Leon circled the sky and descended to the ground from afar, carefully approaching to observe the group of adventurers, planning the next sneak attack, never expecting the Half-Elf Ranger to spot him from such a distance.
This was quite normal; though the Red Dragon’s eyesight was sharp, the Half-Elf Ranger was no less capable, and being naturally skilled in forest terrain, it would have been surprising if he hadn’t noticed a Red Dragon in the forest.
“Is this a reckless Red Dragon, or a cunning Green Dragon?” The Red Dragon’s behavior was surprisingly out of character, causing the Human Warrior to openly scoff, declaring, “Living in the forest and then being so cunning…
it must be a crossbreed of Red Dragon and Green Dragon.”
The Human Warrior crossed his arms and suddenly had an idea, asking, “He’s not around now, right?”
“No.” The Half-Elf Ranger tilted his head towards the Human Warrior, “What’s your idea?”
“Old tactic.” The Human Warrior nodded to the female Mage, “Invisibility Technique.”
“You, me, and Sacos.” The Human Warrior pointed to himself, then to the female Mage and the Half-Elf Ranger, and finally patted the Dwarf Priest’s shoulder, “Brann, my old buddy, I need to trouble you to be the bait today…
When that Red Dragon returns and finds you alone, he surely won’t resist.”
“Why is it always me?” the Dwarf Priest muttered, complaining but eventually agreeing.
“Given the situation, that Red Dragon is very cunning, so we must be cautious, hold back from acting recklessly, and wait for the best opportunity to strike hard,” the Human Warrior shrugged, “Seriously, to think we need to use this tactic against a mere Red Dragon.
Spells aren’t to be wasted so freely.”
The female Mage nodded slightly, preparing the Invisibility Technique.
With no choice, their enemy was too cunning; let’s worry about later when it comes, otherwise, this would end now.
Meanwhile, after being chased away by the Half-Elf Ranger, Leon learned his lesson and instead of navigating through the woods, he circled in the sky from afar and noticed only the Dwarf Priest alone.
Considering this group of adventurers wasn’t ordinary, with an average level around eight or nine, or perhaps even higher, Leon hesitated for a moment, then decisively used the Gathering Form and Scattering Energy to approach the Dwarf Priest, and only then saw the others invisibly ambushed nearby.
Heavenly Eye Technique proved invaluable.
Whose fish is being baited, huh?
Leon didn’t hesitate, turned around and left, then thought for a bit.
A flash of inspiration hit, and he waited some time until his body was ready to re-enter the Gathering Form and Scattering Energy state, flew up again, swooping over the Dwarf Priest’s head and landed some distance away from him.
“Why is it just you here?
Where are your friends?”
Leon raised his hand and grasped into the air, summoning back the Flying Sword and holding it, readying the Sword Control Technique.
“One person is enough to deal with you, Evil Dragon.” The Dwarf Priest raised his shield, then quickly covered himself in spells.
A Devout Shield was not enough; another Spiritual Guardian appeared out of thin air, taking the vague shape of an angel, and hmm, add a Spiritual Body Weapon — now he had a Flying Sword as well.
The Spiritual Body Weapon moved; Leon’s Flying Sword struck it first, followed by the Spiritual Guardian – that thing was rather troublesome – and finally, the Dwarf Priest.
As the Spiritual Body Weapon and Spiritual Guardian fell one by one, the Flying Sword came again; the Dwarf Priest was forced to start blocking with his shield, also ducking to evade, awkwardly defending against Leon’s Flying Sword.
Leon controlled the Flying Sword, toying with the Dwarf Priest, pretending not to see the few invisible people slowly approaching him, getting closer and closer, especially the Human Warrior who was nearly ten steps away from him; it was almost too late to leave.
Suddenly, a Gathering Form and Scattering Energy brushing past the Half-Elf Ranger, aggressively targeting the Dwarf Priest.
Leon dared not bother the female Mage again; her spells were truly a headache, feeling a bit timid after suffering a loss with the Half-Elf Ranger, and not wishing to pry open a ‘tin can’, focusing on the Dwarf Priest…
Really, having played the role of an adventurer before without thinking much, indeed, it’s always best to eliminate the healer first; without taking down that Dwarf Priest, with his spells, others would also be difficult to defeat.
