Chapter 135: You should tell her sooner
***Authors note: I’m feeling a lot better, so back to our scheduled updates starting now***
***Spoiler Alert for I was Kidnapped for Revenge by a Ruthless Alpha***
Odette felt better when Delilah came to see her. She’d been so distraught and down, Delilah’s carefree attitude and shameless monologues were a heavenly refresher for her.
Delilah felt immense guilt for not being around when Odette went through that. She was alone when the girls gave her that gift. Delilah knew how social events made Odette anxious, but still she wasn’t there, nothing could excuse that. Delilah got caught up flirting and that’s why she wasn’t there when it counted.
Odette never asked where she was. She never expected the people around to bend to her will and be at her beck and call. But if last night taught her anything. She is the only person she can count on. She would never let herself down.
She would never let her guard down again. She would train harder; she wouldn’t need her father or anyone to save her. She would be her own savior. Her own best friend. Whatever she needed, she would become it.
Never again will someone humiliate her and hurt her like that again.
From that moment on Odette built a wall around her heart.
She looked at her two best friends. Warmth and love filled her, they could have keys to the one door to her heart.
She could spend the rest of her life with the two of them.
She remembered Kalvin’s confession and wonder if it meant they were a couple now.
She’d just wait for him to make a move or ask a question.
Odette just wanted to go home. She was ready to get back to her schedule and add ability training finally.
She remembered her father’s words, "Never let them see your best. Never let them know what you’re truly capable of." ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
So, she’d train privately and with her father.
She would be fire and fury in a dress.
She would be having dinner with her mother tonight, she still hadn’t seen her mother since last night. Odette knew she was busy, but she really missed her mother.
And Violet was swamped she had been since the incident. And though she finished the compulsion, she had to go and meet with the witches.
It had been 16 years since she’d seen them all last. Since the day of the binding spell.
She fidgeted, nervous about her daughter.
She went with Arya to the spot in the woods via stones. It looked the exact same. The same devastatingly beautiful trees and flowers. Except this time, she was more aware of its enchanting beauty.
Golden flecks flooded in the air, like leftovers a spell that bring sunlight. The ground looked soft with low cut grass and different flowers blooming. It reminded her of Jeremy’s garden back home.
Which he gave to Violet when he moved out with Rosa.
She’d taken very good care of it too, and seeing the forest floor resembling the garden brought on a strong sense of homesickness, and she suddenly couldn’t wait to be home.
Arya and Violet walked in a comfortable silence until they reached the meeting spot. They passed through the barrier no in a protected circle of silence the group would be free to speak openly amongst themselves now.
Violet noticed that The Maiden who now stood before her, is not the same Maiden that came last time. She was curious as to why.
As if reading her mind The Crone willingly answered the question.
"The previous Maiden was released from role after the binding spell took place. She was mad and she cut ties with the coven, she left, and we do not concern ourselves with witches not in our coven. We have since trained a new Maiden." The Crone gestured towards a small red haired and freckled girl. Her lashes were long, and her eyes were a vibrant and lively shade of green. She looked full of wonder and radiated power.
"Good afternoon, Queen Violet, it is a pleasure to meet you." The Maiden bowed deeply.
Violet commended the girl’s manners, much better than the last Maiden.
"So, let me guess the bind is lifting. And she’s coming into her abilities, and they’re a lot stronger than you anticipated and now you don’t know what to do. Did I get that right?" The Mother asked in her flat and firm tone. Always straight to the point.
"Yes. How do I help her? How can I protect her." Violet asked with pleading eyes. She was feeling desperate.
The new Maiden snorted. Both The Mother and The Crone leaned over and looked at her in shock.
"I’m sorry. I couldn’t help it. The fact the Moonchild needs anyone’s protection was funny. Though I know she’s just coming into her abilities, but the idea was funny, I’m sorry for losing my composure." The Maiden bowed in shame as she held in more laughter.
"She’s new here." Arya nudged Violet jokingly.
Violet chuckled under her breath, I guess the idea of a divine child needing the protection of anyone was kinda funny.
