The Omega Is Pregnant-Chapter 105
"‘This must be it.’"
I figured I shouldn't let Kang Se-heon find out about my past with Kang In-hyuk. So, I thought they expected me to take their offered hand if they dangled a little threat. People usually want to hide their pasts.
Despite Kang Se-heon knowing everything already.
"Do you like him because he's Kang Se-heon?"
"What? Oh, of course Kang Se-heon is better than Kang In-hyuk."
Tae-seo nearly laughed at his honest answer but restrained himself.
They keep bringing up the successor issue; they must prefer things going well with Kang Se-heon.
"What's so good about friends? This is what friends are for. Supporting and helping each other move forward, right?"
Now that I know what they're after and their true motives, there's no need to fit in anymore.
"They're saying they're my friends?"
"It was hard to mingle in school because we had different classes, but you don't have to be in the same class to be friends."
"Do you want to maintain this relationship for a long time?"
"There’s no need to say something new, just that since we met here, let's become closer."
They seem pleased that things are moving as they wanted. Tae-seo, having clarified the situation, blurted out,
"But my friend is Park Han-soon."
The type who approaches first, speaks out of turn, gets scolded, and is annoyingly persistent, yet still considered a friend.
"Who said I'm not friends with Park Han-soon?"
Hyun-seong was momentarily confused, then smiled and said,
"Think about it. Isn't it good for our parents if we get along? For a bright future, let's get along well from now on... Why are you like this?"
Hyun-seong, who kept talking to involve Tae-seo, frowned when someone else poked his arm as if to stop him.
"What are you doing..."
His voice trailed off as he noticed something. Seeing Hyun-seong's eyes tremble, Tae-seo straightened his back from the chair.
A familiar and warm presence pushed away Hyun-seong's arm and took over Tae-seo's shoulder, washing away the remaining discomfort. Looking down at the hand, Tae-seo lifted the corners of his mouth. The reason he didn’t turn to those who looked bewildered was because he was sure it was Kang Se-heon.
"There's no place for me to sit..."
Kang Se-heon's comment made the men glance around. The seats around Tae-seo were all taken, and no one ◆ Nоvеlіgһt ◆ (Only on Nоvеlіgһt) dared to get up and move away from Kang Se-heon and Tae-seo.
The loser of this silent battle was Hyun-seong, who had been babbling until just now. It wasn't a friendship of equals. So, it had to be the lowest one who gets up.
As Hyun-seong reluctantly stood up, Tae-seo also got up, and when their eyes met, Hyun-seong blinked stupidly.
"I'll move, so you stay here. Thanks for coming to the presentation."
Tae-seo made eye contact with each of them, greeting them warmly. The men responded belatedly to his affable demeanor.
"Are you leaving? You can stay here..."
"No, I want to be alone with him."
As Tae-seo turned around, Kang Se-heon also turned his body towards them. The men belatedly realized that they had missed their chance to greet Kang Se-heon.
"Who is he?"
"He's a university classmate who came on behalf of his parents."
"Don't you know his name?"
"Who is he...?"
As Tae-seo's voice became inaudible with distance, the men hesitantly lifted themselves from their seats, then sat back down. They couldn’t tell if they had been played by Yoon Tae-seo or not.
Tae-seo led Kang Se-heon to a secluded spot and sat next to him.
"Why were you with someone you're not even close with?"
When Kang Se-heon asked for the name, Tae-seo whispered back, "I don't know."
"He was bringing up my past."
"Your past?"
"The past where Yoon Tae-seo followed Kang In-hyuk."
Tae-seo answered while sipping non-alcoholic champagne. Coming over with that excuse... Honestly, wouldn't it have been better if he had just come to say hello?
Drinking the bitter champagne, Kang Se-heon changed the subject.
"I heard from the CEO before coming in. Is this your first time stepping up as the hotel heir?"
Just then, a staff member approached and poured more champagne into Kang Se-heon's empty glass, which he then held up close to Tae-seo's glass.
"Should we toast to that?"
"I haven't accomplished anything yet. But still, let's clink glasses..."
Tae-seo playfully accepted the congratulations.
"I told my parents I'd think about it. So, keep that in mind."
"You're not passing it on to me, are you?"
Tae-seo drank his champagne as if to say, 'think what you will.' After all, it was something to discuss with Kang Se-heon.
"It seems you're interested, considering you invited me here..."
Kang Se-heon murmured seriously, and though Tae-seo heard, he pretended not to. Because there was no need to verbally confirm it.
