The Evolution of Genius: Every Night, I Get Smarter!-Chapter 86: Competition
Chapter 86: Competition
I urged Oliv and Veronica to wait for me for a second so I could chat to the man.
Staring at The Lord in disbelief, I questioned, "Wait. If they gave the serum to Zytherians, then how did you obtain it? You have no way to move through clusters physically, you said?"
The Lord then went on to explain, "They did give the serums to the Zytherians, but one of The Architects took one of the serums and delivered it to me. He claimed it was under specific instructions from his superior. Moreover, he warned me not to disclose the purpose of Somnus Veri to the person who takes it, or the bearer would face severe side effects."
Perplexed, I pressed further, "Why are they called The Architects?"
The Lord explained, "They appear seemingly out of nowhere and possess an inexplicable control over events. We have no means to defy them. That’s why we refer to them as The Architects. Sometimes, they are also called informants, as they seem to know about things beyond the clusters."
I voiced my observations to The Lord, expressing, "The Zytherian I spoke with seemed to imply that you haven’t been able to contact me from the other cluster that they gave the serum to. Have you even attempted to do so? And why is it that you all decided to give the serum to me?"
"First of all, each cluster is merely a different root of possibilities, yet somehow they converge toward the same resolutions. That’s why the person they gave the serum to was your counterpart in their cluster." freёnovelkiss.com
Continuing, The Lord revealed, "They have adopted a drastically different approach. Just like we did, they are blocking our contact through dreams. But there is one more thing... They behave inhumanly..."
"Their bearer is not allowed to move beyond a designated spot. He is imprisoned. They restrict his movement to prevent anyone from getting to him. He only receives rewards for gaining knowledge. He is treated like some sort of lab rat, a guinea pig."
"In comparison to them, we are humanitarian. We will not do anything that goes against our principles," The Lord affirmed.
I thought back to when I thought that the USA wouldn’t treat me like a lab rat, ’Is it also the USA in the other cluster?’
I had this feeling that I needed a real shift in my mindset. It was time to completely switch the way I behaved. I’ve been too lenient.
I addressed The Lord, "The Quantum Pathogen... It was not initiated by Zytherians. I’m sure of it. Lord, you can’t think I believe that. You need me. Not the other way around. So from now on, tell me everything. Everything as it truly is."
Surveying the house and then glancing at the two girls seated in the living room, I added, "Or I’m going to just enjoy my life until I get killed by the side effects of the Somnus Veri."
The Lord sighed, realizing how bad things were, and he told me, "Max, I need you to come with me after I tell you about it. Leave everything behind. I do not know what the side effects will be like, but I am sure it will be harder for you to do normal things."
In response, I burst into laughter and declared, "No way, man! I am not leaving anything behind. I have people I care about and things I need to finish. Just tell me what it is about, and I will figure it out. Do not worry."
"The architects appeared at the very moment we proved how the universe began, as if they had been waiting for that moment since ever," the Lord said firmly. "We also discovered what consciousness is and deemed it the context of the 7th layer of quantum physics, beginning the Realization Era."
I interjected, "Therion already told me about the consciousness part."
The Lord, taken aback, placed his hand on his forehead and exclaimed, "What? Therion already told you?"
I responded, suggesting, "Maybe he also works against you. You better think about it."
The Lord’s expression reflected complexity, but he proceeded, saying, "Let me tell you about the beginning. In each of the clusters, there was a Big Bang, as you would call it. But even before that, there existed a super-condensed black hole at the center of each cluster."
"It consisted of a massive amount of quarks. This was what we knew a long time ago, but after we developed reconstruction technology, we found out something more about it. We found out about the origin of existence."
"All the quarks in that black hole were entangled with a single element. That single element was nowhere to be found. It did not exist within the clusters. Therefore, it must have existed outside of them, controlling the state of the quarks inside."
"After we found out about this, The Architects appeared, gifting us with things we are still trying to understand. Somnus Veri is one of them."
I listened intently, but The Lord still did not mention the Quantum Pathogen, so I inquired, "I believe they did not just gift you, but they also punished you with the Quantum Pathogen, hmm?"
The Lord, with a tinge of remorse, admitted, "I’m sorry for lying to you. The Pathogen came from above—it appeared in each cluster. They said it was to make us work faster."
Puzzled, I asked, "Work faster on what?"
The Lord responded solemnly, "On trying to break out. They treat us like objects. They want us to break out of their trap for their entertainment. We have no choice but to believe that getting out of here will grant us freedom. Even if we aren’t real in the first place."
responded resolutely, "I don’t care if I’m real or not. I will not leave anyone behind. The competition with Zytherians is what I’m truly concerned about. It’s induced by The Architects, right? They want the clusters to compete."
The Lord nodded and somberly acknowledged, "As I previously stated, it appears that they are doing it for amusement purposes only. We are in a dire situation and must comply or perish; time is running out before The Pathogen begins to evolve at an alarming rate. Furthermore, the Zytherians... I believe they will declare war."
After a brief pause, he said, "That’s why you need to go with me to Coelus where we can at least protect you."
The Lord, recognizing my resolve, said, "You can take them with you. Whoever you care about."
Well... this was a terrific offer, but why would I leave all of my work behind? All of my time spent on my work. All of my unfinished goals.
I responded resolutely, "No! I still have many things to do on Earth. I won’t be leaving Earth behind to wither. I might not be able to do it yet, but... I will prevent things from happening the way that those Architects you are talking about want them to happen."
n that moment of realization, I understood that if there was something beyond the clusters that humanity lived in, then why couldn’t I bring humanity to see it?
At that precise moment, I began working to shape humanity into what it is today.
The Lord added, "It is clear that the Zytherians can not break through the clusters’ barrier. But if they say they are ready, it is likely that through Evolved Jumping, they will be able to start controlling some people. At first, it might just be the weak ones, but the world could end in complete chaos. We need to move faster, Max."
I moved to Oliv and Veronica and placed my hand on Oliv’s arm.
Oliv looked at me, curious. "What were you talking about with the man? Who is he?" she asked.
I turned to The Lord, holding Oliv’s arm. "We must come to an understanding. I can spend every other day on Coelus, but you will provide me with authority over your people. I will come up with a plan."
The Lord considered my proposal for a moment, then nodded. "I’ll send some people tomorrow. Things could very well become crazy in a couple of weeks. Observe yourself and tell me about any side effects," he advised. "I’ll leave you here; I need to go talk with Therion."
As The Lord closed the door behind him, Oliv turned to me with a puzzled expression. "What is this all about?"
I sighed, contemplating the complex situation. "I’ll probably explain everything to you soon. For now, it would be better if you stayed here at the house. If things escalate quickly, I’ll call our parents to come to Germany."
I wanted to ensure Oliv’s safety while thinking about the next move.
Oliv, sensing my hesitation, questioned, "What are you talking about? Don’t hide anything from me." The concern in her eyes urged me to find the right words to ease her worries.
All this time, Veronica sat quietly looking at us, but what she said next made things much more complicated.
Veronica’s face twisted, revealing a cruel smile.
"It’s too late. Max."
"Welcome to Hell."
