The Aloof Lord's Mysterious Wife-Chapter 469: The Chu Family United in Rescue Efforts
Chapter 469: The Chu Family United in Rescue Efforts
The matter of Chu Hanming and Lady Tian sparked a heated discussion among the spies. They ultimately decided that if Chu Hanming and Lady Tian were at the Marquis’s residence, they would be considered part of the Chu family; if they were at their own residence, they would not.
After issuing the orders, Qi Hong sighed, thinking he would have to find an opportunity to subtly inform A’Yuan about his genuine care for the Chu family. He hoped that if A’Yuan knew he was truly caring and reformed, he might view him more favorably and address him as "brother."
But then, a shout came from the front: "Assassins! Protect Young Master Wu!"
Qi Hong’s eyes narrowed. He kicked open the small door of the carriage and leaped out. The luxurious carriage was under attack by assassins, and the guards were fighting bravely.
Chu Yan also exited the carriage, drawing his sword to fend off the attackers. Upon discovering that the Emperor was not inside the luxurious carriage, one of the assassins spat in anger and cursed, "So Qi Hong, you’re truly scheming! You hide in a shabby carriage and make others block the sword!"
Qi Hong’s face turned pale. After dispatching the assassins, he hurried to explain to Chu Yan, but Chu Yan, his arm wounded and stained with blood, coldly accepted the treatment from the guards without looking at Qi Hong.
"Emperor Qi, could you please inform me in advance next time if you intend to use me as a shield? It would be better to prepare myself instead of being caught off guard," Chu Yan said coldly.
His life had been painstakingly saved by his sixth sister, and he needed to cherish it.
"A’Yuan, it’s not like that," Qi Hong pleaded, nearly in tears.
Chu Yan interrupted him, "Don’t say any more. I don’t want to see you. Even hearing your voice annoys me."
Those words were like a blow to Qi Hong. Cursed be these assassins! How could he possibly explain things now? His relationship with A’Yuan was only further strained.
Furious, Qi Hong absorbed the energy from the assassins but still felt unsatisfied. After Chu Yan was bandaged, he moved to the back carriage without a word.
Qi Hong, frustrated and with no way to change the situation, tried to follow but was stopped by his guards. "Your Majesty, accept the reality of the situation."
They warned him not to provoke Young Master Wu further; their own positions would be difficult.
Qi Hong, gritting his teeth, glared at them. "It’s your fault for not screening the route thoroughly and letting assassins attack!"
The guards were equally frustrated. It wasn’t their fault; it was Qi Hong’s numerous enemies. They couldn’t kill them all, no matter how many there were!
Yet, the Emperor was always right, so the guards could only kneel and plead for punishment. Qi Hong considered killing them, viewing their lives as insignificant compared to the energy they provided for his dark arts.
Chu Yan, annoyed, called out from the back carriage, "How long will we drag this out? Are we leaving or not?"
"Immediately, immediately!" Qi Hong’s mood shifted dramatically. He believed that A’Yuan still had some brotherly feelings for him and wouldn’t completely ignore him.
Feeling satisfied, Qi Hong was no longer angry with his guards and cheerfully boarded the front carriage.
The guards breathed a sigh of relief and gave grateful looks to Chu Yan. If not for the Heart-Uniting Enchanting Bug influencing them, they would never believe these two were actual brothers.
They hoped Young Master Wu could help temper the Emperor’s bloodthirstiness in the future.

In Mu Nation, the capital.
Ye Siheng received two letters from Nanli in one day and felt increasingly despondent. He had hoped she would return quickly, but unexpected events had occurred along the way.
Border Nation, now ruled by Xuanyuan Fu, had previously made provocative moves. After being defeated, they ceded land and made apologies, showing no further aggression. Xuanyuan Fu’s calm demeanor indicated he was a formidable opponent. Ye Siheng worried for A’Li’s safety and wished he could go with her, but his elder brother was gravely ill, and his nephew had just been deposed. Leaving now would risk turmoil in the court.
Therefore, Ye Siheng chose to remain and wait for Nanli’s return. He visited the Mansion of Marquis Anyang to offer reassurance to the Chu family.
With Chu Yan kidnapped and Chu Hanlin on leave from the military, the family’s anxiety grew. Ye Siheng decided it was better to explain the situation now rather than leave Chu Yan to face the consequences later.
The hall had been cleared of servants, and Ye Siheng had the Black Armor Guard stationed outside.
Seeing the arrangements, Chu Hanlin’s heart sank. "The Ninth Prince, could it be that Young Master Wu..."
Ye Siheng shook his head. "He is safe for now, but his real brother took him to Qi Nation. He has encountered some problems and won’t be returning soon."
Grand Lady and Chu Hanlin’s couple were relieved, but Chu Ye and his brothers were in shock.
"What... what real brother?" Chu Ye stuttered.
Ye Siheng raised an eyebrow. "Not the one you thought. He’s the one your father brought from the border to raise. His real brother is Qi Nation’s new Emperor, Qi Hong."
The brothers were even more shocked and speechless.
"Mother!" Chu Hanlin, astonished but concerned for Grand Lady, rushed to support her.
Madam Shen, upon hearing the news, also felt faint. Fortunately, Chu Ye reacted quickly and helped her.
The two women wept uncontrollably.
Ye Siheng, standing silently, felt a mix of emotions. Coming from a military family with a long history of protecting the country, the revelation that Chu Yan was the brother of Qi Nation’s new Emperor was hard to accept.
He was already considering how to gently inform Chu Yan of the situation.
However, Grand Lady suddenly stood up with determination. "Bring my armor and Changhong Sword! I will personally go to Qi Nation to bring Young Master Wu back!"
Madam Shen wiped her tears. "Mother, you are too old to be making such a journey. Let the Marquis and the eldest son handle it..."
Ye Siheng tilted his head in confusion. Why such a reaction earlier?
Chu Hanlin added, "Young Master Wu is pure-hearted. Emperor Qi is ruthless. If Young Master Wu stays there, he will surely be tortured!"
Madam Shen, growing anxious again, said, "Indeed! Emperor Qi has even killed his own father. Young Master Wu is in great danger!"
Grand Lady, tearfully determined, said, "Yes! Even if it costs me my life, I will bring Young Master Wu back and ensure Emperor Qi doesn’t harm him!"
Ye Siheng understood now; their extreme reaction was due to their overwhelming concern for Chu Yan.
The brothers were united in their resolve.
Chu Ye, with a determined expression, said, "Grandmother, leave the rescue to us!"
Chu Shuo clenched his fists. "Father, eldest brother, whatever you need, just say the word. I’ll get it for you, no matter the cost!"
Even Chu Huan was resolute. "If we’re going to Qi Nation, we need travel permits. Ninth Prince, can you make some arrangements?"
Chu Yang added, "Second Brother and Third Brother aren’t skilled in martial arts and can’t join us. We three might be a bit short. I’ll borrow some people from Master Zhao."
Thirty internal martial arts experts should be enough!
