The Monster King's Legacy-Chapter 220: A Mighty Force
The horizon darkened, not from the setting sun, but from a shadow, one so immense it swallowed the light itself.
The Titan stood in the middle of the ocean, its immense form towering above the waves. The water, deep and endless, barely reached its thighs, and its head disappeared into the clouds.
Its body was composed of jagged stone and glistening crystalline streaks that pulsed with energy. Each movement sent ripples across the ocean, every step causing the ocean to churn violently.
"This…" Lance began, his voice trailing off.
"It's a colossus," elder Thoryx said, his tone filled with reverence and dread. "The largest and most powerful of the Titans."
The dragons halted their flight, hovering above the turbulent waters. The colossus turned its head toward them, its glowing eyes like twin suns piercing the clouds.
"We can't go around it," the silver-haired elder said, his voice tight. "It's too close to the sacred land from here. If we leave it unchecked, it will follow us and wreak untold destruction."
They all remained silent for a moment, weighing the obstacle before them, when Kaelthara said. "I'll handle this," she said firmly.
The others turned to her in shock.
"You can't be serious," the auburn-haired elder said. "This isn't just any Titan."
Kaelthara sighed, waving it off. "I'm aware. That's why you need to keep going. The sacred land is more important than this fight. If the Titans reach it, nothing else will matter."
Aelyndra hesitated. "Mother…"
Kaelthara ushered them off, "Come on now, there's no point in you all staying here, you'll only hold me back instead of helping." She said, almost flatly.
The dragon elders exchanged glances but ultimately nodded.
"We'll leave it to you, Kaelthara," elder Thoryx said, his voice heavy with respect.
Kaelthara turned to Lance, her massive form lowering slightly to meet his gaze. "Protect her, Lance."
Lance, though reluctant, nodded. "Don't hold back."
Kaelthara smirked faintly. "Yes, whatever, just get going already."
With that, the group soared away, leaving Kaelthara alone with the colossus.
The colossus let out a deep, resonating roar, the sound so powerful that it sent waves crashing in every direction. The force from it destabilized two of the elders and Aelyndra a bit, but Kaelthara hovered in the air, her massive wings keeping her steady against the storm.
"You're big," she muttered, her voice dripping with defiance. "But I've fought bigger."
The colossus raised one arm, its movement slow but deliberate. The air around its arm shimmered with energy, and the ocean below churned violently. It attempted to stop those advancing, but in response, Kaelthara dove toward the colossus, her claws extended and her eyes blazing with fury, slashing at its hand, surprisingly for everyone, destabilizing the Titan a bit, drawing its full attention.
The impact from the collision with the colossus created a shockwave that rippled across the ocean, sending waves crashing into distant shores. The water below seemed to boil as their battle began.
The colossus swung its massive arm, but Kaelthara evaded with breathtaking speed, her enormous body weaving through the air like a predator stalking its prey. She struck with her claws, tearing through the Titan's crystal-like body, sending huge shards flying into the ocean like huge boulders.
The colossus retaliated, slamming its hand into the water and creating a whirlpool that threatened to drag Kaelthara under. But she roared defiantly, unleashing a torrent of fire so intense it turned the water around her to steam.
Their battle raged on, each blow shaking the entire ocean and earth. Hurricanes formed around them, certain to cause serious chaos in whatever shore they crash at.
…
Far ahead, Lance and the others flew with renewed urgency, the echoes of Kaelthara's battle fading into the distance.
"She'll be fine," Aelyndra said, though her voice was tight with worry.
"She's stronger than all of us," the silver-haired elder said. "If anyone can stop that colossus, it's her."
Lance's gaze remained fixed on the horizon. "I believe in her, that thing should hardly be a threat for her."
…
The ocean churned violently as Kaelthara hovered before the massive colossus Titan. Her colossal dragon form, glowing with an intense golden aura, now dwarfed the oceanic expanse, her size a bit above half that of the Titan she faced.
The Titan loomed over her, its body shimmering with raw energy and its massive frame splitting the horizon. Every movement it made sent waves rippling across the seas, but Kaelthara's presence seemed to distort reality itself, making the Titan's existential effects seem almost like Child's play compared to her.
"Enough play for now," Kaelthara growled in a low rumble, her voice shaking the very space like hundreds of vibrations through space.
The colossus struck first, its massive arm swinging down with such force that the clouds above parted for miles, leaving the sky comically split and clear. The ocean beneath them split in two, exposing the seabed as the Titan's strike carved a deep trench into the earth on impact.
The sheer force of the attack sent shockwaves rippling outward, creating tsunamis that rose a few hundred metres and raced toward distant shores.
Kaelthara didn't flinch. She met the attack head-on, her massive wings bracing her as she absorbed the blow. The impact sent a deafening boom across the air for miles afar, but when the things settled, she stood unscathed and unmoved, the titan's arm bouncing off.
"My turn," Kaelthara said, her voice dripping with confidence.
Kaelthara launched high into the skies, almost reaching beyond the earth as she looked down on her prey. Opening her mouth, it was filled with the prelude to a devastating attack, her maw ignited with draconic flames, their heat so intense that the surrounding atmosphere for hundred of miles dried instantly.
Unleashing the fire, her strike was aimed at the Titan's head. The fire from her fell like a solid mass od detruction on her enemy who could do nothing but watch as it approached. The impact created a blinding explosion of light and heat, vaporizing the clouds above and leaving the sky a featureless void. The air crackled with energy as the colossus staggered, its head melted into a molten lake.
Kaelthara didn't stop there. She reared back, her body glowing brightly as she summoned more strength. Her second attack, a concentrated blast of fire from her maw, struck the Titan.
The sheer heat of her flames caused half the ocean to evaporate in an instant, the water vanishing in massive clouds of steam. Aquatic life in the surrounding area perished instantly, their forms disintegrating in the extreme temperatures.
The Titan's body crumbled under the assault, leaving only its legs intact from the shins below. The remaining fragments melted as liquid lava, and the rest collapsed into the ocean, sending massive waves cascading outward.
As the steam cleared, Kaelthara hovered above the battlefield, her massive form a massive dark shadow.
With a graceful motion, Kaelthara began to condense, her colossal body shrinking into her normal dragon form as she surveyed the devastation.
Despite the intensity of the battle, she appeared unfazed, her breathing steady and her expression calm, not even a faint glimmer of exhaustion in her eyes hinting at the immense power she had just unleashed.
"If this is their best, they'll need much more to threaten us." She said softly, her voice carrying over the silent battlefield.
Kaelthara glanced at the horizon, where Lance, Aelyndra, and the dragon elders were continuing their journey to the sacred land. Her gaze softened briefly before hardening again.
"I can't really say this bought them much time."
