of money,” the Human Warrior said, “and so am I.”
Normally, in the ecological sphere, there’s a certain balance in the reproductive capabilities of species.
For example, the larger the body size, the more resources it consumes, the higher it sits on the food chain, the weaker its reproductive ability.
Otherwise, the creatures at the lower end of the food chain would have no space to live, and these high-end creatures would not survive either.
Dragons, to some extent considered perfect creatures, have strong reproductive capacities, yet one of the reasons why there aren’t many dragons in this world is precisely because a dragon is valuable from head to toe, “the innocent must worry about their possessions.”
As long as there was an opportunity, no one could refuse to kill a dragon and make a great fortune overnight.
This has been true from individuals to Annis Hags, and now to this adventurer team.
Hearing the Human Warrior’s words, the female Mage fell silent.
As a Mage, she really was short of money; there were expenses everywhere, and although her family wasn’t poor, she still needed to supplement their income by adventuring.
The female Mage shut her mouth and lowered her head to browse through her Magic Book.
“The issue now is how to find its lair and best to trap it inside so it can’t fly away,” the Human Warrior said, thinking that flying enemies were the most troublesome.
“Fire.
It can breathe fire,” warned the Dwarf Priest, “We also need to be cautious about that.”
“Everyone knows that,” the Human Warrior smiled.
“That will be our lady’s task.”
“Let me be clear, I can’t provide Protective Energy to everyone,” emphasized the female Mage.
“You don’t need to think about giving everyone Protective Energy, just give it to me.
Then Brann,” the Human Warrior pointed at the Dwarf Priest, “You give me Devout Shield.” The Human Warrior raised his arms in a muscle-flexing pose, “With these two things, I assure you I’ll hold up, then it’s up to you guys.”
“How about it?” the Human Warrior winked at the others.
“For the sake of eliminating evil, I’m willing to do my part,” flirted the Half-Elf Ranger.
As they chatted, a cry rang out and a hawk falcon landed on the Half-Elf Ranger’s shoulder.
“When do we leave?” The Half-Elf Ranger looked at the sharp-eyed falcon on his shoulder.
“Pudding will lead the way for us; it has found that Young Dragon’s lair… halfway up the mountain.”
“It might be somewhat difficult to climb,” said the Half-Elf Ranger, glancing at the Dwarf Priest.
“What are you all looking at?” the Dwarf Priest said loudly.
Everyone burst into laughter, filling the camp with a cheerful atmosphere.
…
…
Leon didn’t know that a group of adventurers was searching for him in the forest.
For him, it was a day like any other – sunny and with fresh air, so he was completely unsuspecting.
After all, he was human…
even if he was a Dragon, as long as he wasn’t a machine, it was impossible to always maintain a high level of alertness.
Living like that would be very tiring and stressful.
Worrying every day about being hunted, sleeping with one eye open, fearing poison in every meal and checking food repeatedly…
that wasn’t living, that was paranoia.
Leon was indeed caught off guard.
He had no idea that a group of adventurers had reached the base of the mountain where his nest was located.
Constant vigilance wasn’t necessary, but having no sense of danger wasn’t wise either.
Doors that needed to be locked should be locked, windows that needed securing should be secured.
Leon did have a sense of danger; otherwise, he wouldn’t have placed his nest halfway up the mountain – assuming one had the ability to disregard Griffins and Two-legged Flying Dragons.
Today, he successfully thwarted that group of adventurers from sneaking into his lair.
“I can climb up.” A 90-degree angle is a wall, 89 degrees is a slope!
Even the steepest cliff-face was as flat as a road to the nimble Half-Elf Ranger.
“I can fly up.” The female Mage had Flying Skill.
To kill a Dragon, remembering Flying Skill is essential.
The Human Warrior looked up the midway up the mountain and sighed; he thought it was just a normal halfway up the mountain, at least with a path.
He hadn’t expected it to be so steep – hard to climb in plate armor.
His only option was to pay attention to the female Mage beside him.
Dwarves live in the Mountain Kingdom, mainly because the mineral veins are hidden within the mountains, not because they like climbing.
The Dwarf Priest looked at the sheer cliff and said seriously, “I think we shouldn’t go up.
We can’t move freely up there; the ground is where our advantage lies.”
This time, no one laughed at him because it was the truth.
What to do now?
They could only wait for the Red Dragon to land.
As if things in the world were that simple.
Leon woke up in the afternoon and saw shiny Gold Coins lying on the ground.
Curiously, he flew to the ground.
He was not greedy, so the Gold Coins didn’t captivate him; he smelled something unusual in the air.
“Come out!” Leon said as he stepped back, moving away from the big trees and bushes, while activating his Heavenly Eye Technique.
They actually thought such a foolish trick would work on him, which was laughable.
No Red Dragon would fall for that…
probably.
“It seems I’ve been discovered.” The Human Warrior annoyed, waved his fist, raised his shield, drew his Longsword, and stepped forward, “Big lizard.”
Leon saw fully armored Human Warrior, a stout Dwarf Priest which was easy to tell from his attire, a Half-Elf Ranger crouched on a tree with a bow aimed at him, and a female Mage holding a Magic Wand toward him…
He had long considered the possibility of adventurers coming to kill him, and today, it finally happened.

“Are you here to kill me?” Leon didn’t charge instantly.
By nature, he was human and preferred to communicate when possible.
“You’re definitely going to die today,” the Dwarf Priest stated, “Evil Red Dragon.”
“How am I evil?” Leon squinted in curiosity.
He wondered how others would treat him if he was a kind Red Dragon, “So which village have I destroyed, which estate have I robbed, or whom have I forced to become my slave?”
As a priest of a kind deity, the Dwarf Priest was somewhat shaken.
“Don’t waste words with it,” interrupted the Human Warrior, raising his sword at Leon, “An Evil Red Dragon must be killed by everyone; even if it hasn’t done evil yet, it definitely will when it grows up.
Our cause is just.”
“You’re clearly coveting my body, yet you speak so righteously.” Leon laughed.
“I just want to remind you—” Observing the Magic Spirit emanating from several people using Heavenly Eye Technique, Leon felt somewhat confident, “It’s still not too late to leave.”
If not necessary, he didn’t want to kill.
“I think you’re the one who’s planning to flee,” said the Human Warrior, “Go ahead, we will loot your lair.
Thanks for the hospitality.”
Leon couldn’t help but laugh; there was indeed nothing in his lair now, as he had hidden all the spoils of war collected along the way.
He didn’t feel burdened to flee, but he had his temper too; did they really think he was easy to bully?
“This is it, make your choice,” said Leon, “You’d better be ready.”
“A killer must be prepared to be killed.”
