The Princess and Her Rough-Rider Khan-Chapter 685 - 683 Extra 7: Don’t Take it Lightly or Too Seriously
Chapter 685: 683 Extra 7: Don’t Take it Lightly or Too Seriously
Yaduo glanced back at Yelu Yan, smiling as she said, "At least you have some self-awareness."
The three of them laughed as they headed to the dining hall to eat.
The maids began setting the table, and the aroma of the food lingered.
The dim yellow lights bathed everything in a warm glow, with dark shadows falling behind them, making everything seem as wondrous as a dream.
Yelu Yan served Li Xianyun dish after dish, and so did Yaduo.
They were all doting on her.
Li Xianyun couldn’t have greasy food, but it wouldn’t be polite to refuse the dishes Yaduo offered.
Just as she was about to steel herself to eat with her chopsticks, another pair appeared before her eyes, whisking away the greasy beef.
"Too oily," Yelu Yan munched on the beef. "You don’t need to eat this."
Yaduo shot Yelu Yan a sidelong glance. "Xianxian is so thin, she should eat something with more fat."
Yelu Yan laughed, "She can’t eat too much greasy food right now."
"Ayan, why the sudden change of heart? You used to always serve Xianxian greasy foods."
"That was then, this is now."
Yaduo listened, confused.
Yelu Yan turned to Li Xianyun and asked with a smile, "May I tell her?"
Li Xianyun nodded with a smile.
Watching the mysterious behavior of the two, Yaduo asked with puzzlement, "What exactly are you hiding from me?"
Yelu Yan’s smile widened, "Grandmother, you’re about to have a great-grandson or great-granddaughter."
Yaduo was taken aback, then burst into laughter, her smile lines deepening.
She turned to Li Xianyun, excited, "Xianxian, is what Ayan said true?"
Li Xianyun nodded, her mouth curving into a smile, "Not yet three months along. The Khan and I planned to let you know first, and after three months, once it’s stable, we’ll inform others."
"Good, good, you’ve thought it through carefully. We’ll do as you say." Yaduo, smiling and holding her hand, said, "Pregnant people can’t stand the smell of meat. Quick, take these dishes away."
The maids hurriedly removed the meat dishes.
Yaduo was beaming, unable to hide her joy, "Xianxian, what would you like to eat? Grandmother will serve you. You’re not just eating for one now. Of course, don’t eat anything that makes you uncomfortable. Whatever makes you comfortable, just let yourself be comfortable, that’s the most important."
The mood of a pregnant person is of paramount importance; they should nurture their child free from worries.
Yaduo began to admonish Yelu Yan again, "Ayan, you must give in to Xianxian in everything. If you dare to make her angry, Grandmother won’t forgive you."
"With your support, how could your grandson dare?" Yelu Yan responded with a laugh.
Yaduo paused before adding, "And you two, at the peak of youth and vigor, don’t get carried away."
The couple agreed.
Yelu Yan instantly understood, his expression turning a bit awkward.
Li Xianyun was a little slower to respond.
It was only after Yaduo said what followed that Li Xianyun understood her meaning.
"Ayan, restrain yourself for a year, don’t be careless."
Though she was of advanced age, she was still clear-sighted.
Whenever Yelu Yan had time, he would seek out Xianxian, and once the two met, they would lock themselves in the inner chamber, never coming out before a good couple of hours had passed.
The two together, behind closed doors in broad daylight—one didn’t need to think hard to know what they were doing.
Yaduo’s words were so obvious that even the slow-witted Li Xianyun understood, blushing as she lowered her head to fiddle with her chopsticks and eat.
Yelu Yan casually draped his arm over the back of Li Xianyun’s chair, hastily responding, "Grandmother, I understand."
The meal was full of mirth and harmony.
Yaduo looked radiant, as if she had shed many years.
Yelu Yan had never seen her so happy.
After seeing Yelu Yan and Li Xianyun off,
Yaduo knelt to pray towards heaven and earth, then rose with tears brimming in her eyes.
She had many grandchildren, but Yelu Yan was the only one raised under her knee, so her affection for him was the deepest.
Now, upon hearing that he would soon have a child, she was overcome with emotion.
She hadn’t shown it in front of the young couple, but now she no longer had to hide it.
Her personal maid quickly helped her up, laughing, "Mistress, you can finally rest at ease, can’t you?"
Yaduo rose from the soft cushion, exhaling a long sigh, "Yes, I can finally be at peace."
As she was helped by her maid to sit on a soft couch, she said, "I really used to worry that Ayan would end up childless and alone all his life, just passing through this world in vain."
The maid handed her a cup of water, "I’ve always told you, mistress, it was because the Khan hadn’t met the person he liked, the right person. Now that he has found the right one, he has both a wife and a child."
Yaduo nodded, "A child’s fortune is his own, the saying goes right."
Upon leaving Cirui Hall, Yelu Yan bent down to carry Li Xianyun in his arms.
Although the Imperial Palace was filled with lanterns, there were still two maids carrying lanterns to lead the way.
Yelu Yan held Li Xianyun securely, walking very slowly, protectively.
He had been just as careful on his way to Cirui Hall. Li Xianyun had already told him off for it, but Yelu Yan continued as he saw fit.
Wrapped in Yelu Yan’s embrace, Li Xianyun looked up at him and teased, "Husband, I’m not so fragile. There’s no need to walk so slowly."
"It’s always good to be cautious," Yelu Yan replied with a smile.
Since having Li Xianyun with him, he had grown increasingly happy, and so had everyone around him.
"Xianxian, I’ve never seen Grandmother this joyous before."
