The Invincible Full-Moon System-Chapter 1544: Stronger Transformation (2)
Mira could feel her lower jaw recovering rapidly.
In a few seconds, she was brand new again.
Once she found her voice, she looked up at Rex, still holding back the pain from the transformation that was taking hold of her body. It wouldn't take long until she couldn't hold the transformation back, and she knows it.
Inhaling deeply through her nose, she tried to keep her composure.
"What do you mean by under you?" She asked through gritted teeth. "Do I become your slave?"
"I want to say no, but to be honest, you would be a slave if I wanted to. I am sort of the Original, and if you gained my power, you would have no choice but to obey me," Rex answered truthfully—he knew that the System made sure pack members are loyal, so in a way, she would be a slave. "But like I said, I'm not like that. I'm not a bad person."
"Even so, what's stopping you from telling me to betray my own house?" Mira asked again.
Upon hearing this, Rex paused; he didn't instantly answer that question.
Not because he didn't know how to answer that question, but because of another notification.
<Notice: Mira is losing mental power—the user can now force the transformation.>
Force the transformation? Is there any side effect?
<Yes. Forcing transformation will always result in a True Werewolf.>
Rex frowned when he read this.
True Werewolf…?
<A True Werewolf is a Werewolf that is trapped in a perpetual rage despite their Inner Fang. Only a few have this rare constitution where the Lunirich Gods' powers and the True Luna's sacrifice couldn't change its true nature—a monster of rage.>
Huh… Isn't that basically the same as that Sven Werewolf?
Back after he defeated Prince Leif, he heard about Sven.
It was said that he's always devoured by rage, and couldn't talk normally like other Werewolves.
Regardless, he couldn't afford to let Mira turn out like that.
He needed her to be able to think so that she could help him in investigating Princess Davina and learn more about her. Having her become a True Werewolf, trapped in a state of perpetual rage, would make his attempt to turn her useless.
Then again, seeing how fearful Mira is about the prospect of turning to a Voidal Monster, this is good.
Using this fact against her would make her crumble faster.
"As for that, you'll have to trust me," Rex shrugged nonchalantly. "It's not like you have a choice."
"If that's the case, why talk to me?" Mira argued. "Why didn't you forcefully turn me?"
Upon hearing this, Rex smirked inside.
She was playing right into his hands, but he wasn't complaining.
"Because if I forced you, then your mind would break—and you'll become mindless monsters. I don't want that," Rex shook his head, pretending not to realize how pale Mira was when she heard this. "After all, I already said to you earlier. I need you. It's not my plan to use you—but since you found out about me, I can't let you go."
"So, what's it going to be, Lady Mira of the Ravencort House?" Rex asked. "Yes or no?"
Even before she answered, Rex already knew her answer.
It was written all over her face.
Rex didn't act forceful or be domineering, and that's the perfect approach for a noblewoman like her.
Showing a sign of respect would make her inclined to respect him too.
Having to live with April for ten years, I learned that much.
"Okay," Mira nodded and looked up at Rex. "But before anything, will you at least promise me that you won't force me to do anything that I would hate? Attacking my house, my family, my friends, or anything I cared for? It's not much in this dark world, but a man's word still means something, right? Even for a barbarian like you?"
Upon hearing this, Rex's expression twitched.
How can he be called a barbarian?
But he replied anyway, "Yes, it still meant something. And I promise to not make you do any of that."
Once he said that, Rex took a couple of steps backward.
He gave Mira a nod, signaling her to let go.
Mira looked down, breathing in and out from her nose to prepare herself before she finally let go.
Crack!
"Kraargghh!"
Once again, she screamed as her spine elongated as before.
Then, her other skeletal bones grew denser and longer, becoming as hard as a rock before her muscles began to twist and condense. It felt like all the pain in the whole world was thrown onto her, like she was being crushed from the inside to be reborn.
Rex made transforming look easy and not that painful, when in reality, it wasn't.
Even now, every time he turned, the pain remained at the same level.
All that got better over time was the speed at how long the transformation happened.
Mire screamed even louder as the backside of her spine burst out of her body, spurting blood everywhere like a fountain. She reached out her hands, clawing the ground hard until her fingernails broke, trying to reach for anything that might be able to lessen the pain.
Soon, her fingernails regrew, sharper now like steel.
A simple push, and her claws stabbed through the ground like butter, showing how sharp they had become.
Looking around, Rex saw the knights were recovering from the ritual.
Despite still feeling fuzzy, they were able to stand on their feet again.
Upon hearing Mira's scream, all of them snapped their heads in sync.
As the knights who were tasked to accompany Mira—they were worried that something bad would happen to her, which would be instant execution for them. It was their duty to sacrifice their lives to protect the lady, so surviving without the lady is not an option.
However, once they saw what was happening to her, all of them unconsciously held their breaths.
At this point, Mira doesn't look remotely like her normal self anymore.
She was bigger, more muscular, and began to be covered by furs, appearing like an actual monster.
Or at least, transforming into a monster.
Even in the Spirit Realm, the appearance of a Werewolf still struck terror into the hearts.
