The Knight's Mysterious Maid-Chapter 501: Epilogue
Chapter 501: Epilogue
"Is the bride ready?"
"Is Annalise ready?"
"Can we start?"
"It sounds like they are losing their minds out there and the wedding has not started yet. Do you want me to tell them to be quiet?" Siena asked as she feared all the commotion outside might start to make Annalise feel nervous. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
"No. They will just go back to being worried about me. They just want the wedding to go perfectly and I don’t want to talk to anyone panicking right now. Is anyone starting to take their seats?" Annalise asked, relying on Siena because she had not looked outside since she woke up.
She was woken up early in the morning by Siena and Cara to start getting her hair done. Then came Heidi and Giselle to help as her mother and Beatrice were busy overseeing everything.
Siena walked to the window to look out at where the wedding was being held in the middle of the town. "There are many seated already and some are walking around. It’s still some time for everyone to get seated. Giselle and Heidi should soon be finished with getting Lydia dressed."
"And what about Rue?" Annalise asked.
"I believe Cara left to help your mother get her dressed. Everything is being taken care of so you do not need to worry. Rafael is already dressed and greeting the guests. He looks extra handsome today," Siena said, finding everything about the wedding to be perfect.
"That is good to know. For your wedding to Logan, I will be helping you just as you have helped me. We are lucky to have my mother and Beatrice so crazy about planning weddings," Annalise said as the two were excited to plan Siena’s wedding.
It was nearing a year since Annalise had gotten engaged to Rafael and the time had come for the wedding. Most of the guests were people from the border and the knights as they were the ones close to her and Rafael.
It was a big celebration as many were attending.
Annalise had one group of people she did not want to see. "Has the court arrived with the king? Please keep the court away from me. I might spill blood on my wedding day if they come near me."
"Should I check if they have arrived? Rafael did say the king’s arrival would be late and his departure would be quick since the queen was left to look after the palace and their son," Siena said, recalling everything said to her this morning.
A knock on the door put their conversation to a pause.
Siena walked to the door to open it so Annalise wouldn’t need to move and somehow dirty her pretty white dress.
"Hi. We came to say hello," said the Duchess Alessandra Collins. She entered the room after Siena made way for her and behind her was her husband Duke Edgar who was holding their son Elijah Collins.
"I am also here," Tobias said, entering the bedroom. He carried two scrolls in his hands which were the official truce documents Annalise needed to sign. She would keep one here and he would take the other. "We have to be quick to go to Rafael."
Annalise stood up to greet the king and Collins. "It’s a pleasure to have the four of you here. Thank you for coming here, King Tobias. It must have been hard for you to leave the queen and your son behind."
"It is why I cannot stay for long to enjoy the celebration after the wedding. Please forgive me." Tobias apologised as it was rude he would have to be in a hurry to leave. "Where is the little Rue that I am yet to meet? How is it that Rafael ended up having two daughters? I pictured him with sons."
"That is out of my control," Annalise answered.
They welcomed the arrival of their daughter Rue less than two months ago. Rafael joked that he might end up with many daughters and he didn’t mind it. They had started to make a bet about what the third child would be when she would be pregnant again.
"I finally got to meet the young Elijah Collins. When Rue is a little older, I will gladly travel to meet the young prince," Annalise said as Rafael had been speaking of seeing the babies. He had only got to meet Elijah because of the duke and duchess travelling around.
Tobias looked at Elijah who might be competition. "If you ever have to pick who gets to marry Rue in the future, put my son first."
Edgar wanted nothing more than to smack Tobias for once again mentioning marriages in the future for babies who didn’t know what marriage was. "You are a beautiful bride, Annalise. We will be going down to greet Rafael and take our seats. Alessandra is a bit impatient to meet Rue so we must hurry to see her."
"She might be with my mother or with my friend Cara. Once you see Lydia, you will see Rue," Annalise answered.
"Before I go, please sign the truce. I don’t want to disturb you and Rafael after the wedding. I don’t want to deal with that tall bastard when he is impatient," Tobias said as he walked to Annalise. He opened up the papers and placed them before Annalise for her to sign with a pen he had. "The town is coming along well. You have my court failing to find a flaw to point out."
"We made sure to overlook everything so no one can point out something wrong. There’s already a small court here with people from the Castro kingdom and the border working inside. One day when you have time, I hope you and the queen will come explore the new town. There," Annalise said, finished with signing her name.
Now there was officially peace and the war was over. There hadn’t been any attacks since the time she went to the palace with Rafael the first time to speak about the truce, but now should anyone disturb the newfound peace, there was a truce that detailed punishments for each side not keeping their promise or anyone bold enough to try starting a war again.
"This one is for you to put in a safe place. Now that this is over, I will go down before my guards come in. Congratulations on your marriage, Annalise. I wish you and my friend a lifetime of happiness," Tobias said, truly happy for the two.
It was good to see all his friends slowly settle down and join him in starting families.
"Thank you," Annalise replied.
"I will put this away for you," Siena said, taking the truce from Annalise.
"Annalise? Annalise, you need to go down to start taking your place to walk with your father," Celine said, entering the room in a hurry as they were going to be behind time if everyone didn’t start moving. "Oh, you look so beautiful. Like a princess. I cannot cry now."
’Please do not cry, mother. Then Siena will cry and I might join in," Annalise said, hoping no tears would start flowing now. They had gone through all of the wedding planning without crying and now was not the time to start.
Annalise stood up and straightened out her dress. This was the only dress that she had no intention of cutting because it limited her movement. For once, she enjoyed how she was dolled up. After the wedding, she would get dressed like this again and have a portrait made.
Siena handed Annalise her flowers and almost laughed at Annalise’s suggestion in the past to walk with a knife instead of flowers. She went behind Annalise to hold her dress to make it easier to go down to where Phillip was waiting for her.
It took them a few minutes to make it down the stairs as Annalise had to be careful with each step.
"Please get to your seats, everyone. The wedding has to start now while there is plenty of light in the sky. Annalise," Celine turned to her daughter and touched her shoulder. "I am going to take my seat and take the children from Cara. You’ll walk with your father from here. I’m happy for you," she said, kissing Annalise’s cheek after.
"I will join you," Siena said, letting go of Annalise’s dress so she could find her seat.
Annalise bid goodbye to the two and then carefully walked to the door where Phillip was waiting for her. "Please do not tell me that you are about to cry too, father? All of you are making it hard for me to not cry today."
"My beloved daughter is getting married. It is worth shedding a tear or two. I will try to hold it in so you don’t cry and ruin your pretty face. Rafael is lucky,’ Phillip said, offering his arm for Annalise to hold as she walked.
"You have told him this every day since he moved to the border. I am also lucky to have a man who treats me well. Please remember that he is the father of your grandchildren," Annalise said as her father was still a bit petty with the things he said to her children in secret.
Lydia would tell her about other’s secrets so she knew what her father was saying.
"Hmm," Phillip replied. "The music is starting to play. They need to get to their seats quickly before your mother and Beatrice attack."
"The two of them together are scary," Annalise said, laughing at the monsters they created.
Today was not a day for anyone to make jokes and not be where they were meant to be as Beatrice and Celine had no time for jokes. You might end up tossed out of the wedding.
After a few minutes of waiting, the doors before Annalise and Phillip slowly opened allowing her to see Rafael waiting for her beside the priest and all the guests starting to stand up as the music for her entrance played.
"Ready?" Phillip asked, looking down at Annalise.
"I am more than ready," Annalise answered, eager to marry the man waiting for her.
