Chapter 263: You will not ruin me, Alicia, and neither will she.

[TRIGGER WARNING: THE Chapter CONTAINS BULLYING AND ABUSE. NOT ADVISABLE FOR 17 YEARS OLD AND BELOW.]

[Years ago]

"Why are you doing this to me?" A young lady gazed up at the two figures towering over her. She wiggled her hands behind her, but they were tightly bound by a chain and onto the foot of the bed. Her head throbbed painfully as blood dripped from the side of her temple.

Until now, everything was hazy to her. But she knew deep in her heart this wasn’t good. ƒrēenovelkiss.com

"She’s awake... she’s alive..."

The young lady slowly gazed up at the other lady talking. Shadows covered their faces as they were looking down at her. However, by the sound of the young lady’s voice, she was just as scared as her.

The other young man standing beside the other lady didn’t speak a word. But the one who was bound by the chains could feel his intent gaze.

"What should we do... Marcus?"

When the other young lady turned, Shanaiah’s face came to light. Her eyes were shaky and her complexion was pale. Sweats covered her face and entire trembling body.

"I don’t know," Marcus breathed out. "She was out cold just now."

The young lady, Alicia, winced as another painful throb struck her head. Their hushed voices were making her head hurt. But with every throb of her head, snippets of the events before this surged to her like a glitch.

The memories only stopped with a painful strike in the back of her head.

Alicia gasped in horror as her brief confusion turned clear. She looked up at these two wicked young monsters before her.

Some time ago, these two were picking on her again. While she was trying to do their homework, they kept playing with her hair or throwing papers at her. Shanaiah even cut a portion of her hair out of boredom. It wasn’t like these rich kids hadn’t been bullying her.

Alicia met these kids as their tutor. However, these two felt like they didn’t need to respect her or listen to her just because they were the same age. When she tried to keep her ground, Shanaiah slapped her so hard that Alicia felt like she had lost her hearing for a second.

That was how the abuse and bullying started.

Despite that, Alicia endured the bullying because of the children in the orphanage she was looking after. She knew she had to support them because the head of the orphanage was corrupt and she couldn’t keep asking her brother for help when his family wanted nothing to do with her.

She did everything, bending to their wills, doing their homework, taking all the beatings, and even... staying quiet when she was defiled — over and over.

Today was just like the usual.

But this time, she had enough.

When Shanaiah cut a portion of her hair, Alicia finally got the courage to end it. She already had evidence to report these kids; she took a video of their bullying some time ago. She did it as her protection. However, just when she was walking out of the hotel room, something hit her from the back.

And now, here she was, chained and wounded.

"You..." Alicia’s voice shook, making the other two turn to her. "... please, let me go. I didn’t do anything to you... why are you doing this to me?"

"Marcus..." Shanaiah panicked, tugging Marcus’ arm. She looked up at him, scared. "We have to unchain her right now!"

Marcus held his breath while keeping his gaze on the weeping Alicia. "What if she goes to the police after we let her go?"

Shanaiah’s breath hitched as she froze on the spot.

"No, I will not do it!" Alicia shook her head profusely, the chains marking her wrist and adding to the bruises and the healing cuts and burns they had done on her arms.

Her voice was laced with desperation as she added, "I will not do it! I swear to God — I will not go to the police!" Her tears flooded her face as the growing fear in her heart slowly overwhelmed her. "Just please... just let me go. Please... I just want to go home. I didn’t say a word for months, right? I will stay silent and live as quietly as a dead rat! Please, please, please. Don’t do this to me."

Shanaiah pressed her lips as her resolved waned. But then Marcus spoke.

"But you said you got us on tape." His voice was low and emotionless. "And that you’re going to send it to your non-existent brother and the police."

Wasn’t that the reason Marcus’s eyes dimmed and hit her head before she could even leave?

"N — no." Alicia’s lips quivered, shaking her head. "I was wrong. I would not do it. I didn’t have a brother! I’m an orphan, remember? Marcus, I promise I won’t tell a soul about it until the day I die!"

"Marcus..." Shanaiah clasped Marcus’s arm, confused. "What should we do?"

Marcus didn’t answer immediately.

When he struck her head, they immediately tied her up to think of a better resolution. However, while being tied up, Alicia suddenly felt cold and stopped breathing for a while. Hence, they thought she was dead.

Truthfully, when they thought she was dead, there was this sense of relief in their hearts. It only meant they only have to do one thing: hide her body. But now that Alicia was alive, would they kill her this time?

The mere thought of doing a premeditated murder terrified Shanaiah. She might’ve hurt Alicia, slapped her, kicked her, burned her with a cigarette, but she couldn’t kill her!

"No, no." Shanaiah paced back and forth and ran her fingers through her hair. "Marcus, we have to let her go. She said she’s not going to say a word. We’ll keep an eye on her and get the evidence! I think it’s for the best —"

"Get the bag."

Shanaiah stopped with wide eyes, shifting her eyes to Marcus. "What?"

"Let’s take a hit first." Marcus snapped his eyes to Shanaiah, carrying this cold countenance as if he had already decided. "It’ll be easier if we do."

Upon hearing this, Alicia’s heart sank before fear took charge. Just like anyone who expected their doom, Alicia screamed her lungs out for help. She screamed and shouted until her throat bled, and while she did, Marcus forced Shanaiah to take drugs before he suddenly knocked her unconscious.

Seeing this turn of events from the bedroom through the wide-open door, Alicia gazed at Marcus with deep fear. He was like a monster towering over Shanaiah’s body on the floor. Her breath hitched when he locked eyes with her.

"What... what are you... trying to do?" Her lips quivered, but all she heard from him was;

"You will not ruin me, Alicia, and neither will she."