"It seems about time to start."
Tae-seo looked around, and soon the bright lights dimmed one by one. Leaving only minimal lighting, the beam of light faintly illuminated Kang Se-heon's face.
"It's still bright."
My brother needs to sleep.
Tae-seo gazed intently at Kang Se-heon’s face then stretched out his arms. He pulled him in so that his head could rest in his lap.
"Close your eyes. You must be tired; a little nap will do you good."
Some of the nearby onlookers turned to look, prompting Tae-seo to embrace him even tighter. Like the others who had approached him to be friends earlier, he didn't know if other people would show interest.
That would keep Kang Se-heon from resting, so he hugged and patted him protectively.
"Lullaby, lullaby, sleep well, my brother."
From the trembling of Kang Se-heon's body in his arms, Tae-seo could tell he was smiling.
Tae-seo whispered to him, lowering his head.
"I didn't come because I was interested. I came to put you to sleep."
So, go to sleep.
Tae-seo patted Kang Se-heon’s back. At that moment, neither the affairs of KH nor how they would conclude their marriage mattered.
"Good evening. I am the host of today's presentation..."
The presenter who came forward had a pleasant voice and spoke softly, just as his mother had described.
****
"Where's the wedding invitation?"
"That..."
Park Han-soo gestured for him to hand it over, prompting Tae-seo to stall as he sipped his drink.
"I've postponed it."
"What do you mean by that?"
"I've... postponed the wedding."
"What?"
Park Han-soo, who had raised his voice unwittingly, remembered they were in a café and lowered his body again. His exaggerated movements to lower his voice were more noticeable, and he seemed unaware of it.
"Why postpone it?"
"You know how busy he is. We haven't even taken our wedding photos yet."
If it were just about sending out invitations and having the ceremony, Tae-seo might have asked Kang Se-heon to spare just one day.
"I didn’t realize a wedding required so much preparation."
Tae-seo spread his fingers and gently touched his ring finger.
"It’s not just about slipping a ring on this finger and saying, ‘let’s get married.' It doesn’t end there."
Pre-wedding photos needed to be taken in advance to display at the venue, and then there were the arrangements for the reception, the guest list... There was a lot to decide, and each was a task in itself.
"Your parents are helping a lot, aren’t they?"
"That’s true, but I can’t leave everything to them."
"Well, since you haven’t sent out the invitations yet, it doesn’t matter..."
Park Han-soo's gaze drifted downwards to Tae-seo’s stomach. Noticing the look, Tae-seo shrugged.
"We've decided to do it after Blessing is born. But we’ll proceed very slowly and carefully. I’ll send you an invitation then."
Tae-seo added with a grin, which seemed odd to Park Han-soo, who grumbled.
"Why are you smiling when you’ve postponed the wedding?"
"I’m happy thinking about getting married in front of Blessing."
If they did it now, Blessing would be in his arms at the ceremony, but if they postponed it, they could marry in front of a toddling Blessing.
"You’ve thought that far ahead."
Park Han-soo muttered something dismissive and then casually changed the subject.
"Can I hold Blessing too?"
"...I don’t think you’ll get your turn that easily."
There had been a split of opinion on who would hold Blessing from the moment they had announced the postponement of the wedding. The interest in this was even greater than the decision to postpone the wedding date, to Tae-seo’s surprise.
"No, the parents will be at the head table."
"Yes. But there’s someone even more formidable."
Someone had declared they wouldn't be at the head table and insisted they would hold Blessing.
"Can’t believe how cute they find a baby that hasn’t even been born yet..."
Park Han-soo murmured, unable to understand, forgetting he too had expressed a desire to hold the baby.
"I'm hungry."
After finishing his drink, Tae-seo got up, and Park Han-soo looked up at him bewilderedly.
"You've just arrived at the café. You've eaten cake and scones."
"My appetite’s explosive these days. Let’s go eat."
"What do you want to eat?"
"Pizza."
"...We just had bread. Can’t we have something balanced like Korean food?"
"We're going to eat."
"What?"
Park Han-soo quickly grabbed his phone from the table and hurried after Tae-seo.
A man who seemed to have been watching Park Han-soo and Tae-seo from a short distance stood up. He moved towards the seat Tae-seo had just vacated, his lips under a black hat twisting slowly.
"I didn’t expect this."
Seo Da-rae's low voice soon got drowned out by the music playing in the store.
