Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared-Chapter 35 - Emotional Disputes
35: Chapter 35 Emotional Disputes
35 -35 Emotional Disputes
“Uh-huh!
Yes!” Gu Fan answered casually, seeing the long line of cars jammed in front of him as he rounded a corner.
He realized it might be a problem getting through.
But after Su Hui managed to stop the car, she said, “Get out, quickly!”
Gu Fan didn’t know what had happened, but he complied, hoping nothing too bad was happening and that it had nothing to do with him.
“Follow me!” Su Hui said strolling ahead hurriedly, like she was rushing to a scene.
This left Gu Fan puzzled because it seemed unrelated to him, so he said, “Sister Su, you go handle your case.
I might as well go back, so as not to drag you down.”
Su Hui said simply, “You came with me.
I have to ensure your safety.
If you don’t want to become the next missing person, stick with me closely.”
Upon hearing her words, Gu Fan immediately agreed to stay with no objections, trailing closely behind her.
His heart pounded in anxiety as he wondered what case she was going to handle.
The cars were queued up for five hundred meters, motionless.
Many people seemed agitated from waiting, some even stepped out of their cars to watch.
Su Hui appeared to know what was happening ahead and didn’t slow down at all.
Gu Fan thought himself to be quite fit, but compared to Su Hui, he fell short.
He felt as though he was being left behind bit by bit, but his stubborn spirit and competitive nature pushed him to keep up.
Upon reaching the scene, Gu Fan saw a large crowd of people peering around, looking frightened.
He immediately knew he was at a crime scene.
The police had already set up a cordon and were maintaining order, telling bystanders not to get too close.
But Gu Fan saw many people recording the scene with their phones.
No need for identification, the police recognized Su Hui and let her through.
But she didn’t forget about Gu Fan and called out to him, “Go where there are plenty of people, remember not to run around.
I’ll come to find you later.” Su Hui then turned around and headed straight to the crime scene.
From the crowd, Gu Fan watched as Su Hui put on her protective gear, which included a bulletproof vest and firearms.
He also noticed that the police’s attention was entirely focused on a large state-owned bank.
Suddenly, Gu Fan realized that this was a scenario straight out of a movie.
Seeing Su Hui fully equipped and orchestrating operations on the radio, with her calm demeanor and skilled movements, Gu Fan could tell she was a seasoned veteran and held a significant rank.
Gu Fan watched anxiously, unable to see into the bank due to the distance, but felt the police officers’ readiness, their bodies tensed for action.
Under Su Hui’s command, a few SWAT officers rappelled down from the building with ropes and slowly approached the bank on the first floor.
They signaled when they were ready.
Su Hui observed through a telescope for a while, confirmed something, then spoke into her radio.
The police outside immediately launched smoke grenades, shattering the bank’s windows.
Smoke quickly filled the inside of the bank.
At that moment, the officers hanging from the second floor swiftly swung down through the shattered glass and rushed into the bank.
Su Hui immediately led a separate group to attack as well.
Gu Fan could only see so much; what occurred inside the bank became a series of gunshot sounds that sent a shiver down his spine, silently praying for Su Hui’s safety.
There were only a few sounds of gunfire and then silence.
Everyone anxiously watched the bank’s entrance, sincerely hoping for a successful operation.
After a while, bank employees and customers gradually exited, looking relieved to have escaped a perilous situation.
Some people even burst into tears when they saw their family members waiting for them outside, fearing they wouldn’t have made it out alive.
Seeing all this, Gu Fan was filled with gratitude for the police, firefighters, and soldiers who safeguarded countless families.
But he was worried about Su Hui and hoping she was okay.
After a long wait, he finally saw them.
The police led a few robbers away, and Su Hui seemed unscathed from the ordeal.
Gu Fan breathed a sigh of relief, thinking to himself what a pity it was for such a beautiful woman to risk her life being a police officer.
However, Gu Fan noticed a man talking to Su Hui as they walked out of the bank.
From her expression, Su Hui didn’t seem interested in the conversation.
Gu Fan recognized the man.
It was Su Hui’s boyfriend, Yuan Cheng.
He was surprised to see Yuan Cheng involved in the bank robbery incident too.
Gu Fan couldn’t help but wonder if Su Hui’s urgency to get to the crime scene was due to her worry for Yuan Cheng.
Su Hui came to the side of the police car, casually listening to Yuan Cheng’s words as she put away her gear.
She still wore an indifferent expression, but Gu Fan could tell Su Hui was just feigning disinterest.
At this moment, Gu Fan was silently rooting for Su Hui, “Stay composed, Sister Su, don’t surrender so quickly.
