Chapter 100 - 99: New Skill: Great Sage
Ichika patted her chest with confidence. "Leave this to me."
"Shiro-kun," she added, "do you have any requests about the tutoring fee? I can pass it on to my dad."
Shiro Sakamaki waved his hand casually. "Just go with the market rate—or even lower. I'm not doing this for the money."
As he spoke, his eyes drifted to Nino. "Let's just say it's thanks for the breakfast and lunch Nino's been preparing for me."
"Hmph. At least you've got some conscience," Nino muttered, clearly pleased but maintaining her usual prideful expression.
Shiro just chuckled to himself. Her tsundere act was easy to read at this point.
Ichika stepped out onto the balcony, phone in hand, and made the call. Shiro watched her through the glass door. Judging by her expression, things weren't going smoothly.
Understandable.
After all, her father had suddenly been asked to dismiss a professional tutor in favor of a male classmate—who, conveniently, lived next door and had the full support of all five sisters. Anyone would be suspicious.
Back in his office, Nakano Maruo frowned as he listened to Ichika's explanation. Something about this felt off.
The girls had never interacted with boys much, and now suddenly... this?
A troubling thought struck him:
Are my daughters falling in love?
His mind ran wild, overthinking every detail. The more he thought about it, the more convinced he became that something was fishy.
He and Ichika nearly argued over the matter. Still, Maruo wasn't an unreasonable man.
Even though the girls weren't his biological children, born from Reina's previous marriage, he had raised them as his own. Cold as he may appear on the outside, he deeply cared for all five sisters.
In the end, he compromised—but on one condition.
"Your classmate will compete with the tutor I selected. If he's better, I'll accept it. If not, we go with my arrangement."
Ichika agreed without hesitation.
After all, she'd seen Shiro's name at the very top of Shuchiin Academy's rankings—just above even Shinomiya Kaguya. That was no small feat.
"Understood. We'll do it your way, Dad."
Maruo's voice was calm. "Good. I'll handle the schedule. Let your classmate know."
Ichika hung up and returned inside.
"Well?" the other sisters immediately gathered around.
They'd seen her face through the window and were anxiously waiting.
"Dad agreed... sort of. He wants Shiro-kun to compete with the tutor he chose. If Shiro-kun wins, he'll let us keep him as our tutor. If not..."
she trailed off, looking apologetically at Shiro,
"...we'll have to follow Dad's decision. I already said yes. You don't mind, do you?"
Shiro shrugged and smiled. "You already agreed, didn't you? I'll handle it."
Relief washed over Ichika's face. The others broke into cheers.
Even the normally reserved Miku quietly pumped her fist. "Shiro-kun, good luck!"
"If it's an exam," Shiro said confidently, "I won't lose to anyone."
He wasn't bluffing. His brain was running at god-tier speed, practically rivaling a supercomputer. No high school-level exam could challenge him.
Suddenly, he remembered—It's already been a month. My sign-in cooldown is up.
But for now, he stayed focused. He was still at the Nakano house, after all.
"You're so reliable, Shiro-kun," Itsuki said, nibbling on snacks.
Shiro raised an eyebrow. "You've been eating nonstop since I got here, Itsuki. Aren't you worried about putting on weight?"
"Eek—! Don't stare at me like that!"
"I-It's only because I'm nervous today," she said, cheeks puffing out like a squirrel.
Nino, twirling her hair, spoke up. "So, what do you all want for dinner?"
Shiro chimed in immediately. "Can I vote for Australian lobster and black gold abalone?"
"I wasn't asking you!"
"Aw, Nino, you wound me. I'm the one doing you all a favor!"
But Nino had already seen through his playful act and completely ignored him.
Shiro laughed it off. He didn't really expect luxury. While Australian lobster might be manageable, black gold abalone was a different story.
After all, those only thrived in the cold waters south of 40 degrees latitude, near Antarctica.
They took nearly a decade to grow to harvest size, making them rare and incredibly valuable. Even their shells were beautiful—suitable as ornaments once polished.
So yeah... a bit much for a home-cooked meal.

After dinner, Shiro said his goodbyes and returned to his apartment. Once inside, he locked the door, took a deep breath, and muttered under his breath:
This time, what he received wasn't a prop—it was a skill.
