Chapter 244: Happily ever after

Her hair was a little disheveled, just like her weird pairing of clothes that gave away the hint this type of place wasn’t one she usually frequented. Her eyes behind those thick glasses looked smaller, but they were just as beautiful as how Jackson remembered them. She looked at him with silent curiosity and obvious admiration.

"Will I go to hell if I lose my virginity before marriage?" freēwēbηovel.c૦m

Jackson was taken aback.

What did she just say?

For a moment, he only gazed at her up and down to make sure he wasn’t dreaming. He especially missed her tonight, and he was hopeful of seeing her. Hence, Jackson wanted to make sure he wasn’t simply hallucinating.

When she blinked and then blinked, his stiff expression relaxed a little. A short laughter that no one heard for decades escaped his mouth.

"Will you go to hell if you lose your virginity before marriage?"

After years of waiting and leaving everything to fate, this was the first thing she would tell him? He thought there was nothing she could do that would surprise him, but she proved him wrong once again.

Jackson watched her make excuses awkwardly, as if she just realized how bold her words to a stranger were. In an attempt to escape the awkward situation, she quickly made up an excuse.

’Let her go,’ he told himself, letting her walk away from him. ’I was able to survive for decades without her and I can do it now. Let her go.’

Those words were on repeat for what felt like an eternity. But in the end, he found himself trailing behind her. When he was closer, he bent over until his lips were beside her ear.

"Want to test it?" he watched her slowly twist her neck, making him smile from ear to ear.

A short smile was something that had never appeared on his face for decades. But now, he was beaming.

His chants of letting her go were replaced with ’just one last night with her.’

He would just hold her for a night, love her one last time, and if she allowed, kiss her like she had never been before. One night was all he needed and he would be out of her life, just as she always wished.

That was why he acted like those unruly punks he usually see on a daily basis. He thought if he acted like someone who was only in for something thrilling for the night, she would eventually kick him out. She didn’t. She showed nervousness at first, but she was determined.

But even before they became one, Jackson realized he couldn’t just leave her. How could he, when she was so unsure of her worth? How could he leave the only reason he was alive when everyone was so horrible to her?

Thus, he found another reason to stick around.

Jackson told himself he’d help her and leave once she got back on her feet. He disliked the idea of revenge, he still did. Though he would casually remind her of its dangers. It wasn’t like he didn’t know what she was like, but he was hopeful she would see there was more in life than getting even.

And before he knew it, here they were.

[Present Time]

Fil kept her curious eyes on him while Jackson just smiled at her.

If there was something Jackson didn’t expect in this lifetime, that was changing her mind. Although he couldn’t take all the credit, for once, he could safely say his love participated in stopping her from ruining herself with her revenge plot.

His love reached her.

"Jack, are you saying you had a crush on me when you first met me?" Fil inquired suspiciously. "Why?"

He snapped back to the present time. "What do you mean, why?"

"Back then, I was... how do I say it? I don’t have a nice fashion sense. I wear these thick glasses, and not to mention I was a pushover!" she exclaimed. "You can’t just like me without a reason."

"You didn’t need clothes to be pretty."

"What?"

Jackson smiled cunningly as he winked.

Fil’s expression died as she said, "Let me guess. The next thing you’re going to say is that I don’t need to wear glasses in bed too?"

"Exactly."

"Are you a pervert?" she gasped, covering her chest protectively. "Jack, you said you’re trying to make sure I won’t back out!"

"Haha. But I was right. Your boobs fit right perfectly with my hands and your butt too."

"Jack!" Fil gasped once more while he laughed heartily. Her face turned red in embarrassment, thinking of the past. "Goodness! Why, even though it’s been a year, your words are still embarrassing?"

Looking back, Fil remembered how anxious she was when she started growing feelings for him. Things would have been a lot easier if she knew he already liked her.

The thought put a smile on her face. Fil reached out for his hand, squeezing it mildly.

"Anyway, I don’t think that matters now, right?" she hummed, watching him relax and smile. "I was silly, was I?"

"We were."

"I thought you were put off when I suggested for us to sleep together in my ex’s house."

"I was a little scared."

"I won’t do it to you. So, don’t worry."

He laughed. "I’ll never give you the chance. You’ll be too busy with me."

"Even if you want to give me the chance, I’ll not give you. I’ll watch you like a hawk," she humored, but she knew she could trust him. She loved him, and thus, she was giving him the trust he deserved.

Silence suddenly fell between them while staring into each other’s eyes after sharing a good laugh.

Jackson twirled his hand, shifting the hand atop his to hold it. "Let’s live like this forever, my love," he said sincerely, his eyes soft and full of affection.

"Mhm." Her smile stretched, nodding. "Let’s do that. We’ll live a happily ever after."

This time, that was his only goal.

To live happily ever after.
