The Art of Chaotic Divinity-Chapter 783: Demon Cultists of the Blood God Cult
Chapter 783: Demon Cultists of the Blood God Cult
Growls echoed through the streets of Yanbao City—bestial, inhuman snarls that sent chills down the spine. The Blood Spirit Corpses, their eyes glowing crimson and claws sharp as blades, mindlessly pursued any living target they locked onto, attacking without rest.
Ling Feng and his group had no intention of engaging these creatures unnecessarily. If they could concoct an antidote, these victims might still be saved. There was no need for further bloodshed.
They sprinted toward the city center. According to the Despicable Donkey, the Blood God Cult always occupied the city lord's mansion in every town they invaded, converting it into their branch temple. Yanbao City would be no exception.
Built primarily from compacted earth, the structures of this Western Wilderness city formed a simple layout. With Ling Feng and Tuoba Yan clearing the path ahead and Jiang Xiaofan guarding the rear, they carved their way toward the city lord's mansion unimpeded.
Yet the deeper they ventured, the more formidable the Blood Spirit Corpses became—far more aggressive and persistent than those on the outskirts.
"The city lord's mansion is just ahead," Ling Feng said in a low voice. "Yan'er and I will breach the inner compound. Xiaofan, you and Nanfeng hold the perimeter—keep the Blood Spirit Corpses at bay."
"Understood!"
The group nodded. Before them stood an imposing earthen fortress, towering over its surroundings. Four exceptionally powerful Blood Spirit Corpses guarded its entrance, their auras far stronger than the mindless wanderers outside. Strangely, they remained stationary, as if obeying orders.
"There must still be Blood God Cult enforcers inside," Ling Feng muttered. "Good. Living enemies are easier to deal with than the dead."
"Stick to the plan—quick and clean!"
With a flick of his Eradicator of Realms, Ling Feng lunged forward.
The four guarding Blood Spirit Corpses possessed terrifying brute strength and bodies hard as tempered steel—challenges even for ordinary Transformation Realm martial artists. No wonder Jin Weide and Sun Gongming had been so adamant about keeping outsiders away.
But against Ling Feng's team? They might as well have been straw dummies.
"Six Paths of Rise and Fall!"
A flash of cold light. The leftmost corpse's head tumbled free before Ling Feng's sword intent shredded it to pieces. The headless body collapsed, twitching briefly before falling still.
Not to be outdone, Tuoba Yan and Jiang Xiaofan each dispatched one, while Gong Cheng and Ye Nanfeng teamed up to eliminate the last.
In moments, the first line of defense had been obliterated.
"Xiaofan, hold this position. Shout if anything changes!"
After reiterating orders, Ling Feng and Tuoba Yan charged into the earthen fortress. If they could lure out the Blood Sword Heavenly Lord, all the better. If not, they'd extract the truth about the poison flower used to refine Blood Soul Pearls from the Blood God Cult enforcers.

...
Deep within the earthen fortress.
"Damn those Northwestern Army dogs! They've had the city surrounded for over half a month, and the Master still hasn't returned!"
A brawny cult enforcer in gray robes gorged himself at a table, shoveling meat into his mouth with greasy fingers.
"Patience, Enforcer Gao," said a black-robed demon cultist of the Blood God Cult, his tone calm and composed. He clearly outranked the five or six enforcers present. "Yanbao City is crawling with Blood Spirit Corpses. No matter how capable the Northwestern Army is, they won't break through our stronghold. Remember those fools who tried to storm the place last time? Now their corpses feed the corpses."
This was the Blood God Cult's High Priest—the first disciple the cult leader had ever recruited, and his most trusted lieutenant.
"But High Priest," Enforcer Gao sighed, "if this stalemate continues, the Northwestern Army will just burn Yanbao City to the ground. We'll be trapped like turtles in a jar!"
"Indeed, High Priest," said an older Taoist priest with a wispy goatee. "As the Master's most trusted follower, surely he left you with some instructions before he departed? Would you be willing to share them with us?"
"Rest easy, all of you." The High Priest's voice boomed with conviction. "Our Master has merely secluded himself to cultivate a supreme divine skill. Upon his return, we need only rally the Blood Spirit Corpses and counterattack. A mere few thousand Northwestern Army troops won't stand a chance!"
"So the Master is mastering a supreme technique!" The elderly priest chuckled. "That puts my mind at ease."
"Haha! Mine too!" Enforcer Gao slammed his tankard down. "Damn corpses howling day and night—gives me a splitting headache! Should've kept a few pretty ones when we harvested those peasants' soul essence. At least then we'd have some entertainment!"
The High Priest smirked. "Fool. When we help the Master conquer the Tianbai Empire, you'll have your pick of women—noble ladies, princesses, even imperial concubines!"
These so-called enforcers and priests were all wanted criminals—petty evil cultivators who'd once been small-time nuisances. None had dreamed the Blood Sword Heavenly Lord would forge them into something formidable.
"Stay loyal, and the Master will give you everything!"
The High Priest's grin suddenly faltered. An unusual roar echoed from outside—different from the mindless shrieks of the undead.
"Damn corpses never shut up!" Enforcer Gao grumbled before noticing the High Priest's expression. "What?"
"Intruders." The High Priest stood abruptly. "They've breached the outer defenses."
Enforcer Gao kicked over his table. "About time we got some live ones! Let me handle them!"
"Go with him, Enforcer Qiu." The High Priest eyed the elderly priest. "Anyone who slipped past our sentries unnoticed isn't to be underestimated."
"At once."
Enforcer Qiu's lips curled into a sinister smile as he turned to his brawny companion. "Let's go play with our guests, Enforcer Gao!"
"I hope there's a beauty among them. Heh heh heh!"
Licking his lips, Enforcer Gao's eyes gleamed with perverse hunger as his laughter twisted into something grotesque.