Devout Shield, Holy Sanctuary Technique, Healing Wounds, Healing Truth, Return Technique…
Just thinking about it is deadly.
“Brann, it’s targeting you, run!”
Leon had no idea how the Half-Elf Ranger discovered him and even guessed his intentions; he hurried his actions, grabbing the bewildered looking Dwarf Priest by his short legs, pulling hard and knocking the Dwarf Priest down, then took a deep breath and breathed out the Samadhi True Fire.
The attack of the Half-Elf Ranger quickly interrupted Leon’s Samadhi True Fire, but it was too late.
Samadhi True Fire is not an ordinary flame – other than avoiding it, do not expect Flame Resistance to be of any use.
The Dwarf Priest stopped moving, the air filled with the scent of scorching, the smell of burnt fabric and roasted meat.
Hmm, indeed, Samadhi True Fire is necessary.

Leon succeeded in striking and didn’t stay; he fled towards the forest again, despite an arrow from the Half-Elf Ranger hitting his buttocks which was slightly painful but didn’t affect his movement and was not a significant injury.
There was no way to dodge the female Mage’s Arcane Missiles, luckily the attack power of the Arcane Missiles wasn’t very strong.
As for the Human Warrior in his tin can armor, he could only be furiously incompetent and ineffectual in his venting.
“Dammit, that damned dog.” The Human Warrior cursed Leon’s retreating figure.
“Brann, wake up, drink this.” The Half-Elf Ranger was no longer concerned about the Red Dragon, he rushed to the Dwarf Priest’s side and poured a Healing Potion into his mouth.
“It can definitely see through invisibility,” the female Mage affirmed confidently.
“That Red Dragon is very strange.”
The Human Warrior stayed silent, his plan had gone awry, resulting in the Dwarf Priest’s misfortune.
“Kill him, I must kill him,” the Half-Elf Ranger’s eyes were bloodshot, despite often bickering with the Dwarf Priest, the two actually had a good relationship.
“It’s really cunning, we can’t take it lightly anymore.” The Human Warrior placed his hand on the Half-Elf Ranger’s shoulder, “Let’s take Brann back now, see if we can wake him up.”
Anger was useless now; saving a life was what mattered.
The Half-Elf Ranger bit his lip tightly and nodded forcefully.
The Human Warrior picked up the Dwarf Priest on his back, saying, “Let’s go, be aware, the prey has become the hunter now.”
The Half-Elf Ranger looked around, not caring whether the Red Dragon was around, and shouted, “This isn’t over, this matter isn’t over.”
Samadhi True Fire had been used up, no trump cards left, little mana remaining, but managing to counter-kill one in a four-against-one was a huge advantage gained, which was completely sufficient.
Leon, in fact, didn’t look back at all, nor did he become any hunter; he sped up towards the abandoned fortress.
“Master, you are injured.” Lorug noticed Leon was covered in blood, gasping for breath, and in a sorry state.
“Help me heal,” Leon himself struggled to remove the arrow.
“Alright, master, bear with it, I need to remove the arrow first to heal you.”
“Hurry up.”
Leon endured the pain as the Orc helped him remove the arrow, pulling it out, another round of pain inflicted.
The Orc’s Healing Skill was very effective, Leon quickly felt his wound itch as it visibly began to heal, though the scales would take longer to regrow.
“That’s better,” Lorug withdrew his hands, “The rest of the injury will have to heal on its own.”
Leon moved around to check, indeed feeling much better.
“Prepare me some food.”
“I will stay here for a few days.”
Leon stayed in the Orc encampment for three days.
Apart from the scales not yet grown back, his injuries had completely healed.
In those three days, none of the adventurers came looking for him, presumably busy trying to save the Dwarf Priest, and Leon wondered whether those killed by the Samadhi True Fire could still be revived, and since no other adventurers had appeared, he had a lot of time to think about many things.
Unable to afford a car or a house was no problem, not being able to rent even a single room with meals, not having money to buy a game, these life issues could not go on.
Being laid-back is one thing; being negligent is another, and the two shouldn’t be confused.
If you don’t trouble others, others will find you.
Even though he had mastered many spells, he still could not be too relaxed, at least not at this stage.
