Chapter 68: Riley isn’t invited but she is

"He did what?" Vlad’s eyes flashed a glowing red instantly, and he started fuming "My piece of shit son did what?"

"You’re telling me my piece of shit son drugged my future daughter in law." Vlad snapped, the disrespect he’d shown earlier and now this. Oh, his son was going to be lucky if he let him keep his fangs.

Storming out of the room Vlad rushes straight for Riley’s room and Hyde follows.

Everyone else completely oblivious to the battle that was about to unfold.

Gabriel was dealing with the party set up, everything was running on schedule despite the fiasco that has been the last two days. The wine, champagne, and other alcoholic/nonalcoholic beverages. Catering. Out back is decorated with streamers and extra lighting making the ambiance perfect while keeping the area well let. There’s dance floors set up outside and a stage with a DJ booth. The brothers spared no effort or expense in arranging this party. Gabriel had brought on extra staff, both human and supernatural beings. Gabriel was sure to brief the others on keeping their race hidden to not freak out the humans that will be attending. Everything was going perfectly.

Violet was with Viktoria in her room cuddled up napping together. After everything that went down between them it would amaze anyone how Violet was able to make Viktoria feel safe enough to sleep in the same bed. Viktoria had no idea how much she needed this girl friend thing, but she does now. Violet in one day has made herself a top priority in Viktoria’s book.

Violet would bring peace and light to people and places that have long spent to much time in the dark. Violet understood now, why her cousins were so protective over Violet: it wasn’t just the sex and blood, it was the light she brought that chased away their haunting shadows. Viktoria knew for some reason she would be safe, Violet would protect her, and she would die for Violet.

Everything that was peaceful was about to be turned upside down. Hell was about to break loose.

Bursting through the back doors he badges up to Riley’s room. Everyone present stopped dead in their tracks, a mix of fear, confusion, curiosity and excitement was felt through the room. The doors slamming and the sounds of stomping footsteps jerked Violet and Viktoria awake.

Viktoria sensing a shift in the power in the house, now get threatened and needed to protect Violet. Viktoria quickly moves in front of Violet on the bed fangs stretched claws extended she gets into a launching position ready to use her body as a shield and sword for Violet.

It’s weird this new sense of need when it came to Violet. Viktoria liked girls but not to this extent. Was it her blood still having a lasting effect? Or was it really her stirring affection for Violet.

"What’s happening?" Violet asked, a little shaken up by the sudden jolt awake.

"My uncle is here." Viktoria said quietly. No longer worried for Violet’s safety, once he got close enough the feel of his power let her know who he was. Violet though had the same blood was mortal, so was not privy to the same connections.

"He’s here for Riley." Viktoria whispered lowly. Viktoria feared him; however, she knew he would do no harm to Violet. She was nervous if her uncle would come for her too. She had shiver run down her spine when thought about what he could do to her.

"No, don’t worry I won’t let that happen." Violet rested her hand on Viktoria’s shoulder and smiled.

Viktoria slowed her breathing, remembering that Violet is capable of reading thoughts.

"It’s knowing them, not reading them. Like ’I know what you’re about to say’ kinda deal." Violet corrected.

"Same difference." Viktoria responded.

"No. The other sounds a lot more invasive." Violet shuffled some, feeling guilty.

"They’re both invasive, but I suppose that’s fine. What ever helps you sleep at night." Viktoria rolled her eyes; she wasn’t actually afraid of Violet knowing her thoughts. She trusted Violet, she doesn’t know why she feels she can so easily trust Violet, but nonetheless, she does.

"Are you excited for your birthday party?" Viktoria asked attempting to steer the conversation away from her feelings.

"I am! I’ve never had a real birthday party, not one like this with a lot of people. So this is a big deal for me actually. And the fact the princes did this all for me just warms my heart and makes my inside tingle, putting butterflies in her tummy.

"Me either, but it’s pretty cool you’ll still let attend yours, even after everything." Viktoria with a guilty expression said as she shuffled her feet.

