Sea Horse City came into sight in front of them. Tang Yin, in training gear, ran towards the helm when the crier announced.

"Land!"

It was still distant, but after over a week of blue nothingness stretching to the horizon, she was thrilled to finally see land again.

The land slowly came closer, inch by inch, meter by meter. Giddy, she waited, and by midday, they arrived at the harbor. A few other ships were there, some with broken masts barely afloat.

They slowly arrived and were led by a small dingy to their place. They anchored, and the man in front of them, clad in yellow and white robes, whistled in acknowledgment. "Wow. You must have had the sea god by your side to arrive this undamaged, " he said as they made their way down.

"We did; luck was on our side." The Captain laughed as they arrived and anchored. Tang Yin stepped onto the ground, followed by Yu Hua.

The two looked around as Uncle Jian laid his hands on their shoulders. "For now, try to stay with me. Sea Horse City is friendly towards outsiders and smaller than Vast Sea City, land spirit Masters, are not always well received."

Tang Yin nodded and followed Uncle Jian when he approached a man clad in purple. Approaching him, he bowed. "Master Yuan, " he said, and the man bowed back with a smile. "Master Jian. It is a welcome surprise."

"It is indeed. Let me introduce this girl I mentioned in the letter. The other one, well, he is a friend and entirely unexpected but very welcome company. He, too, wishes to take the sea god exams."

"I see." The man mustered the two of them with a keen gaze. "You did say young, but this is younger than I expected. Most Land spirit masters do not even know of the sea god island and the great sea god. May I inquire about your age?"

Tang Yin smiled. "We had an unusual teacher. He told us about the sea god Poseidon. I am Tang Yin, twelve years old. This is my friend Yu Hua, he is fifteen. It is our honor to meet you."

"The honor is mine." He bowed as well and then looked at Uncle Jian. "I will take good care of them. Do not worry."

"I rely on you." He bowed and then patted their heads.

The two of them nodded as Master Yuan walked forward, leading them through the city and showing them various places for food, shelter, clothes, and other practical things. Then he led them to a small house that seemed slightly in the wrong place.

"This will be where you will be staying during your time here, " he said and turned to them. I was originally only expecting one person, but there is a guest room, so it should be able to work for both of you. This zone is secure and has a lot of entertainment possibilities. There is a training facility close by, and if you need anything, " Tang Yin's jaw slacked. She had expected to spend the first month inside a hotel, turning to Uncle Jian. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

He looked at her with a mildly amused expression. "I was not about to let my student stay at a hotel. Consider it a gift."

"...a house?" Tang Yin muttered puzzled. and Uncle Jian grinned.

"No, but I borrow a privately owned residence which I gift to you two for your stay here."

"Miss Tang, would you like to look around? " Master Yuan said and handed her the keys. Tang Yin took them and then opened the door to step into a bright room. The house had looked a bit out of place from the outside, but she understood why once inside.

There was a window front with a hallway to walk through. In the middle was a peaceful, quiet pond surrounded by greenery, and Tang Yin felt her eyes widen. "Blue river grass, " she said.

"Well, I knew you would be happy about that, " he said when Yu Hua let out a gasp. "The Kitchen, " he said gasping, and Tang Yin ran to him and then saw what he meant.

"I don't even know how to cook that well." She muttered when Yu Hua patted her shoulder. "I know how to cook, don't worry."

The two looked at each other, and then they continued exploring. Tang Yin stood inside the garden, watching the koi fish swimming, when Yu Hua said loudly, "I think I found your room."

Tang Yin turned and walked towards him. "How come?" she asked, and he pointed at the white walls at the bottom decorated with river grass and moonflowers. "There is a bathroom through there," Yu Hua said, and Tang Yin nodded as she kneeled down and then jumped up.

Ignoring Yu Hua, she ran towards Uncle Jian and then jumped to hug him tightly. He stiffed beneath her arms.

"Yin?" He said, and she grinned upwards.

"Thank you, Teacher. Thank you Thank you so much. This is utterly amazing."

Uncle Jian was still stiff when he smiled. "There is no need to thank me. I am permitted to favour my one and only official student, no?"

"Doesn't matter. This wasn't necessary; you have gone above and beyond, " she said, earning a chuckle.

"Go continue to explore. I will speak with Master Yuan since I cannot stay too long and still have matters to settle."

She nodded and continued exploring with Yu Hua while they inspected every nook and cranny. Yu Hua let out a happy whimper when he saw the well-lit upper-floor room with a workshop. Paints and drawing materials lined up, well lit, and with enough space for him to work inside as well.

"I can put a mannequin over there and drape some of my new clothes, and there's a swing station over there for bigger patterns, " he said, almost breathless.

"Children!" Uncle Jian shouted, and the two looked at each other, dashing down.

"Yes?" Tang Yin asked and looked at him. Do you want to get your test today or wait until tomorrow?" He asked, and the two of them looked at each other. "Today, " they both said.

Master Yuan mustered them. "Then we would leave and lead you to the pillar for the test."

They stepped outside, and Tang Yin closed the door. Yu Hua took out a small piece of wood and attached it to the door. Yin was surprised she hadn't seen that before.

"A Gale original?" She asked, and he nodded.

"Yes, an extra lock, attuned to one's spirit energy or voice, depending on what is more convenient." He explained.

"Oh, interesting." She said, and they headed after Master Yuan, who went ahead with Uncle Jian close behind them. Yu Hua's long legs ate the ground as he ran. Tang Yin, used to high speed and nimble, followed. They sped up more and more.
