The SSS Ranked Villain's Return-Chapter 335: The Three Dire Wolves
The further they went, the more defined the large mountains became. Yet the strange feeling of being watched definitely didn't subside. In fact, it increased.
So this is like the forest earlier, just in a much... much more open space. Not creepy at all, Neraxis thought with a chuckle, when all of a sudden, Jane halted.
"We've got enemies coming. They're direwolves, and pretty strong ones at that..." Jane trailed off, looking Evangeline up and down. "Be careful how you use your blood. While it doesn't count as a magic spell, if it comes into contact with mana, you'd be dead."
"Don't worry about it, I know what I'm doing," Evangeline replied. "Those mana-eating things won't be able to do anything to me. After all, I've been killing them every time they tried to touch my blood."
Neraxis raised a brow in surprise. "And you didn't tell me?"
She shrugged. "It's too simple to tell you. Anyways... you're fine too because your skills use up mana in very quick bursts, so the mana-eating monsters can't even get to the spell in time before it's too late."
"Right, good that you know that," Jane chimed in. "But you should really focus now."
Jane pointed to one of the mountaintops, and the moment she did, Neraxis saw the approaching direwolves.
But there was one thing that was slightly off about them. Their size. They were literally the size of buildings.
And as for their level?
—Spatial Dire Wolf (Level 110)
—Infernal Dire Wolf (Level 125)
—Frost-Nova Dire Wolf (Level 130)
There were only 3 of them. And yet, their strength alone was enough to cause him to recoil in surprise.
"They're strong," Jane remarked. "But they're not unbeatable. Each one has a weakness, and the Spatial Dire Wolf in particular is only a pup, as you can tell by its size."
"Yeah...? That's small?" Neraxis mused in disbelief. Even if the Spatial Dire Wolf was not as big as the rest, it was still at least 10 times bigger than Neraxis and Evangeline combined.
"Just move it. Get the advantage on them as fast as you can. I'll heal you from the side if necessary," Jane urged.
With that, Neraxis sighed and took out his sword. Evangeline surprisingly did the same.
"Why didn't you use your sword sooner?" Neraxis asked, puzzled.
"I didn't need to." Evangeline shrugged. "All the enemies were weak, but these guys here are a bit stronger, so I need to focus if I want us to get through this."
"Aha..."
Nonetheless, they entered their stances and slowly made their way to the incoming direwolves.
There was one good thing about their size, and that was the fact that they were not that fast.
Yet the ground, or rather, the mountain, shook with each step they took.
Since the Spatial Dire Wolf was the fastest, it managed to arrive in front of Neraxis and Evangeline first.
Then, to their surprise, a faint crack appeared in the air, which slowly expanded to nearly the size of an entire head.
And before either of them could ponder what the dire wolf had just done, a transparent, chromatic laser shot out from the crack, heading straight for Neraxis's forehead.
His eyes widened as he raised his sword in front of his face. The moment he did, a loud scratching noise resounded, almost as if the chromatic laser was fighting against his unbreakable sword.
But soon, that pressure vanished, and as he thought he could finally approach the wolf...
[HP -829! (34,171 Damage Blocked!) 1,191/2,020]
Fucking pardon? Neraxis thought with a twitching brow. Did this wolf just use its fucking ultimate?
He didn't know what was more shocking—the fact that he was able to block nearly 35,000 HP worth of damage, or the fact that the dire wolf did such an attack so easily.
If only I was in my main body... this thing wouldn't have been able to even get near me.
"Snap out of it," Evangeline said as she patted his back and ran past him.
She was headed straight for the Spatial Dire Wolf, and when she arrived, another one of those cracks appeared.
However, before a chromatic laser could shoot out toward her, Neraxis threw his sword straight into the crack, causing it to flicker and eventually die out completely.
So it's a strong attack, but it's very easy to disrupt... interesting, Neraxis thought in wonder as he resummoned his sword and watched Evangeline do her thing.
Evangeline appeared in front of the Dire Wolf, and it tried to claw her face. But with perfect precision, Evangeline slashed her sword in between the Dire Wolf's claws, cleanly severing its fingers.
—AWOOOOOOO
With the howl, the wolf took a couple dozen steps backward, almost as if it was afraid of Evangeline.
Yet she paid it no mind and slowly began walking toward it.
That was when three cracks appeared in the sky, each one of different sizes.
But before they could even fully open, Neraxis tossed his sword at them, causing the cracks to close up immediately.
Yet one crack in particular remained, and it was slightly bigger than the rest.
For a moment, Neraxis thought he'd lose Evangeline, so with steady steps, he sprinted toward the dire wolf.
He jumped into the air and brought his sword behind him. Then, with all the power he could muster, he thrust his sword exactly four times, each time triggering a skill.
[MP -2,000 200/2,200 (x4 Atomic Stab)]
One Atomic Stab was strong, but when he did 4 simultaneously, the effects were really something else.
It was almost as if four extremely powerful red pillars descended on the Dire Wolf, each one going straight through its brain.
And as for the single crack in the air? It simply vanished, followed by...

"Oho..." Evangeline muttered, turning to Neraxis in surprise. "That was quite the attack."
She kicked the wolf's corpse, now riddled with four gaping holes in its skull.
"We've killed the weakest one, but..." Evangeline trailed off, glancing at the remaining direwolves who were only a few hundred meters away from them.
"We still have to deal with them."
