'Master, he figured it out. Should I ask DD to increase the dose of her pollen in the room's atmosphere?' Dame Wasp reported to her master, after monitoring Mitch's thoughts, that the Specwork mind-reading apparatus was feeding to the status screen.

'Yes,' Ace replied, taking out a gas mask and passing it to Elinor, who reached for it with a puzzled expression while Mitch yelled, "What did you mix in the air? Drugs should not have any effect on me." He was losing his mind, as anxiety and panic began to grip him like middle-aged eastern women at a mall sale. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

When Elinor caught Ace, he immediately released Dr. Druid's genetically engineered pollens into the room's atmosphere. When introduced into a being's nasal passage, ear canal, eyes, or mouth, these pollens would influence their emotions based on Dr. Druid's whim.

Take Elinor, for example. She was not only fine with Ace breaking into Nastrond but also okay with him hacking into Base Wulfric's system. What worried her was getting another reprimand sheet added to her files. Dr. Druid's engineered pollens were why she was focusing on all the wrong things, or more accurately, in favour of Ace.

"Put it on, unless you want to become a mindless zombie serving your impulsive emotions," Ace warned Elinor, helping her put on the gas mask covering her ears, eyes, nose, and mouth.

"Emotions… yes, my emotions, they are in a disarray. What are you doing to me? Why aren't the cuffs protecting me?"

Even with anxiety, nervousness, and panic gripping his heart and mind, Mitch was able to deduce the situation based on Ace's words. However, it did not matter, as he had no idea what Ace was up to or what the new mind-reading apparatus was capable of.

The reason the cuffs were not helping Mitch defend against the pollen because they were not attacking him, but influencing him just like the air he breathed, the images he saw, the sounds he heard, the food he ate, etc. If the curse cuffs were to substitute breathing, then he would have long died of suffocation.

Yes, Prince's idea of using shame was a good one, but Dr. Druid's pollens were better. Also, since the cuffs were cutting Mitch from his curse core, it made him more vulnerable to the pollen's effect. He could not access his curse energy to locate them in his system, let alone expel them from his system.

"Mitch, is that your true name? If not, why would you choose such a pseudonym? Couldn't you think of anything better, like Bob or Paul?" Ace began interviewing Mitch, asking questions that would indirectly help him get answers he needed by getting him to think about it, such that the Specwork mind-reading apparatus would catch them.

"I don't know… Ask the original Mitch. I killed him and took his place and was stuck with this bitch of a name—" Mitch revealed but cut off mid way, and soon his eyes widened as he stared at Ace, saying, "This is some good shit. What are you giving me? I feel like the first time I did cocaine. Oh shit, am I going to crap my pants again?"

"You crapped your pants when you did cocaine, hahaha. I vomited on my toes. Since then, I stopped wearing heels on a job," Elinor laughed with a deep voice like a robot from hell because of the mask.

'Dame Wasp, ask DD to cut back on Elinor. She is dumb as is, I don't want her losing what little usable brain cells she has left,' Ace informed Dame Wasp through sense share. With Specwork using the Status screen to project Mitch's thoughts, Dame Wasp was acting as go-between among Ace and his other toy summons. As his spiritual stats increased, his control over the curse toybox grew, allowing him to do things he previously couldn't. Like DD passively using her ability from her toy space into the real world without happening to seek permission from the Curse toybox using the status screen.

"C.I.B. lets you guys do cocaine on the job? Sweet. Had I known this before, maybe I would have chosen to infiltrate the C.I.B. instead," Mitch said, impressed by C.I.B. policy on its agents doing cocaine.

"No, no. We were visiting a crime scene as part of our training, and one thing led to another, and I ended up accidentally snotting a ton of evidence. I was almost worried that I would be thrown out of the program because of that incident," Elinor clarified, not wanting to tarnish the reputation of the C.I.B. because of her mistakes.

Ace watched the two share their stories as he wanted Mitch to totally lower his guard. Despite the DD trying her best, Mitch was still able to put up resistance. Therefore, he let him simmer in the pollen-filled air for a while. With the curse cuffs on, he was nothing but an extremely strong human. Sooner or later, he was bound to run out of mental and physical stamina. Then he could continue his interview.

Ace did not have to wait long. Mitch's mental guard was finally down after engaging in a serious conversation with Elinor about food they could add cocaine to and make it taste better. Elinor was acting reserved at first, thanks to her near-negligible experience with cocaine, but she let her imagination run wild and gave Mitch something he could think about when he was in jail for the rest of his lonely miserable life.

Finding a good segway to join in the conversation, Ace pointed out, "You know what was funny, him screaming Assassin after taking a good look at me. From what angle do I look like an assassin to you? Why would you even think that after seeing a teenager?"

"Yeah, that was funny," Elinor agreed with Ace, but seeing her new friend's face turn sour, recalling the incident, she apologized, "Sorry, I shouldn't have smacked you around. Had you been this cool from the start, it wouldn't have come to that. So it was your fault for running your mouth."

'Master, you need to read this. There are more of them,' Dame Wasp informed Ace in urgency. Unable to believe that the cursed bloodline that was believed to be eradicated was still roaming the mortal world and breathing the same air as them.
