The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife-Chapter 26 - Not admitting it.
Chapter 26: Chapter 26 - Not admitting it.
"Robin, what do you mean by that? If you are going to see Zayla, I don’t think she would have arrived at the penthouse yet. The interview was completed just an hour ago," Daniel said seriously.
Robin ran his fingers through his hair and sighed frustratedly before sitting back in his chair. "I can’t wait for so long to confront Zayla. I have to call her."
This news was bad for his image but he didn’t care. It was rather disheartening that Sabrina would be facing so much shame from the media because of him. There were already mean comments under the video which he refused to read, for which reason he stopped watching the video halfway.
Before his hand reached his phone, Daniel asked,
"You said you needed information from the hospital?" He wanted to distract Robin from calling Zayla, which worked. To Daniel, matters like these should not be discussed on phone but rather in private.
Robin’s brows raised and he wondered how he forgot about it. Ever since he saw Sabrina at the hospital, he kept thinking about any hidden sickness she had which he did not know about.
"Yeah, it’s confidential but I want to know. I saw Sabrina at the hospital a day after her divorce when I took Zayla. I want to know what is ailing her. She seems to be hiding something and I won’t stop until I know what it is."
"You know that is illegal right?" Daniel asked seriously. Robin was unfazed. He could have done this himself but it was better to not pose as the one looking for the information. Should Sabrina find out, it would just be awkward.
"And I’m also willing to pay."
"But why do you want to know?" Daniel asked upon seeing the distorted look on Robin’s face.
"I will answer your question after you give me what I need. Secondly, I want to know everything about that boyfriend of hers." Bitterness laced the word ’boyfriend’ when he said it.
Daniel scoffed and sipped a glass of martini but Robin had not touched his vodka again. "Robin, are you jealous?" Daniel’s lips curled slightly, revealing a mocking grin. It was funny how he saw it but Robin kept denying it.
Whereas Robin was not understanding the strange things he felt when that word sounded weird to him. He pointed out, "Dan, what is the jealousy in being interested in her health record?"
"You forgot to add about the man beside her. I think he is the reason why I thought you were jealous but seeing these pictures, I doubt it," Daniel said and pushed his phone towards Robin. The latter checked and seeing the familiar backgrounds, his eyes squinted. He did not reach the photo part of the video so this seemed like a surprise to him.
’How did Zayla have these pictures taken?’ Robin analyzed in his mind while he pushed the phone back to Daniel, maintaining a calm expression in spite of his messed up thoughts.
"I will stop Zayla from spreading such false news but I have a feeling that the guy with Sabrina worked on the divorce papers for her and that was before we were officially divorced. If I find out that she cheated on me, I will make their lives a living hell."
Daniel was displeased by Robin’s Statement and did not hide it, knowing that he meant every word.
"Robin, you are going too far. You had a lot of women when you knew you were married and even got Zayla pregnant. Besides, the day I confronted them, the guy made me understand that he had been in love with Sabrina long before she got married to you. Something like, his long awaited girlfriend."
Robin’s fingers curled around the bottle of vodka, as he ranted his anger but did not take another gulp. He was keeping from being drunk when Sabrina was in the company of another man. His image in the face of his ex-wife seemed strangely important to him.
"Crap! He might fool you but not me. Sabrina knew about my weakness with women and still agreed to marry me so it’s no big deal but her relationship with that guy is questionable and I want to know everything there is to know about him."
He brought out his phone and dialed Zayla’s number. He took a deep breath when the line connected before asking. "Where are you?"
"Is there a problem?" Zayla asked from her side of the line innocently, excited about Robin calling her. She had a makeover done and thought that Robin must have seen her on tv for which reason he called to tell her how beautiful she looked.
"You did not answer my question," Robin said calmly, since Zayla was pregnant. At least he knew not to frustrate a pregnant woman.
"I’m almost at the penthouse, darling," Zayla revealed.
"I will see you in an hour," Robin said.
"Okay. I will stay up and wait for you."
Robin stepped out of the booth of the VIP lounge and bumped into a bevy of girls. Daniel followed him out of concern though he looked fine but the fact remained that he had drunk too much.
The girls’ hands were all over Robin and his mood brightened. He hadn’t had any release since his last night with Sabrina so this would be great but thinking about Sabrina, he subconsciously turned his head to where she sat.
She was laughing so hard there were tears in her eyes. Robin was disgruntled. What could a man say to a woman to make her laugh so much? This showed that he had not done his job well and Sabrina was happier away from him than their marital times.
"Excuse me," he said to the girls who looked dismayed by losing such an important customer while he walked away from them. Ambling to where the three sat. Robin took a seat beside them uninvited.
"Dude, what do you want?" Devin had a scowl on his face when he asked. Robin grinned, making them uncomfortable as he demanded,
"I want to know how long you two have known each other and I’m not leaving without answers."
