Chapter 315: Will I go to hell if I lose my virginity before marriage?

"Are you okay?"

Fil froze while her pupils dilated like the aperture of the camera. Her heart thumped against her chest it echoed in her ears. For a moment, her breathing suspended and the time slowed down.

Strange how she watched this world continue to evolve and everyone could only adapt to the changing times. Yet, at this very moment, the world felt like it stopped. Right then and there, it was akin to how she put a stop to the world, exhausting all her life energy and powers just to make the time clock back.

’This voice...’ was the very voice she longed for.

Fil let the arm around her waist pull her back to her feet. Her eyes remained downcast, catching his shadow overlap with hers.

Was this him?

Was it really him?

Did he get reborn?

Myriads of thoughts surged in her mind at lightning speed. However, her entire body wouldn’t move to see if she was mistaken. At the back of her mind, she was afraid that she was mistaken. That this was all an illusion — a wishful thinking, a dream she kept dreaming every single day.

Above all, if this was him... how was she going to face him? After what she put him through for a selfish reason, what right did she have to think of meeting him again? It wasn’t like she wished to be with him again. All she wanted was to see him, watch him from afar, and root for him from a distance.

"Miss?" again, the same baritone caressed her ears. "Are you okay?"

"Uh... hmm." She nodded, keeping her eyes down. "Sorry."

Fil slowly took a step to the side, not daring to lift her eyes. Her action gave him the idea she was making a way for him.

"It’s okay," he said with a subtle smile. "Are you?"

"Mhm." she nodded meekly.

"Okay."

Having said that, Fil felt the man’s figure slowly walk past her. She kept her eyes down even after he walked past her, following his aura with only her keen senses.

Then, he stopped.

’Why did he stop?’ she wondered, knowing he stopped at the end of the hallway. After a second, she could feel his face on her, making her brows rise in shock.

Acting like a kid who was first experiencing such things, Fil abruptly turned around. She raised her head, her eyes shaky as she scanned the hallway she was headed originally.

’Bathroom!’ she told herself, taking large, hurried steps away from him. Even then, she could feel his gaze on her back. She hastened her steps and almost jumped at the turn.

In no time, Fil found herself slamming the restroom door and rushing to the sink.

"Oh, my god," she gasped, resting her hands on the edge of the sink.

She closed her eyes while panting, trying to catch her breath. Her heart was pounding so much she could hear it throb right in front of her ears. Her face and body also felt hot as if she came right straight from the oven.

Slowly, she reopened her eyes and gazed at her reflection.

Her cheeks and forehead were red and flustered.

"Am I crazy?" she asked herself in disbelief, now realizing her silliness just now. "Why are you acting like that?!"

Fil clenched her teeth and glared at herself, embarrassed at how cowardly she took that. She wasn’t even sure it was Jackson or just resembled his voice. Yet, she fled the scene with her tail in between her legs.

"Damn it," she hissed, running her fingers through her hair irritably. "What’s wrong with me? This is why I don’t like him the first time Latrice laid her eyes on him."

Because deep in her heart, Fil knew she would fall head over heels for him. She knew he was trouble — more troublesome to deal with than the curse she was born with. And now, it was showing.

Snapping her eyes up, another defeated exhale escaped her.

"I’m crazy," she whispered and opened the faucet, bending over to splash her heated water with some water to cool it down. Fortunately, she only wore light makeup tonight. Hence, she wasn’t afraid of makeup smudging all across her face.

Once she felt her face cool down, she rested her hands on the edge of the sink once more. She stared at herself solemnly, unfazed by the droplets of water on her face.

"I am the child of evil and I got to live for thousands of years," she told herself. "A man... will not make me act so silly again. No matter what, I had to face this dilemma with dignity."

Fil nodded at herself, repeating that remark in her mind at least ten times to fully convince herself. When she fully convinced herself, her lips curled up. She reached out for the tissue and wiped her face, taking her precious time as if she was stalling time.

’Why is he still in here?’ she wondered when she finished, still sensing his presence in the nightclub. ’Don’t tell me he’s waiting for me?’

Wasn’t that a little too farfetched?

Fil shook her head. "Impossible. I might know him from thousands of years ago, but he wouldn’t remember me."

When she manipulated the time, Fil made sure he would die as a human. They didn’t even meet during his time as Jackson Fitzroy. Therefore, there was no way Jackson knew about her at all.

Having this thought in mind, Fil couldn’t help but chuckle.

"How silly of me," she chortled, shaking her head. "Even if we met, he wouldn’t recognize me at all. Why did I run away like a coward?"

Fil squinted, glaring at herself. How did this thought not cross her immediately? If only it did, she wouldn’t act so clumsily and silly.

What a disappointment.

Fil took a deep breath and smiled. "Moreover, he might have been married now or dating. Who knows?"

Time had changed, people’s lives changed, and some even had their fates altered. Just like Alicia, she got to live and now has a successful career. Kenzo and Latrice were doing well; she believed Latrice was slowly falling for Kenzo’s charms.

Vincent and Valerie weren’t poisoned by the complicated world of the elites and complicated family tree. Marcus and Shanaiah... well, they got what they deserved. Not to mention, Cole (Kenzo’s brother )and Olivia (Fil’s previous boss) got engaged in this lifetime.

Elise remained the same, but she had Alicia as a friend. She was also acquainted with Michael and somehow, Michael still became friends with Anton.

Everything changed for the good or bad.

It would surely be the same with Jackson.

If the man she bumped into was truly Jackson Sisson, then Fil was certain his life this time also changed. He could have married or engaged! He might have children of his own.

A subtle smile spread across her face as she thought about it. "It might not be me whom he has a family with, but well... it’s not like I can ever give him a family of our own."

Fil huffed and faced herself in the mirror again. This time, her mind was clearer than earlier — it even showed on her face. Whatever would come her way, she would accept it with an open heart, just like how she accepts the changing tides.

With that thought in mind, Fil grabbed her small purse and pranced outside the restroom with this newfound understanding. Despite that, when she was reaching the end turn, her steps slowed down. She didn’t stop, though.

’It’s okay,’ was all she told herself and bravely took the turn.

Her steps halted for a moment when her eyes landed on the person leaning against the wall at the end of the hallway. Her large gulp echoed in her ears as her gaze studied the beautiful and sharp side profile.

’It’s him,’ she thought. ’I wasn’t mistaken.’

But then again... it was better if she kept a distance.

Taking a step forward, Fil kept her chin high and her eyes ahead. Her attention would shift in his direction every once in a while, but her steps didn’t hasten nor did they slow down. She kept it at a steady pace, catching him slowly lift his head and glance in her direction.

Their eyes briefly met before his gaze crept past her figure.

’I knew it,’ she laughed to herself as she slowly walked past her. ’There’s no need for me to be so silly since there’s nothing that could tie up from the beginning of time until now.’

And even if there was, he wouldn’t remember. It would be just like how Fil couldn’t remember him when they first met.

For some reason, her heart felt rather light as she was almost at the end of the hallway. At this point, she was no longer selfish and wanted a happy ending of her own. After all, she already accepted that everyone’s life was better without her in it.

Watching them from afar was good enough for her.

However, just as she reached the end of the hallway, her steps stopped when Jackson suddenly spoke.

"Will I go to hell if I lose my virginity before marriage?"
