The Guide is Actually a Body-Switching Esper [BL]-Chapter 307: Nothing Much?
Chapter 307: Nothing Much?
When Damien and Ethan finally left the private guiding room a few minutes later, Lane was pacing nervously in front of the door, his ear hurting a bit from pressing it against the door too hard. He had listened to the whole thing, right to the moment when he had heard them get up from their seats and walk to the door...
And it had been an absolute torture. Lane had barely been able to restrain himself from obliterating the door to break in, after hearing what Ethan had been spouting...
The audacity of that man was unreal!
The door opened, and Damien stepped out. Lane immediately paused in his steps, turning toward him to meet his eyes, and asked,
"What did you talk about?"
And Damien... averted his eyes. "Nothing much," he just said. "It was just a guiding session."
Lane’s eyes twitched, as everything boiled inside of him.
’Nothing much’? How could Ethan extending such indecent proposals to Damien be considered ’nothing much’?
"Oh, is that so?" he muttered through clenched teeth, his tone dark and strained from barely suppressed anger.
Damien must have realized that something was wrong (which wasn’t difficult, honestly, as Lane wasn’t trying to hide it all that hard!), because he made a step toward Lane, reaching out his hand...
But then.
"Team Leader, it’s five to eleven already," Ethan cut in, gesturing at the clock with his head. "We should head to the meeting point."
Damien glanced at the clock as well. Ethan... had a point. Although he had already messaged Hallie, who was his Vice Leader, asking her to pick up the keys to the minibuses, so he didn’t have to stop by the office himself... He was still late, according to his standards. He always aimed to be there AT LEAST ten minutes before the scheduled time, and now, he would barely make it on time...
Perhaps it was a mistake to have this guiding session with Ethan. Of course, it had to happen sooner or later... The problem was that the timing was terrible. First, the near-perfect result of his compatibility test with Ethan, then the guiding session in the private guiding room... Although Damien had no idea that Lane had managed to successfully eavesdrop on their conversation, it was clear that the man was greatly disturbed by the situation! And now, Damien had to leave, and they wouldn’t be able to see each other until the evening!
There was nothing he could do, though. No matter how much he wanted to, he couldn’t just ask his team to wait while he tried to pacify his sulking boyfriend!
"We’ll talk at home, okay?" he just said with a heavy sigh. "Are you going back now?"
Lane remained silent for a moment, just staring at Damien intensely. Originally, he was planning to go back home after the test, to avoid repeating the previous day’s disaster...
But now he didn’t feel like it anymore. After what he had heard, he really needed to blow some steam (by causing another bloodbath in some dungeon, preferably)!
Guessing that the silence meant ’no’, Damien sighed again. "I should be home by eight," he said, and turned around to leave. The minute hand of the clock hanging in the corridor almost reached the ’12’ on top... It was truly getting too late. He couldn’t waste his subordinates’ time, he really had to go...
Before he took more than a few steps toward the elevators, his wrist was suddenly captured, and he was pulled back. He didn’t even have much of a chance to react, as by the time his mind processed things, Lane had already smashed his lips onto his.
Between the two of them, Lane was faster, by far. He was an agility type SS-ranker, after all, while Damien was a strength-based S-ranker...
Damien didn’t fight it. Although he was in a rush, he had a feeling that pushing Lane away right now... would be about the worst thing he could possibly do, regardless of his reasons. So, ignoring the fact that he was late for a moment, or that they were in the hallway of the Guiding Center, or that Ethan was just a few feet away from them (which was perhaps a good thing, actually. While Damien was embarrassed, being seen making out in public, considering what the Guide had spouted just a moment ago, it was a good idea to remind him that Damien was a taken man. Which was probably why Lane did it in the first place), he returned the kiss.
It didn’t last too long, anyway. It was intense, but short. Just a minute or so later, Lane pulled back, biting on Damien’s bottom lip as they parted...
Perhaps a bit too hard, because a thin streak of blood trickled down Damien’s chin.
The metallic taste of blood seemed to have finally snap Lane out of it, at least a bit. He blinked, his grey eyes lowering to take a look at Damien’s lips...
"Ah, sorry," he muttered, lifting his hand to wipe off the blood with his thumb. It still left a smudge, though... So, he leaned closer once again, and fixed it by licking it off.
"There, should be good now," he said, finally letting go of Damien. His face was still dark, but he seemed a bit calmer now...
Just a little bit, though. When his gaze fell on Ethan, standing not far behind Damien and looking at them, his facial features twisted in a scowl, as everything boiled within him once again...
"I really need to go now," Damien said, his voice a little tired. The minute hand had already passed ’12’, and even his phone pinged. Probably a message from Hallie, as he was now officially late.
"...Mn." Lane nodded his head, albeit unwillingly. "See you at home, then."
Damien returned the nod, and quickly headed toward the underground parking garages, although not without glancing back over his shoulder at Lane. He still felt uneasy... But it’s not like he could skip work just because his boyfriend was displeased!