If you say you’re ignoring him, stay firm in your decision.”
However, to Gu Fan’s disappointment, Su Hui eventually began to speak.
Though her response wasn’t enthusiastic, her icy demeanor was melting and she was speaking more and more.
When Gu Fan saw Su Hui was almost managing to smile, he knew that even if she hadn’t forgiven the other party, she wasn’t as resistive as before.
“Alright, alright!” At this point, all Gu Fan could do was silently wish her well.
He hoped Su Hui could be happy with someone genuine.
However, if the two reconciled to former times, it implied Su Hui wouldn’t stay for long, then he would have to work on his combat skills on his own.
Not to mention, the house would lose a free bodyguard and rental income, but at least Lin Xi could rest easier.
Just then, a woman in a khaki trench coat with delicate makeup appeared.
She affectionately linked arms with Yuan Cheng as soon as she arrived, dominating the conversation without a fuss.
Yuan Cheng looked embarrassed and didn’t say much, whereas Su Hui remained composed, even maintaining a polite smile.
For some reason, Su Hui said something, then turned and strode away.
“What is…” Gu Fan saw clearly the bitterness in Su Hui’s expression as she turned away, trying hard to cover it up with stubbornness, even her walk seemed off.
Gu Fan pretended not to notice anything, then left with Su Hui.
Not sure what to say to lighten up the mood, after much thought, he could only say, “You’ve saved a lot of people today, you…”
Su Hui remained silent, which made Gu Fan feel awkward.
What surprised Gu Fan more was that Su Hui actually took the initiative to grab his hand and walked away quickly.
“This…” Gu Fan felt passive.
He was being led by the hand by Su Hui and he wanted to say something, but he couldn’t.
As he could feel the heartache and suffocation hidden beneath that stubborn exterior.
Gu Fan, as if infected, disregarded everything, held Su Hui’s hand tightly, and took the lead to guide her with brisk steps.
He let Su Hui feel the determination and warmth transmitted from his palm.
At this moment, Su Hui felt something different.
She couldn’t help a glance at Gu Fan and was taken aback by his handsome appearance and determined expression, like a man who could provide someone to rely on.
The two returned to the car.
The case had just concluded and much remained unresolved, the road was still not open to traffic, and they could only wait.
So, in the long wait, no words were exchanged and the atmosphere was getting a bit awkward.
After a while, Gu Fan couldn’t help himself, “Sister Su, you didn’t move into my place because you fell out with your family, did you?
You were unhappy, then got angry and ran away from home, right?
Was it because of this man?”
Upon hearing this, Su Hui bore a look of reluctance to reminisce, which made Gu Fan wonder if he had asked something inappropriate, and he felt a bit of regret, but still, he was curious to know if his speculation was right.
Su Hui spoke up, “Yes, it was indeed because of him.
We met in college, and were together for seven years, even on the verge of talking about marriage.
Then one day when I returned home, I caught him with another woman…
So I moved out of his place in anger.”
Gu Fan nodded slightly, having a dumbstruck look as if he understood everything, then he could only console her, “He’s not worth your sorrow.
You’re so beautiful, there are plenty of good men out there.
You’ll definitely find the best one.”
Su Hui tried to put on a strong smile, which was a bit heartbreaking.
Gu Fan knew these comforting words were clumsy.
“His father is a high-ranking government official and arranged a match for him with a suitable girl.
His father believes that only such a girl can boost his career.
He said he also resisted, confessing he loved me, but his father’s words put great pressure on him.
Rejecting that girl would be equivalent to offending the family behind her.” As Su Hui narrated, she was secretly shedding tears.
Gu Fan felt very sorry for her, it turned out these two genuinely loved each other, but couldn’t be together due to family matters.
“Forget it, I used to question myself whether I loved him or his status more.
Now I’ve got my answer.
I no longer need to ponder over this issue.” Su Hui laughed, pretending to feel relieved, then turned to Gu Fan and said, “You were impressive today, invite me to dinner.”
“Okay, alright, I’ve been wanting to invite you to dinner anyway.” Gu Fan knew that he couldn’t refuse Su Hui now, but he was puzzled.
He hadn’t done anything impressive today, and how come being impressive required treating to a meal, this didn’t make any sense to him.
Forget it, as long as you’re happy, Gu Fan accepted everything with this mindset, even if Su Hui made any unreasonable demands, it was alright.
“I know a sixty-year-old restaurant.
The food there is really delicious.” Gu Fan’s words cheered up Su Hui a bit, and by now, they could finally hit the road.
