The Strongest Curse Master-Chapter 362: Curse Senses
"Janice. Ahem. By any chance, can I practice the Latent curse sensing art?" Ace hesitantly asked, knowing that curse users, especially those from special curse families, did not like to share their curse arts. Some treated them like family heirlooms and valued them more than their own lives. Considering how exceptional the Latent curse sensing art was, Ace believed that just throwing money at the situation would not work this time.
However, before he could finish, Janice cut in, saying, "Save it. I haven't learned the Latent curse sensing art myself, nor have many in my family. It's part of my grandfather's private collection of curse arts. He only shared it with a select few: like Delores, Jason, and apparently Dee3."
Janice was a little spiteful that her grandfather had shared his curse arts with outsiders like Dee3 but not her. It turned out she admired her grandpa more than Dee3. Well, Delores did offer to teach her the latent curse sensing art, but it was not the same as being offered by the famous patriarch of the McSuile family himself. Hence, her curtness toward her role model at the end.
For the McSuile's younger generation, their patriarch was the hero they wanted to grow up to be. Despite being of the direct bloodline, Janice and Elinor felt the same way toward their grandfather. Their grandpa was the only thing that made them proud of the distinction between direct and branch bloodlines. Besides that, they did not feel it justified the disparity between the main and the branch family when they all worked just as hard for the family.
Well, it was one thing that each member of the main family could make contributions equal to a few dozen or even a hundred branch family members put together. "Aurelian eyes" was the prime example. The support she provided to the McSuile family was priceless. This debate has been going on for many decades, and it will not be solved today.
"Well, can't I learn it from Dee3 or Delores?" Ace asked Janice, ignoring her tone. These guys were worse than the fanatics of a cult when it comes to their patriarch. The fact that Elinor was still gazing into the void soullessly was enough proof. He felt bad for the old McSuile; he wondered if he had disappeared because of his family's expectations of him. Well, that was unlikely considering he was ambitious enough to build a family of his caliber.
"Yes, you can!" Delores exclaimed before Janice could deny him, still lying on the lounge chair, and staring into the sky.
"Great, teach me now!" Ace said urgently, planning to learn the curse art before she changed her mind.
Ace did not care if he or his toys could successfully master it. He was just happy to add an exceptional curse art like the Latent curse sensing art to his arsenal for his future toy summons.
"Delores, you can't just give away grandpa's curse arts to anyone—" Janice protested, but Delores cut in, saying, "If Master were here, he would definitely offer to teach latent curse sensing art to Ace even before he asked to learn it. Not just Ace, but any courageous genius. It was a way for him to tell a true genius apart from the rest."
"Then why didn't grandpa offer to teach it to me?" Janice asked, feeling that her grandpa might not have seen her as a genius like the world saw her to be. Otherwise, why would he offer it to Jason, Delores, even Dee3, but not her?
"Because you hadn't undergone your curse ceremony when he was around," Delores reminded Janice, whose mouth opened into a big 'O' in realization. The McSuile patriarch had been missing for a couple of decades now. Back then, Janice was attending a curse class and was far from preparing for her curse ceremony. She was embarrassed, wondering how she could overlook such an important little detail.
"Ace, are you sure you want to learn Latent curse sensing art?" Delores ignored Janice and asked Ace, carrying on the tradition of her master. She was both a little nostalgic and emotional.
"Yes, but what do you mean by it's a test to tell a true genius apart?" Ace was confused about how a curse art would determine that.
"The latent curse sensing art is exactly what it sounds like. It is a curse art to awaken the latent curse-sensing ability of the curse master. When you condense your curse core, your curse sense begins to develop, allowing you to sense curse energy.
Using this curse art, a curse master can awaken their latent potential of these curse senses depending on their level of affinity for curse energy. Not all curse masters have a high affinity for curse energy. You can see it by the strength of their curse tool, and if they manage to awaken an innate curse art.
If a curse master's affinity for curse energy meets the requirement of the latent curse sensing art, then you can master it instantly. If not, you can keep trying, hoping one day your affinity for curse energy will increase and meet the requirement.
Master said that since I have a powerful innate curse tool and art, my affinity for curse energy is high. I should keep trying; maybe one day I could master it. It has been a century now, and I haven't mastered it yet. The only reason I persist is because whenever I practice this curse art, I feel like my curse senses have been jump-started. Now I am addicted to this feeling."
"I don't get it. Dee3 is a curse slave. Curse slaves have no prior affinity for curse energy, which is why they partner with Curselings. How can she learn it, and you can't? Is it because Dee3 had the affinity for curse energy, but they ignored it and forced her to be a curse slave?" Ace asked in confusion, which stemmed from his limited knowledge on the subject.
"It is impossible to create clones with an affinity for curse energy. Otherwise, the government would ditch all its other research and focus on creating more clones with an affinity for curse energy.
Also, Curse Slaves develop an affinity for curse energy when they condense a curse core with the help of the curseling housed in their heart and form a life-bond between them. So, despite their limitations, some curse slaves might have a higher affinity for curse energy than curse masters. That is why they are able to awaken innate curse arts," Dee3 explained to Ace before Delores could answer him, since the question concerned her.
