The All-Master of Cyberpunk-Chapter 22
Cyberpunk All Masters - Episode 22
22. You Let Your Guard Down, You Pay the Price
A few seconds of reconnaissance. Almost simultaneously, the two moved.
Do-jin acted first. The shotgun's recoil struck his shoulder as he pulled the trigger.
Bang!!!
However, Go Jin-seong moved even faster.
On the surface, his right arm was the only visible tech body modification, but his internal organs were also cybernetic, making him a "hard technician." Naturally, his enhanced reaction speed and vision surpassed that of an ordinary person, comparable to a rigorously trained soldier.
'Good thing I had my body maintained beforehand.'
Go Jin-seong recalled the mechanic he had brutally murdered the night before. Perhaps he should have spared him if he knew how well his modifications would hold up.
However, there was no point in regretting the death of someone he had already killed. It was the mechanic's fault for resisting payment.
At least his daughter was unharmed. She should be grateful for that.
[Detecting above-average levels of adrenaline. Entering automatic combat mode.]
Go Jin-seong's tech-enhanced body parts began to accelerate his blood flow. His eyes swiftly scanned Do-jin.
His opponent was a physical-type ability user. Sent by Seo Yi-kyung, he was not just any random thug but a formidable adversary.
The most noticeable weapon was the steel gauntlet on Do-jin's left hand. Whether it was a full tech body replacement or just an exoskeleton was unclear, but it was risky to take a direct hit.
The other weapon was a pump-action shotgun by R. Judging by the focused impact, it used slug shots rather than buckshot. The magazine held seven rounds.
A rather classic shotgun.
It looked tempting to loot.
And his armor… just a regular flight jacket without even a ballistic plate.
To put it nicely, it prioritized mobility to the extreme; to put it bluntly, it was just foolish.
'Facing me without even wearing body armor?'
Go Jin-seong chuckled, pulling the trigger of his revolver.
Bang!! Crack!!
It was a precise headshot, but Do-jin narrowly rolled away.
The hospital, with its numerous unnecessary obstacles – pillars, reception desks, long benches, and even vending machines – offered plenty of cover.
"Stop running around like a scared little girl!!"
Bang!! Bang! Go Jin-seong fired his revolver wildly. The .357 Magnum, powerful enough to shred a bear, used specially modified rounds that could penetrate metal plates. The reception desk Do-jin hid behind was quickly turned into Swiss cheese.
Although none of the shots hit their mark.
"I knew I didn't like guns."
Go Jin-seong clicked his tongue and tossed the empty revolver aside. He had grown up in Chungsa-pa, a gang ruling the back alleys of Daegu even before the world turned upside down.
To him, guns were less familiar than fists. Even after replacing his body with tech parts and gaining an incredible power like pyrokinesis, he couldn't settle for shooting from a distance.
"Hey, come out. Let me see your face."
“...”
“Are you starting to get scared? Tougher than you thought?”
Do-jin didn’t answer.
Go Jin-seong had discarded his gun. It was the second phase. Go Jin-seong with a revolver was like regular coffee, but Go Jin-seong without it was like TOP.
He was specialized in close combat. Giving him any space would mean getting overwhelmed. Even with Shockwave and the Impact Gauntlet, Do-jin couldn’t guarantee a win against a fully prepared Go Jin-seong.
But there was a way.
Everything was going according to plan.
Do-jin, a seasoned player of Seoul 2056, knew more about the Fire Snake than Jin-seong did.
He knew how easily Jin-seong could get agitated and let his guard down.
Raising his hands, Do-jin stood up from behind the reception desk and spoke with a sly tone.
“What are you doing?”
“You can fight.”
“Haha! You look pretty young. How old are you?”
“Thanks for the compliment. I’ve seen a lot.”
“I’m obviously older… why aren’t you speaking respectfully?”
“Guys who grow up in the back alleys don’t get the respect.”
Go Jin-seong ground his teeth. His eyes reddened with anger at the provocation.
"Just wait till I get you. You're dead."
“Sure.”
Bang!!
Do-jin nonchalantly fired the shotgun from atop the reception desk.
Despite the sudden attack, Jin-seong dodged it easily.
The shotgun held slug rounds. Instead of many small pellets, a single large lead slug was loaded. Powerful enough to silence wild boars and bears in one shot, but also slow.
Humans couldn’t dodge bullets, but this was a cyberpunk world where people replaced their eyes with optics and jaws with steel.
Jin-seong, covered in basic tech modifications, smirked.
“Only two shots left.”
Bang!!
Do-jin’s shotgun fired again. Jin-seong tilted his head, dodging it effortlessly.
"Impressive, right? Even the best cops get their heads blown off, but you brought a shotgun?"
“For this.”
Bang!!!
The last round. Jin-seong felt his victory was assured. Time to smash that smug face.
Just like before, he dodged it.
'Huh?'
One, two, three, five, nine?
He realized too late that something was wrong. The shot wasn’t a single slug but numerous sharp pellets scattered all over him.
The danger chip in his brain sounded the alarm, but it was too late.
Papapapapap!!
The pain of his body tearing apart shot up his spine.
“Got you.”
Do-jin lunged, eyes glinting, and smashed Jin-seong’s face with the Impact Gauntlet.
Whack!!
“Argh?!”
Jin-seong tried to retreat, but Do-jin didn’t give him a chance.
Wham! Crash!!
Each punch carried lethal intent. Jin-seong’s body shook violently with each hit. Do-jin felt the tech parts inside him failing to withstand the impact.
"You son of a- Ack!"
Trying to speak, Jin-seong got his teeth knocked out. His gold teeth scattered on the floor.
Even as a gang leader, Jin-seong’s neck bounty wasn't a child’s play. He swung his right arm.
Boom! Clang!!
The sound was deafening. If Do-jin hadn’t blocked with the gauntlet, his bones would have broken. Jin-seong’s counterattack was fierce.
A formidable foe. Perhaps more than the Gargoyle.
Jin-seong kicked. Do-jin barely dodged, but the distance widened.
“You bastard-!!”
The enraged Jin-seong roared. His appearance was utterly unreal. It wasn’t just surreal; it was terrifying.
Riddled with buckshot and pummeled by the Impact Gauntlet and Shockwave, his body should have been immobile from the injuries, yet he moved.
The disconnect stemmed from thinking of Jin-seong as 'human.'
"If not human, he’s like a high-level humanoid mutant."
If he were a mutant, such resilience was expected.
Fwoosh! Roar!!
Flames engulfed Jin-seong, surrounding his body. The last phase. The true power of the Fire Snake was unleashed.
“I’ll burn this place down! I’ll turn those pesky cops to ashes and tear Seo Yi-kyung apart!!!”
The heat was no joke. It could cause burns. This was real pyrokinesis.
But.
“Ha-an! Now!”
“This is a piece of cake!!”

The black-haired agent rescued the medical director and gave a thumbs-up.
Swoosh!!!
The indoor sprinkler system activated, a storm of water. The facility had an extensive water tank, not just the city’s water supply.
It was enough to douse Jin-seong’s flames.
“What, what...!?”
“You need preparation to catch a viper.”
Bzzt!!
Using the gauntlet’s bio-magnetism, Do-jin pulled Jin-seong from the flames.
“It’s over.”
Whack!!
The final blow struck his exposed solar plexus. Jin-seong’s face twisted in pain as his body caved in.
“Ugh...”
With a final gasp, the Fire Snake Go Jin-seong fell silent.
