The Devil's Good Girl-Chapter 219: Michael’s night life
Chapter 219: Michael’s night life
The nightclub pulsed with lively, loud music and different moving and flashing lights. Everyone let loose, dancing to their heart’s content until their skin shone with sweat. Everyone held their drinks, which they sipped from time to time or chugged in one go.
Fil used to wonder what it was like to party and let loose. And the first time she had the courage, she ended up in her fiance’s bed with a stranger. She couldn’t say it was a bad memory, but it was not good either.
"Hey there. You’re alone?"
Fil glanced at the man who immediately came to her side upon approaching the bar counter.
"No, thanks. I’m with someone." Fil tapped the bar counter to get the bartender’s attention. "Excuse me, do you know where Michael is?"
"Michael?" the bartender raised his brows while studying Fil.
Donning a sexy satin dress, the bartender smiled in satisfaction. She just looked like Michael’s type.
"He’s in the VIP 10," said the bartender. "Have fun, Miss."
Fil sported a short smile as she pushed herself away from the bar counter. In her mind, she kept repeating the VIP number 8. She didn’t hear the bartender properly, but she was so sure he said eight. Hence, Fil found her way heading to the said VIP room.
On her way, she met with some girls playfully playing chase with some men. She caught some people making out through the gaps of the door. Thinking of Michael, Fil wouldn’t be surprised if she would step in such a scene in Michael’s VIP room.
Shaking her head, she soon reached VIP room eight. When she stood in front of it, she took a deep breath and knocked. She didn’t know if her knock was enough for the people inside to hear. Thus, she knocked again.
"Are they having fun inside?" she murmured, flinching when the room next door suddenly opened from the inside. Looking at the person, she caught a man and a woman going out while holding hands. They cast her a nonchalant look, making Fil intuitively look away.
But for some reason, Fil glanced at the door before it fully closed. There was a group of young adults inside, drinking and partying wildly.
’Is that... is that Shanaiah?’ Fil furrowed her brows, staring at the beautiful woman dancing while wrapping her arms around a man’s neck before the door fully closed. ’Shanaiah is there... but I didn’t see Michael inside.’
Fil glanced at the VIP room, only to see the number 10. She then looked at the number next to the door she was standing in front of, and then at the door behind her that said number 9.
"Mike?" she called once more, knocking on the door. "Is he actually in 10?"
Since the rooms were soundproof, Fil had no idea if Michael booked two VIP rooms at the same time. After all, if the party elite Shanaiah was in the other room, Michael could be in this room. Those two were the best buddies when it came to nightlife.
"Mike —" Just as Fil tried once more to call him, the door in front of her suddenly opened. Surprise washed over her face as she looked up at Michael. The latter looked just as surprised as her.
"Fil?" Michael frowned before he intuitively looked from her left to her right. "What the hell are you doing here?"
Fil raised her hands in surrender as she spoke in one breath. "I need your help."
"Tch."
"Please hear me out."
"Fil, are you crazy? Vincent let us off the hook last time because it’s a one-time thing! But seriously, if he sees us together again, he’ll definitely believe we’re fucking."
"But I really need your help! I swear this is the last time and then it’s done!" she stressed each syllable. "Mike, you know I won’t go in here if I think it’s not important, alright?"
Michael stared at her, grinding his teeth, obviously not pleased with something. But when he heard the music from next door sounding louder, he wordlessly grabbed her arm and pulled her inside.
"Ahh!"
He tossed her arm away as soon as he shut the door, resting his hands on his hips. "Ah, god. You are annoying now," he said while pinching the bridge of his nose.
Fil, on the other hand, massaged her arm with a frown. She knew this was annoying. It wasn’t like she didn’t know she was being one. However, just as she mentioned, it was important, and she wanted to end Marcus’s Chapter once and for all.
But just as Fil was about to speak, deep lines appeared on her brows. It was silent. Looking around, she realized no one was inside the VIP room, unlike the other rooms she passed by. If there was anything in here was that coffee mug on the table along with piles of papers and laptops.
"Fil, let me tell you this..." Michael trailed off as he peeked at her, only to see her staring at the table. "... shit."
"Michael." Slowly, Fil looked back at him with deep curiosity in her eyes. "Can I ask... what’s going on here?"
Michael ruffled his hair in irritation, now definitely miffed at her or himself. He should’ve dragged her away instead of dragging her inside.
"Fuck you and your nosy ass, Filomena," he grumbled, dragging his feet to the long couch. Picking up a document, he looked back at her and tossed the document in her direction. "Working."
Fil barely heard his answer as she tried to catch the paper, but failed. Hence, she had to pick it up from the floor. As soon as she did, she glanced at the documents and furrowed her brows.
"Did you just say... you’re working?" she muttered, recognizing the company name. It was an international investment company which she only grew familiar with while working as a consultant in the Solana.
When she straightened her back, Michael was already sitting on the long couch comfortably. For some reason, Fil wondered about the time because, around this time, this company on the paper was just starting its day.
"Don’t tell me..."
"Tsk." Michael clicked his tongue. "While you’re standing there like an idiot, someone will come, bringing my breakfast in about three minutes. Get it for me. Maybe I’ll feel less irritated at you."
