The Ultimate War Of The Apocalypse-Chapter 704 - 697: The Ultimate Nightmare
Chapter 704: Chapter 697: The Ultimate Nightmare
When a mecha of the highest known technological standard is placed before you, and it’s waiting for you to suit up, anyone who isn’t excited must be a fool, a fool who doesn’t know what a mecha is.
Unlike Xinghe’s opal white mecha, the one before Gao Yuan was an all-black combat mech. It was only when the mechanical arm set the mecha on the ground that it was apparent there was a small backpack-like object on its back.
"Space-Atmosphere General-Purpose Combat Mecha, close combat type, independent power unit, auxiliary intelligent system."
Axu continued speaking, and at this moment his tone was very, very much like that of a person and not the Ark’s computer. The difference was so pronounced that everyone could tell this was the Celestial who once saved humanity and not the Ark’s computer speaking.
Xinghe looked toward Axu’s image, and then she said very seriously, "You are Axu, not a computer."
Axu’s image paused for a moment, and then he looked at Xinghe and said just as seriously, "Yes."
Axu’s ethereal image now had facial expressions. Xinghe said in a serious and puzzled tone, "But you’re from the Health Faction, you started the civil war! You vehemently opposed immortality that would destroy our civilization, but you... you have now achieved immortality!"
"Please understand what immortality is. I am already dead, what is preserved is merely my consciousness, and only a part of it at that. Consciousness merged with the initial machine cannot be called immortality. My principles have not changed, life should not be infinite. Eternal life means stagnation, and before we eliminate the threat of other higher civilizations, choosing immortality is equivalent to choosing self-destruction."
After Axu’s image finished speaking, he moved closer to Xinghe and said, "What’s most important is, it wasn’t us who started the war, we were only fighting for the right to survive!"
Xinghe responded with silence, while Gao Yuan pulled his hand away from caressing the mech and said with a trembling voice, "Sorry for interrupting, but there are six mechs here, why... can’t you let each of us have one?"
Axu looked at Gao Yuan, and then followed Gao Yuan’s gaze to the Ram behind him. Then Axu said flatly, "These are prepared for the warriors. Those who don’t have enough physical strength, forced use will result in death."
After saying that, the black mech’s face opened sideways, and the entire mech unfolded from the middle outward, revealing that the vast majority of its parts were mobile only when the mech was in motion.
Gao Yuan turned around, and he just stood there while the mech automatically fitted onto his body and tightened.
The mech basically outlined Gao Yuan’s physique. It didn’t look like Iron Man but rather like he was wearing a tight suit, only that this tight suit was very thick.
When the face shield closed in front of his eyes, Gao Yuan was momentarily in darkness before his vision returned to normal. His field of view was complete and clear, unaffected by anything.
Gao Yuan lifted his left arm, the movement was normal. He lifted his foot, the movement was normal. There was completely no feeling of restraint. The material that clung to his skin, no, it wasn’t an issue of material clinging to his skin, the mech felt like it had grown onto his body.
At this point, Axu finally said, "Begin the compatibility test."
The others only heard Axu talk about the compatibility test, but after that, there was no more sound.
But for Gao Yuan, everything was completely different.
Pain, a piercing pain starting from the cervical spine that instantly spread throughout his entire body. It was a pain so intense it could knock him unconscious instantly, and then wake him immediately. It wasn’t a deep bone pain, but rather, every nerve ending could feel the pain.
It was a soul-piercing agony. Gao Yuan had no doubts that if he hadn’t already endured pain beyond what ordinary people could bear, if his nerves hadn’t become unimaginably tough, this would have killed him.
"%...¥"
Gao Yuan’s brain was first crossed by a seemingly nonsensical phrase, but it wasn’t spoken aloud, rather a thought had flashed through his mind. The problem was this thought seemed as if it had been inserted by someone else, leaving him utterly baffled.
However, the lack of communication lasted less than a second; as the pain that struck Gao Yuan’s soul suddenly ceased, the voices in his head and the thoughts that translated were already in his mother tongue.
"Implanting new language system."
"Neural system normal, compatibility one hundred percent."
"Muscle strength meets the standard."
"Instruction manual successfully imported."
"Please name this combat system for instant activation."
One thought after another flashed through Gao Yuan’s mind, then, a thought crossed his mind.
"War God! Name it War God!"
"Combat mecha has been named War God, ready for deployment."
To others, it appeared that after Axu finished speaking, Gao Yuan just stood there, frozen, but three seconds later, he lowered his head.
Axu looked at Gao Yuan, Gao Yuan looked at Axu, and then Axu said calmly, "In our tribe, one either chooses Immortality or dies in the civil war. You are now the only person who can use the combat mech. It was mine, but I am dead, so now it is yours."
When Gao Yuan merged with the mecha, he gained access to all its information; hence, he now knew why only he could use it while others couldn’t.
The Celestials’ mecha was designed for the Celestials, and the Health Faction’s mecha was specifically designed for the Celestials of the Health Faction.
The Xinghe mecha was a multifunctional space suit, her most powerful weapon, but Gao Yuan’s mecha was purely a combat mech—different in materials, weapons, and usage. The most important distinction was the power source.
Xinghe’s mecha could only operate for a short while once detached from its energy source, but Gao Yuan’s combat mecha had an independent energy system. The backpack on his back was like a battery, yet its lifespan was nearly infinite.
This mecha was designed for space warfare aboard cosmic ships, so it had no long-range weapons aside from support-type long-range weapons; everything about this mecha was designed specifically for close combat.
Xinghe stared blankly at Gao Yuan, and then she suddenly said, "This is your final invention, your Ultimate Weapon System. You stormed into the Military Research Institute with this mecha and stole the prime mech!"
A smile crept upon Axu’s face, but his voice remained a calm electronic tone.
"Yes, this is your nightmare. You took the crystal of the Health Faction, and now I have taken it back with my own masterpiece!"
Xinghe sighed and said, "I’m not an ancient relic from the Eternals Faction, I am a mechanic-human hybrid created by the Eternals Faction, but what I want to know now is why you abandoned many mature and effective Weapons Systems to design a combat mech that can only engage in close combat."
Axu responded calmly, "Primitive? Perhaps you’re not an old relic of the Eternals Faction, but you’re really not smart enough. I could use it to steal the prime mech from the Military Research Institute, I could become the nightmare of the Eternals Faction, because it is a part of the Ultimate Weapon System. So, it’s not a primitive mech, it’s the Ultimate Mech! The ultimate nightmare for all interstellar civilizations!"
