Taming The Hidden Bigshot By Kissing Him-Chapter 657: She is a Thief
Chapter 657: Chapter 657: She is a Thief
"Young Master is back."
"Young Master."
The maids promptly stood to the side obediently, not daring to chatter anymore.
Zhong Yi walked to the doorway, observing the two women wrestling each other in a chaotic display inside. His expression was calm, without the anger one might expect.
Wan Jiang, who followed behind him, rubbed his nose, thinking to himself that Young Master Zhong’s backyard was certainly ablaze.
Women, always troublesome.
"Wan Jiang, separate them," Zhong Yi finally said after standing at the doorway watching the drama for a moment.
Seeing Lu Yingxue lose her composure and brawl with someone else was a rare sight indeed.
If he were to record this and post it on his social media, the wealthy circles of the Imperial Capital would never believe that one of their elegant and virtuous "Twin Beauties" could act like this.
Upon hearing his command, Wan Jiang hurried forward to separate Ye Ying and Lu Yingxue.
Ye Ying’s face and neck bore scratch marks, a distinct slap print on her cheek, and her hair was in disarray.
Her clothes had long been torn. Seeing Zhong Yi standing by the door, she quickly grabbed a coat to cover the scars exposed on her body.
She felt painfully inferior.
As for Lu Yingxue, her condition was much better.
Having learned some self-defense techniques, dealing with Ye Ying was effortless for her.
She appeared only slightly disheveled, with few red marks on her hands.
Upon seeing Zhong Yi, she took a deep breath but said nothing, feeling somewhat resentful that he had brought Ye Ying home in the first place.
"Young Master."
Wan Jiang called gently.
Zhong Yi stepped inside, looked at them, and asked, "What’s going on?"
His tone was indifferent, offering no clue as to whether he was angry or whom he supported.
"My jewelry is missing. I wanted to search the rooms," Lu Yingxue said softly after calming herself down.
Her expression appeared remarkably composed as she addressed Zhong Yi, "She’s the only outsider in this house. The servants here are ones I’ve trusted for a long time—they wouldn’t do something like this. That leaves her as the most likely suspect. I was only trying to search, but she resisted, and that’s how the conflict started."
Ye Ying froze upon hearing this.
"I didn’t! I didn’t steal anything," she said to Lu Yingxue, "You clearly just wanted to beat me and used this as a flimsy excuse to accuse me!"
"Whether I’m falsely accusing you can be verified with the servants," Lu Yingxue said shrewdly, ensuring she left no traces when she acted.
She had initially planned to deal with this woman later, but circumstances today presented an opportunity.
Zhong Yi looked toward the maids.
The maids softly affirmed, "Miss indeed lost a diamond necklace, the one she intended to use for her engagement. She mentioned it a few days ago but hadn’t searched for it until now."
"Yes, Miss did lose something."
"We know about it. Miss has always been gracious and kind, rarely getting into conflicts with others."
The maids unanimously sided with Lu Yingxue. With Ye Ying’s reputation as a despised "homewrecker," no one was inclined to help her.
Ye Ying stood frozen, her entire body cold and rigid as disbelief overwhelmed her.
These people were twisting the truth.
Everyone trusted Lu Yingxue’s story.
"I didn’t steal anything. You can..." Ye Ying’s voice faltered.
She suddenly recalled when her stepmother had falsely accused her by hiding expensive items in her room, then orchestrating a search to "catch her red-handed."
Given how confident Lu Yingxue sounded...
Could it be...
Ye Ying slowly turned to look at her, filled with mounting fear.
"Zhong Yi, I don’t oppose Miss Ye staying in our home. You said she’s a victim, and I accept that. But I can’t allow a thief to live here—don’t you agree?" Lu Yingxue said slowly.
She was clearly throwing dirt on Ye Ying’s name.
She also wanted to see what Zhong Yi’s reaction would be.
Zhong Yi glanced at Lu Yingxue, knowing full well the depth of her intrigue.
"Then let’s search," he said coolly. "Let’s see where the necklace is. After all, it’s a valuable item."
"Young Master Zhong, I..." Ye Ying’s eyes reddened.
Did he also think she was a thief?
Would this ruin the arrangement between them?
"Wan Jiang, search," Zhong Yi commanded, ignoring her utterly, his demeanor icy.
"Yes, Young Master," Wan Jiang replied, gathering a few others to search Ye Ying’s room.
Lu Yingxue wore a cold smirk as she watched Wan Jiang conduct the search.
Casually, she remarked, "What do we do if something is found? Zhong Yi, you wouldn’t keep a thief in this house, would you? If a woman of poor character like her becomes the mother of your child, it would be absolutely laughable!"
Zhong Yi’s expression remained unchanged.
"If she has a child, they will certainly recognize you as their mother. So you needn’t worry about that," he replied.
Lu Yingxue scoffed coldly, watching Wan Jiang busy himself searching the room.
Before long.
A necklace was indeed found inside the wardrobe.
"The necklace was hidden pretty well, tucked inside a pocket of clothing. You’d never find it without a thorough search," Wan Jiang said, presenting the visibly expensive diamond necklace to Zhong Yi and Lu Yingxue.
"Miss Lu, is this your necklace?"
"Yes, this is the one I lost," Lu Yingxue confirmed, taking the necklace and turning her gaze to the pale-faced Ye Ying. "Now what else can you say? I’ve heard plenty about the chaos in your family and how poorly you were raised. And look, you really are an embarrassment! No wonder you’d stoop to becoming someone’s mistress!"
Ye Ying stared at the diamond necklace, her heart shivering with cold. "I didn’t take this necklace—I have no idea how it ended up in my room. Young Master Zhong, she was the one who hit me first and tore my clothes. You have to believe me."
"Believe you?" Lu Yingxue sneered. "Does your belief alone prove anything? How do you expect others to believe you?"
"I didn’t steal anything," Ye Ying insisted, but her words found no ground.
Zhong Yi stood motionless: "The room doesn’t have surveillance, and human hearts can be dangerous. Even finding something in her room doesn’t necessarily mean she stole it."
He turned his face slightly toward Lu Yingxue and said, "I gave her a supplementary card. If she wanted anything, she could’ve bought it directly. Why would she stoop to something so foolish?"
A supplementary card?
He would go that far?
Lu Yingxue furrowed her brows as she looked at him incredulously. "Are you deliberately favoring her?"
"No," Zhong Yi replied. "It just reminds me of an incident—a Furong Beauty Salon opening some time ago. Mrs. Pei used similar tricks to frame the beauticians. As for who directed Mrs. Pei, I haven’t commented. But it doesn’t mean I’m unaware."
"You..."
"Keep yourself in check, Lu Yingxue—we can continue to coexist peacefully. Don’t take me for a fool, alright?"
Zhong Yi was tired of such theatrics.
He had no desire to waste more time.
Lu Yingxue gazed at this seemingly gracious gentleman and felt as though she were standing amid the bitter chill of midwinter.
Zhong Yi spared her no consideration whatsoever!
Choking on her words, Lu Yingxue asked, "So you’re saying you think I’m framing her?"
"Must I spell it out? If you know the truth in your heart, that’s enough. If you’d rather not see her living under your nose, I’ll simply buy her a new villa," Zhong Yi responded smoothly, his refined features cold as he added, "And I’ll move there too."
Fat chance!
Lu Yingxue loathed Ye Ying and Zhong Yi with every fiber of her being!
She stood rooted, too furious to speak, and Wan Jiang coughed lightly before stepping closer to Zhong Yi to whisper something.
Zhong Yi’s face stiffened.
