Chapter 32 -32 Carly’s Admiration, New System Module

Nolian’s heart shuddered, and he began to understand Mentor Loren’s intention.

After all, Lucien had not previously offended Mentor Loren, and if a Formal Wizard were to kill a Third-level Wizard Apprentice without any reason, especially within the academy, it could have a negative impact on the other Third-level Wizard Apprentices and undermine the fairness of Greybone Academy’s rules.

And as the biggest beneficiaries of Greybone Academy’s rules, the Formal Wizards’ group would undoubtedly affect the interests of Loren and other Formal Wizards by undermining these rules!

According to the principle of equivalent exchange among wizards, naturally, one must bear the loss personally.

But if he were to find his mentor and then decide against trading… perhaps Mentor Loren would think he was just toying with her…

“Meow~” Nolian bowed his head, not daring to make a sound, the only noise in the room being the faint movement of a three-tailed cat named Doro walking.

“Or… there’s another way.” Apparently sensing Nolian’s nervous emotion, the lazy Wizard Loren on the red sofa stretched out her hand picking up a cup of tea, and sipped gently.

“Send that little fellow out. Maybe he’ll die on a mission, or maybe he’ll survive, but even if he returns, at the least it would take five years,” the voice of Wizard Loren was calm, after all, if it wasn’t for Nolian’s utility during these years he had followed her, she wouldn’t have bothered about such conflicts among Third-level Wizard Apprentices.

Nolian raised his head, surprise in his eyes.

“Five hundred Magic Stones.” Loren slowly put down her teacup.

“Mentor, I’m willing to pay resources equivalent to five hundred Magic Stones.” Though it pained him, Nolian still clenched his teeth and spoke.

“Hmm.” Loren appeared with a scroll in her hand, tossing it directly to Nolian “I won’t deceive you; you can look at the task first.”

Nolian respectfully received it and rapidly glanced through the mission information on the scroll, his eyes brightening more and more.

“Carly, a few of us are planning to team up for a mission to earn some Magic Stones tomorrow. Would you like to join us?” In the dining hall of Greybone Academy, Morton smiled as he approached Carly, who was carrying a bow.

“Thank you, Morton, but I need to help Mentor Lucien with experiments during this period…” Carly smiled and declined the warm invitation from her “new friend.”

Since Mentor Lucien had regained his footing after a public duel, Carly, as Lucien’s only student, saw her status visibly rise.

Perhaps this status change wasn’t very apparent when facing Second-level Wizard Apprentices, but in dealing with fellow newcomers, Carly could clearly feel their attitudes changing, becoming more friendly towards her at least.

After all, Carly had the support of a strong and capable Third-level Wizard Apprentice, and at least for now, she was greatly favored by this apprentice!

Even among these newcomers, rumors circulated — Carly was either the offspring of the Third-level Wizard Apprentice or involved in some form of taboo.

Regardless of what the rumors said, one thing was certain for many of the newcomers and they were incredibly jealous: Lucien’s favoritism towards Carly was very real.

Whether it was designing a custom set of witchcraft for Carly or preparing a costly set of alchemy armor, it made most of the newcomers green with envy.

This favoritism wasn’t inferior to that granted to a genius with fifth-level talents!

And those with fifth-level talents were guaranteed to promote to Third-level Wizard Apprentices with a high possibility of becoming Formal Wizards. Once grown, they could be a significant support to a mentor. Moreover, they received various promises about the future when signing contracts, which is why they were so favored and cultivated; but what about Carly, an apprentice of much weaker first-level talents?

What did she have, a job or something?

Many newcomers felt indignant, but when facing Carly, they restrained themselves and didn’t show it, even attempting to get closer to develop a relationship.

After all, Carly, even from a strength perspective, was among the more outstanding of this batch of new blood. Many of the “leaders” within the circles of new blood had approached Carly with an attitude of equality, showing friendliness and trying to pull her into their fold.

For instance, Morton, who had just extended an invitation to Carly to join his team, was one of the leaders among the very top circles of the new blood.

Although his Wizard qualifications were only third class, he was a genuine genius in the realm of Knights, and he was only a hair’s breadth away from breaking through to the highest order of Knights, the Grand Knight.

It should be known that although the Grand Knight might not mean much in the eyes of a Third-level Wizard Apprentice, it was still enough to compete arm to arm with the majority of Second-level Wizards!

To be approached by Morton on an equal footing also indirectly indicated that, at least in the eyes of these new blood, Carly had already earned her place among them.

Carly smiled as she watched Morton leave, yet her emotions were quite complicated.

“Mentor Lucien was right, strength is the foundation of guarding one’s interests and dignity. On the airship, if I had tried to initiate a conversation with them, I might not have received a response, but now they speak to me as a friend,” Carly sighed softly. The more she interacted with these new blood, the more she revered Mentor Lucien.

It wasn’t just because Lucien had taught her much about witchcraft and steadily guided her on the path of Wizards, but also because, in some unintentional moments, his words struck with accuracy and hit right at the core.

“Mentor Lucien, thank you…” Carly silently said in her heart.