Seeing how Mira was twisting on the ground, screaming at the top of her lungs while clawing everything that her monster hands could reach, the knights were stunned beyond measure. All of them knew that it was really Mira, the torn shreds of her clothes that still clung to her body showed that clearly.
None of them knew what was happening to her.
However, the knights at least knew who caused this as their eyes fixated on Rex.
"Ah…" Rex scratched the back of his head as he saw the knights. "I guess I can't let them live."
Pivoting away from Mira, he approached the other knights slowly.
Unlike earlier when he assumed the stance of a lowly peasant—who wanted nothing more than a spare of fortune—he now assumed a more monstrous air. His intent was clear even before he made his move, and it wouldn't end with anything but blood.
Then, with a haunting but calm voice, he uttered a command, "Stay where you are…"
Swish!
As if his command was the law, the knights were rooted to their spots.
Rex didn't even need to run or sprint.
None of them were able to unsheathe their weapons and attack, paralyzed completely.
He approached calmly and steadily, summoning his Red Dawn of Kaiser, which was the Soul Artifact he was going to use to kill these knights. And once he reached them, he simply slit their throats with a finger, leaving behind a deep gash that cuts both carotid artery and jugular vein.
Not even their thick armor stood a chance against the Red Dawn of Kaiser.
In mere seconds, those who got slitted bled rapidly and lost vitality on their skin color.
It wasn't a painless death, and it wasn't a painful death either.
Nevertheless, Rex killed the knights one by one without any remorse.
As he slitted another, his eyes settled on the last knight, who was the knight he had talked with earlier.
Rex's eyes narrowed before he leaned his head back and turned to face the knight.
Seeing Rex's crimson eyes locked onto him, the knight felt his throat dry up instantly.
In the blink of an eye, the knight's eyes trembled in horror when Rex already reached him with a step.
"Since you've given me quite useful information, I'll give you a swift one," Rex whispered as he raised his claws, ready to decapitate the knight cleanly with one powerful swing. "No need to be afraid, you'll not even feel it."
Just as he was about to swing, the knight stiffly shook his head.
He wanted to say something, but it was hard to find his voice in this kind of situation.
But when death's hand was already brushing against his skin, his instinct immediately kicked in as his voice came back to him, "Please, please, please! Don't kill me! I won't say a single thing about this to anyone, I swear!"
Upon hearing this, Rex raised an eyebrow, "And why would I trust you?"
"E-Emm… Emm…" The knight stammered, mind racing for an excuse as he knew that his answer to this question would determine whether he would live or die. "I… I can reinforce Lady Mira's alibi! And I can help her back home! Someone needs to know the truth—so that someone could help her if things go wrong!"
Rex stared at the knight's eyes for a couple of seconds, claws still raised.
He contemplated the answer.
Each second felt like an eternity for the knight, knowing that he could die any second now.
Fortunately for him, Rex retracted his Soul Artifact and straightened his posture.
"So you listened to my conversation," Rex muttered whisperingly. "What's your name?"
"Roderick…" The knight, Roderick, answered as quickly as possible. "My name is Roderick."
Nodding in acknowledgment, Rex reached out his hand, "Give me your hand, Roderick."
Upon hearing this, Roderick could feel the invisible binding that latched onto him disappear, allowing him to move again. As commanded, he gave Rex his hand before he pulled it back quickly when he felt a sting.
In his palm, there was a mark shaped like an eye with a vertical line cutting through its iris.
A rune.
"I will accept your offer, Roderick," Rex said, his voice steady, offering the knight a moment of relief. "But understand this—if I ever decide you've betrayed me or proved yourself unreliable, I will use that mark to turn you into a monster and let you loose in a rampage. Don't disappoint me."
Despite his shock, making him look at the rune for the second time, Roderick nodded his head.
He would be forced to comply with Rex's agenda, but at least he gets to keep his life.
Rex smiled inside when he saw Roderick nodding in compliance.
Of course, there's no such thing. It's only an Unclouded Rune that costs 1,000 gold.
No such thing as a rune that would turn Roderick into a monster, it was a lie.
Instead, the rune Rex branded on him was the Unclouded Rune that would help him stay steady amidst the chaos. It provided enhanced awareness, calms intrusive thoughts, and grants the ability to focus, even amidst sensory overload.
Roderick would need it to help Mira.
"Wait here," Rex said, pointing at his spot. "Lady Mira will finish soon."
Glancing over his shoulder, Rex noticed that Mira wasn't writhing and screaming anymore.
She was now lying on the ground, facing the dark sky—her chest heaved up and down exhaustedly.
<Notice: Please brand Mira with the Silverstar Mark to finish the transformation process.>
Upon reading the notification, Rex nodded and went back to check on Mira.
Once he stood beside her, meeting her tired, hollow gaze, Rex crouched down and looked her over.
Through his eyes, he offered silent congratulations for enduring the transformation.
Then, he tilted his head slightly, studying her anew, and reached out his hand.
"Don't touch me with your dirty peasant hand," Mira said breathlessly.
Rex chuckled at her comment, "I'm not a dirty peasant anymore. Now, I'm your Alpha, and you'll do well to acknowledge me for your own sake."
