Tai Jiaan opened his eyes quickly as the shock delivered by the pain which was a result of the smack on his butt coursed through his body.

A loud cry escaped his mouth as he turned his head to glare at the guilty party. The pain he was feeling would not go unavenged. It felt as if he had been smacked with a wooden board.

"Who....." he barked while struggling to get up. The words dried on his lips when he saw Alix standing there with her arms folded across her chest with a displeased look on her face

.

Tai Jiaan had always been quick on his feet with his thinking and immediately, he came up with an escape plan. He put his hands on his stomach and cried pretentiously, "Sister, older sister, my head hurts so much."

Alix scoffed and shook her head. "Little brother, your head is up not down."

Jiaan noticed that he was holding the wrong body part. Like a fool, his hands went from his stomach to his head.

"Ah, ah, it hurts so much that I am about to die."

"Tai Jiaan, you must be looking to receive a spanking from me. Get down from that bed and follow me to my office before i carry you out in my arms like a princess and make you the famous student in the school."

He smiled sheepishly and did as she said. Being famous for that was not something he desired.

"Apologize to the school nurse for interrupting her duties." Alix told him.

She put an arm around his neck and aided him in making a polite apology, then they left together, not stopping anywhere until they reached her office.

Tai Jiaan was a little bit wary of this sister whose one slap if executed carelessly could break a backbone. So, when the door closed behind them, he stuck close to it until she was at a safe distance away from him, behind her desk. freewёbnoνel.com

"Sister, can you not tell grandpa." he said. He sighed and sat down on the couch by the window where she sometimes slept off.

"Why are you dodging class?" she asked him. "Jiaan, you are a senior, next year you will be sitting for your college entrance examination. Isn’t it something that worries you?"

His face fell and unhappiness filled it. Alix deduced that this could be something that was a bit of a sore spot for her brother. So, instead of taking the hard path, she decided to take a soft one to better understand him.

She got a warm blanket from her bag and tossed it at him. "Next time when you want to sleep, don’t bother the school nurse and come straight to my office. If it’s locked, find Jenny and tell her to let you in."

"Eh!" he uttered in shock.

He was surprised that she had gone from talking about the entrance exam like other adults to give him a private safe space to sleep whenever he wanted.

"Why?" he asked. "Aren’t you mad at me for skipping class?"

She handed him a vacuum cup with hot milk and some soft steamed buns. She replied while returning to her desk. "Of course i am mad and i am going to reprimand your homeroom teacher as well as your other teachers for encouraging this bad behavior. You are a student and your duty is to study. If a student doesn’t study then why bother coming to school?"

"Then why aren’t you sending me back to class?" he grumbled.

"Will you pay attention or sleep on your desk if i send you back?" she asked.

He looked down and rubbed the back of his neck with his free hand. Still, Alix could read the guilty expression he was trying to hide. He would not pay attention.

Alix sat down and asked in a soft voice. "Jiaan, don’t you have any dreams?"

He looked up, not at her but at the ceiling and he sighed. "Of what use is it to have dreams? Grandfather has made it clear that all personal ambitions come second to managing the family business, studying design and everything to do with jewels and antiques. I want to be a professional swimmer but it takes time and dedication which i don’t have. Without the support of anyone in the family, it’s useless."

"Isn’t that an excuse?" she asked.

"Mmm." he looked at her curiously.

Alix folded her arms on her desk and leaned forward. "Jiaan," she said slowly, "If you have a goal, no matter how short lived it will be, if it’s something you are passionate about then give it your all even if you have to walk on your own for a while. When my fingers were broken and i couldn’t play the piano anymore i learned other instruments which required the use of one hand. I also decided to teach music since i couldn’t play. I adjusted my goals but didn’t give up on my dream. If swimming is your passion, just work harder at it. I, your elder sister will support you in any way that i can. I will even convince grandpa for you. "

"Hmmm." he replied.

"We have a swimming pool in school and a swim team. Why don’t you start by joining them?" She stood up and picked up a violin and her teaching notes.

The door to her office opened, Jenny walked in with a smile.

"Goodmorning director, hello Mr. Tai."

She took the violin and music notes out of Alix’s hands and briefed her on her schedule which Alix already knew by heart. "You have three classes today director, violin, piano and the special class for the school geniuses."

"Geniuses." Alix mumbled. Isn’t that how Lin Billi’s ego got wings to fly, by being named a genius by people who didn’t know any better?

Jenny didn’t hear Alix’s mumble and she continued, "Your dress for the inauguration ceremony of chairman Zhang Bo is ready. I asked for it to be dropped off here in person in case you have alterations you want made."

"Mmmm." Alix replied.

"You received a few calls last night, one is from a miss Zhang Lexian who wants to meet and discuss business if you have time today.

Rain, the singer wants your opinion on his new song. He sent it to your email. His manager requests that you be quick since it’s a part of his new album.

Lin Qianfan called the school directly, the vice principal and he forwarded the call to me. He...."

"Whatever he wants, it’s a no." Alix responded dryly.

It was too bad that she couldn’t block him from contacting the school directly.

The system was tired of this Lin Qianfan character already. It knew why Alix was keeping him around, it was because of those company shares. If he died, his wife would take everything. But death wasn’t the only way to temporarily keep a nonsense like him at bay.

"Just break his legs for a while and have him spend a month in the hospital. How will he have time to bug you if he is in the hospital?" it suggested.