"She must be trained. She’s trained in physical combat, but her ability skill is low, she needs training to harness her prowess and learn to control her gifts. Her Diving Fyre isn’t far behind, and she has to be able to control it. Remember the prophecy." The Mother spoke.
"So, there’s nothing more besides training? No stones, no spells? Nothing?" Violet was desperate, this couldn’t be it, there had to be more, with all the modern advancement and spell additions, there must be something. Violet was utterly convinced. She was holding on to this shred of hope.
But it was useless and futile. When Crone confirmed her fears "No, my child, there is none. We were only able to bind her because she was young, there can be no other binding done. Nothing to mask or slow the growth. The spell will release her abilities as it dissipates and that’s all there is. She is Divine. Remember that. She is absolute, a goddess in the flesh. She is our salvation or our demise. You must train her and teach her well."
Violet shivered when she was, once again, reminded of the burden her daughter will carry.
"Will you tell her?" The Maiden asked.
"Not yet. Her birthday was a devastation. I don’t know how she can handle a burden like this one, it’s better if only Ash and I carry this until she’s strong enough to shoulder it." Violet didn’t want to put any more weight on her daughter’s shoulder, she was already struggling and under so much pressure. Being a teenager was rough, add the fact she’s a prophesized child, a god. That’s too much for an adult to bear let alone a child.
"We heard from Arya, she unknowingly snapped some girls’ necks from a completely different room." The Mother frowned. It was a really unnerving thought; a teen girl could murder 5 people in a different room with her abilities.
"I know." Violet’s heart ached for the girls that lost their lives. They didn’t deserve to die. Punished yes, but death. That was more than they probably bargained for. Though, she knew Ash thought differently. Violet was never one for violence, she always thought there could be another way.
Ash always told her she was too soft for the Queen of Darkness, and that the Queen of Light and Love would be more befitting of her.
"We will be keeping in touch, we want to know of her progress. We will also start training our own witches and inform other covens that an ancient darkness is creeping into the horizon." The Crone said "A battle is brewing and now that the Moonchild has been released, the clock has started moving forward."
Violet furrowed her brows giving her a serious look and nodded firmly. She understood what the witch was hinting at. She would need to start their own preparations.
"What has been said here cannot be written or spoken." The Mother spoke.
"So shall it be." The witches nodded and the suddenly the blanket of silence was lifted and the sounds of the forest came rushing in.
The witches opened a portal and stepped through disappearing instantly from their sight.
"You know, you’ll have to tell her soon. She has a right to know..." Arya looked to Violet; she gave her a look of warning. "She’ll be pissed if you keep this from her for too long."
"I know..."
"When do you plan to do it?" Arya asked.
"When she’s ready." Violet answered.
"And when is that?" Arya pushing, she wanted a real answer, Arya thought Odette had a right to know as soon as she started training. She didn’t like keeping this big of a secret from the person it concerned most. The dishonesty didn’t sit well with her.
"After she’s had some time to process last night. I still haven’t seen her since before the incident. I want to give her the chance to pull her broken pieces together again before shattering them further."
"It’s big deal, Arya, telling her the truth." Violet says.
"I know, but it’ll only make it worse the longer you wait to tell her." Arya mentions to Violet, reminding her of how her daughter handles dishonesty. "She will feel betrayed. She won’t forgive easily, the sooner you come forward with the truth, the better. You don’t want to deepen the blow by withholding this information for too long."
"I know Arya, but she doesn’t know she killed people last night, she only knows they died because of her. That’s a big burden; she was given the head of a kitten as a present for goddess’s sake. I can’t just ’hey daughter you’re the prophesied child of the most powerful goddess’ like yeah, that will fly over so well right now." Violet threw her hands up in frustration.
"Well, Violet, wait as long as you feel is right, but don’t say I didn’t warn you if this backfires in you and Ash’s face." Arya shrugged her shoulders and let it go. As understanding and mendable Violet is, she can be really stubborn when it matters.
"I know... I know..." Violet answers before they teleport back, and she goes and seeks out her daughter. The conversation with Ash can wait. Violet desperately needed to see and hold her baby girl.
