The Gentle Maiden and Five Lustful Brothers-Chapter 147: She was coming for them
Chapter 147: She was coming for them
***AURHOR’S NOTE: SORRY I’VE BEEN AWAY. MY DAD CAME TO TOWN AND I WAS SPENDING TIME WITH HIM. BUT BACK TO OUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED UPDATES***
A chill settled in the air around them as they all stared at Violet. The hostility that sat under those words.
"So, who’s the first target?"
Was deeply unsettling.
Those were things you could usually expect to hear from Ash, but not from Violet.
The girl at this table was someone entirely knew to them.
"Um, this is the village of the she-wolf you interrogated. It’s closest, and currently the only lead we’ve got." Lilith announced.
Violet shot her a sharp look "That’s the only lead? There’s nothing else?"
"Nothing has come up with our spells or scrying. It’s like she’s been completely shielded from us. I don’t know how they’re able to keep her hidden, but they are. The other seers, they can’t see her either. She’s just gone." Arya admitted dejectedly. Guilt blanketed her voice. Arya felt like she failed Violet and Odette. And herself too. She was such a powerful witch and belonged to a powerful coven, yet there was no magic she could use to locate her future daughter in law.
"We did find they are similar stones to what was used to kidnap you all the years ago. They’d been tweaked to transport more people or further distances, or both. I did also discover the other stones left behind where stones designed to imprison powerful beings." Jeremy offered "It means, someone planned long and hard for this, and someone knew they were trapping something strong. The magic that fused these stones, it’s no novice working with them, they’re the real deal."
"Well glad someone had something new for me." Violet scoffed. Ice chilled around her; everyone was feeling nervous and on edge. People were baffled with how to talk to Violet.
Ash just sat and smiled watching the internal chaos at his table unfold.
"So, they stole my daughter with the help of some local dogs and magic rocks?" Violet asked loudly. Her voice cold laced with layer of disappointment. It made everyone in the room, including Ash, fidget with discomfort.
"Ash, Kalvin, you were responsible for training her, why was she so easily subdued? Did you actually train her?" Violet’s eyes darted between both Kalvin and Ash intensely with predatory glares.
Kalvin’s face turned beet red, and Ash’s amused grin dropped.
Ash did not like it when Violet turned her heat to him, he was her king and her husband.
"She is well trained, but there was always a limit to what she could learn because of the request someone made of others." Ash said throwing daggers pointed back at Violet.
Violet felt the ping of the guilt from years of lying to everyone. To their daughter.
If she had told the truth, didn’t try to extend the deadline. Maybe things would have turned out differently.
"The bracelet!" Violet shouted. "Can you guys track a bracelet I had specially made? It might still have residual magic even if it’s worn off."
"Yes! As long as there’s a sliver of magic left, I can track it." Kalvin answered, his voice full of hope.
"Okay, what do you need?" Violet asked.
"An image of the bracelet. I have everything else for the ritual." Kalvin answered and then paused "Oh and I need more of her hair. We’ve used all of the previous samples."
"Done. Go prepare, I’ll get you her hair and a photo of the bracelet." Violet ordered sending Kalvin away.
"Still prepare to head to the village, they bred a traitor, and no doubt there are more of them, there." Ash ordered. He wasn’t ready to give up revenge against the wolves that helped kidnapped his daughter. Any shifter found aiding in the crime will have their village punished.
Ash was out for blood, just like Violet was. They’d tear through the world and burn it to the ground to find their little girl.
"As you wish, my King" Gabriel was always the most formal of all the brothers. It’s why he handled the business aspect of the Drakarys family businesses.
Gabriel was the first up, tapping his father, Vladimir’s, chair. Following his oldest son’s lead, Vlad rose from his seat.
"I’ll take my leave, my King and my Queen. I will organize the soldiers." Vlad bowed to his Ash and Violet before leaving with Vlad.
"You’re awfully calm, Oliver." Ash looked to his brother.
"If I let the calm down, the rage will boil out, and I don’t think the house can handle three raging royals within its walls, the two of you is more than enough. I’m saving my anger." Oliver smiled a twisted smile. freёnovelkiss.com
He may be the most laid-back brother, but he wasn’t soft, not by a long shot. Violet had brought the kind out of Oliver, but with this change, and the absence of his favorite niece (Sorry Delilah). There was no reason for Oliver to keep hold of the kindness Violet and Odette helped bloom in his heart.
It seemed Violet’s corruption was spreading to those around her. The ones most affected by her love.
"The rest of you get ready, war is calling, and no one is immune to the conscription." Ash said standing, "Let’s go Violet, we have things to do and need to go find hair in your meticulously clean daughters’ room."
Violet nodded and rose from her seat, "You’re all dismissed. I’ll see you all shortly.
"Queen Violet, can we have some time to talk later?" Arya got up from her seat and approached her friend.
"Yes, after I find what’s needed for the new searching spell." Violet answered her walking away. "I’ll meet you in the moon room."
"Yes, thank you." Arya said bowing her head.
Violet and Ash exited and went searching Odette’s room for hair.
Rosa and Jeremy sat alone in the room after everyone left.
"Violet was terrifying, I’ve never seen her like that." Jeremy spoke first.
"I don’t know who that was in Violet’s skin, but that wasn’t Violet. That... was... that was something twisted and demonic." Rosa growled. The hair on the back of her neck hadn’t laid flat until after the emptied. Violet drought alarm bells with her the moment she walked through the door.
"Want to know something crazy?" Jeremy asked quietly.
"What? Crazier than that?" Rosa joked half-heartedly.
"Yes, quite actually." Jeremy answered with all seriousness.
"Do tell." Rosa raised an eyebrow at her husband.
"It’s all her. She’s not possessed. The same thing happened to Lilith... When she lost her daughter in her mortal life, the pain of the loss cracked something in her. Lilith wasn’t always a fire breathing dragon. She was once just a simple witch. Wrath and rage turned her into the Queen of the Damned. That’s what’s happened with Violet. She cracked, just like Lilith." Jeremy paused and then chuckled. "Guess being a bloodthirsty psycho runs in the family."
"Lilith was a witch?" Rosa’s mouth dropped.
"Not in the sense that Arya is, she was a priestess, and she turned her back on the gods when Adam cast her from Eden because he met Eve and took her daughter from her. She turned to the god of darkness, the devil, the ancient one to ease her pain, and he gave her power. Violet was blessed by the moon goddess, but it seems she too is turning her back from the gods and may also seek the god of darkness and shadow just like my grandmother." Jeremy smirked. "Things are going to get interesting."