"I forgive you. I promise." Violet said wrapping her arms around Viktoria giving her a big squeeze. The blood rushed to Viktoria’s cheeks turning them a rosy pink. She wasn’t used to such intimate affection. Her mother was loving but wasn’t affectionate in the physical sense.

After their very much needed nap and heart to heart the girls started getting ready. For the party. It was all giggles and laughter when a knock is heard at the door. But before Violet could open it Rosa burst through it.

"It’s my best friends Birthday! Happy Birthday mi hija" Rosa yelled at the top of her lungs.

"Ahh Rosa!" Violet rushed into Rosa’s arms.

Holding Violet, she spots Viktoria shifting awkwardly in her seat.

"Why is she in here?" Rosa dragged the she out with a malicious tone.

"I was invited. Obviously." Viktoria sneered.

"Violet, what the fuck? She literally assaulted you last night, and you’re just in here playing house with her?" Rosa snapped. She was pissed Violet would invite Viktoria to her first birthday party. What was she thinking? This naïve girl really was this stupid, wasn’t she?

"I know, but we made up, she’s doesn’t feel the way she did before. She won’t hurt me again." Violet’s voice was as soft and sweet as ever. Rosa has a tough time telling Violet no when she asks like that.

"Listen, I know it was messed up, what I did, but I can guarantee it won’t happen again, I’m team Violet 100% now." Viktoria said crossing heart like children do.

"You’re damn right that won’t happen again, I don’t care the punishment, I’ll kill you next time." Viktoria could feel the daggers coming from Rosa, she knew Rosa meant every word she said.

"Okay, calm down Cugo. No need to keep growling. If I hurt Violet again, you can kill me and I wont even fight back, sound good?" Viktoria acted like she wasn’t concerned with gaining Rosa’s approval, but in all actuality, Viktoria felt she did need Rosa’s validation if she was going to truly be welcomed into Violet’s life.

Rosa rolled her eyes "You get one chance, and only one, fuck it up and you live long enough for Violet up forgive you."

"Aye, aye captain." Viktoria said sarcastically. "Is that what you’re wearing?"

"Yes, what’s wrong with it?" Rosa asked.

"A lot, come with me, I’ll fix you like Violet fixed me." Viktoria joked lightheartedly.

"Why would I leave Violet hear alone to go somewhere with you? That sounds sus." Rosa was very protective over Violet, especially with all the people that are going to be here later and all the extra staff.

"Violet, come with?" Viktoria asked, looking to solve the problem rather than fight over it.

"Of course, let me finish my accessories and I’ll come out to show you guys my outfit."

Viktoria had been anticipating this moment, seeing her friend’s birthday attire.

Violet walks out looks dazzling. Her dress innocent but somehow sexy.

Her dress was long reaching the floor, flowing in light waves. Her torso was tight hugging her curves. Her sleeves dropped off her shoulders and long black sleeve. The dress glowed on her like the the starry night sky and moonlight. Her hair decorated with braids adorned with silver and crystal star clips. Her make up was silver which only made her skin glow.

"Okay, I’m underdressed, you’re right Viktoria, here’s your chance to come through." Rosa jumped to the aid of Viktoria.

"You’re a lot curvier than me, but I heard Ms. Kim is good at tailoring. So should be able to find something and make it work." Viktoria said confidently. Fashion was her area of excellence.

Viktoria led them to her room. As they walked down the steps, people who were once busy with their work stopped dead in their tracks to gaze upon the delight that is Violet.

"I don’t like those stares they’re giving her." Viktoria whispered to Rosa.

"I’ll break the bastards if they try anything." Rosa responded.

"I like you, I hope we can be fiends." Viktoria stated.

"Yeah, probably not. I don’t forgive easily, and I definitely don’t forget." Rosa answered sternly.

Viktoria pausing was worried about saying something else wrong and causing to dig a deeper hole.

Rosa seeing Viktoria’s moment of sadness, Rosa feels slightly moved. Violet’s been rubbing off on her lately with all this extra love "wanting to get in my good graces will take a lot of effort on your part, you sure you’re up to the task?
